It's not how it's packaged someone definitely went snooping through your parcel. I've worked in parcel delivery people do it all the time to see if it's anything they want or are nosey. Or they throw your parcel around and it gets damaged. Best bet is to buy from a retailer so you know the condition of what you are buying . As they will soon be gone, so make the most of it.
I've heard that seasons 20, 25, and 9 have been scanned and either have extras complete or in process for release. With the 60th anniversary, I can see giving us seasons 20 and 25 next.
I wanna wait for The Crusade to get its eps animated, 'cause I have eps 1&3 on the Lost in Time DVD, & dailymotion has eps 2&4, & I have everything else on DVD or Blu Ray, but I reeeeally want this box set....... Indecision intensifies.
At least each disc gets a tray. I got the Twin Peaks event series for black Friday which had two discs just floating loosely without a tray to attach them to!
A good example of an extra that's moved is "Last Chance Saloon". That's a documentary about the transition from Baker to McCoy, which was originally released on The Gunfighters despite having basically nothing to do with it other than the title. The Blu-Rays sensibly move it to Time and the Rani.
Mine came damaged too. The inside booklet holder was bent backwards and torn and the very last disc holder had come away from the box, so that was also torn - I cant blame Amazon for that. I hope going forward QC is improved because the disc holder issue seems to be consistent with these ltd sets.
Seasons in the 1960s had 40+ episodes (even Season 2 was meant to, until Planet of Giants lost one, though Mission to the Unknown inserted a new one at the end of the block). The six seasons of Hartnell and Troughton amounted to the equivalent of ten seasons of the 70s or early 80s! By contrast, Colin and Sylv only managed roughly one 1960s series'-worth of episodes in total, each.
I’m so envious of you having the set early! and I recon they’ve said all Nine stories because the truth is. It isn’t all the episodes in Season 2 because of The Crusade.
That damage breaks my heart, it's unacceptable for a brand new product which someone has spent their hard earned money on, and countless others have spent hours upon hours designing, to then be ruined by some cheap cost cutting packaging by the reseller. I know it's only a box and the discs are fine but the packaging is very much a part of the product too. I'd be complaining and asking for an exchange personally!
The first time I opened my Trial of a Time Lord VHS box set, I accidentally ripped the inner cardboard box. Devastated! To be fair, that was a terrible design.
I've stopped buying my Doctor Who boxsets from Zavvi because they are poorly packaged when sent in the post. I preordered my Season 2 from HMV and got mine in the post at 10am on Tuesday 6th December which is not bad due to the Royal Mail being on strike. HMV sent me my copy in mint condition. I watched Planet of Giants and Daleks invasion of earth and just finished watching the rescue. Tomorrow I will watch the Romans. Whenever I get my boxsets I watch the stories first and then will look at the special features.
I prefer the full booklets, from the limited sets, luckily you can get cheap second-hand ones with wrong-printed or non-replaced disk sets with booklets that are fine, and using the standard editions for the actual disks.
I love series 2 of classic doctor who I love planet of the giants and the daleks invasion of earth and I love the rescue and the Romans and the space menuse and the chase and the time middle and the web planet and the crusade
Great unboxing... Zavvi are a disgrace when it comes to packaging anything they send out. Ive had previous with them. You spent a lot of money on that set and you should return it. They'll try and give you a discount but don't listen to there bull, any buyer deserves there purchase to arrive in mint condition.
Zavvi are horrible, they have total disregard for the products they send out - check out their reviews haha. I will never use them again and have learnt my lesson the hard way.
I would love to buy these sets but why does it have that chibnall logo. Wont ever buy it until he and his 3 series are deleted or exterminated out of existence
People make such nice things and other people come along and break them
Gorgeous set. They should probably do another Davison next as he's only had one released
Season 20 seems like a no brainer to release in the anniversary year
I am so desperate for another Davison release, he’s my favourite after Troughton and it’s been 4 years since we got anything for him!
Lovely box set.I'm a bit old fashioned and still buy my box sets over the counter from HMV stores. Thanks for another great review.
That's the best way if it's not OOP help support these retailers as they probably won't be there in 20 years time.

That's what I was thinking, it kinda makes sense with it lining up with the 60th this year.

I would suggest the Z-A set if you want a good product they used to be sold on zavvi for £90

If the Australian releases hadn't changed packaging, I'd be importing this one. I love what I've seen of Season 2, the wait is going to be hard.
My one also arrived early from Amazon, I love watching all the special features
Mine is delayed. In fact I haven't had any post for about two weeks, and I'm expecting a lot.
Same here
I've had a parcel coming from Poland and it's been stuck at Heathrow for 3 weeks now
I’m so envious of you having the set early! and I recon they’ve said all Nine stories because the truth is. It isn’t all the episodes in Season 2 because of The Crusade.
That damage to the box is maddening!
Any recommendations for gluing the disc tray back on these sets?
I recommend Glue Dots.

Mine wasn't dented, but they didn't bother to knock and just left it out in the rain.
I've had second hand stuff packed up like Fort Knox so NO excuse really

I'm hoping for the 1st series to celebrate the 60th
And season 25
Can't wait to get mine soon
Mine was Delivered in a bag!!!!!!!!
I’ve only just started upgrading to blu-ray starting with season 12. And for that reason, I’m getting the standard editions for consistency
I prefer the full booklets, from the limited sets, luckily you can get cheap second-hand ones with wrong-printed or non-replaced disk sets with booklets that are fine, and using the standard editions for the actual disks.
Great unboxing! It sucks that yours was damaged though, could you get it replaced maybe?
Ian calls him Cockylickin.

Although being more familiar with modern who. I must admire the collection boxsets for classic who….they’re amazing!!!

Stopped buying from Zavvi ages ago due to that sort of poor packaging
Just subscribe

Ngl, that sounds so petty.
