What cover from the Doctor Who: The Collection series has been your favourite so far?
Always go back to Season 12 as my fav, only 4 years old yet considering everything since then, feels a long time ago! Excited beyond belief what Lee can do to my favourite, Season 6
I'll always have a soft spot for Season 14 as it was my first one.
Possibly Season 23
They're wonderful in general, but I particularly like season 18 - a really strong composition, good color.
Season 9 - which will be released in 9 days time as I write. Of those that have been released, season 8.
I just want to say to Lee that the artwork on these box sets are superlative, there’s clearly been so much thought and care and attention to detail. Every piece inspires awe or wonder or even laughter. It was wonderful to see Christel’s reactions to these and I would love to hear more about the original booklet inside artwork, which I feel gets a little overlooked!
Season 22's Boxset is probably my favourite, even if we couldn't get the original film for The Two Doctors. Lee's artwork is just beautiful!
What do you mean by the original film for The Two Doctors?
@@AlchemistOfNirnroot they mean the original 16mm footage for the location scenes of the two doctors which would allow it to be true HD like how it is on Season 19
The three reasons for me as to why I love these Collections so much are that often I've never seen these stories before and that the special features are very cool but the reason that I'll see every time I look at my shelf is the gorgeous artwork of Lee Binding. One day I'll have them all. I'm currently missing 5 or so of them.
His work really elevates them above normal box sets.
I am in awe of Lee's wonderful work on the Collection. I'd love to buy these pieces as posters for my wall.
What's your favourite collection cover? Mine is trial of a timelord.
@@Grayvorn That's difficult! I like all of them, but I suppose the ones with different costumes and stuff stand out the most, like season 14. I'm also a softie for season 26. And season 10.
And, for the US releases - we don’t get any of this talent, design, effort, besides front cover, and a tiny bit of art on the back, next to details. We only got a paper insert, listing disc contents on like the first three sets.
I have imported three UK sets, and switched the discs between when our domestic set gets here -and we often wait like 5 months. 🙄

I love this video. The Lee Binding artwork is amazing. To hear how Lee created them is just fantastic. These videos are the ones I want to see. There is no bad language like you get on some Doctor Who dedicated you tube channels
Physical media for me will always be better than digital. Better picture and sound quality, special features and sometimes bonus goodies like collectors booklets/posters etc.
Was so cool to meet Christel at a con last year, and talk about these sets. I hope she makes a follow up video like she said she was thinking about.
Excellent video Christel! Lee's artwork is always amazing and it really brings these boxsets to life! I'm gonna have to dig through my boxsets now and have another look at some of the artwork! 😁
I got every box set since the Collection came out, including the first edition of season 12. But these were sold out so quickly and sold for astronomic prices on the grey market. So I was afraid that I could not get one of the sets one day. Thankfully, the stress has reduced, since the standard packaging is available.
The release of the standard editions should help take more pressure off.

I wish the US would have gotten the same boxes and extras like the booklet instead of the plain Blu ray cases we’ve gotten.

Loved this. Those first two sets came out at a time when I was very, very unemployed, and because of how quickly they sold out I sort-of gave up on the idea of ever owning them, so I ended up buying the US sets... which I then started replacing with the reissued standard-packaging sets once those started coming out. I do have a copy of the Season 18 Collector's Set, though, which makes me happy.

Its nice to see how much thought goes into making these. With AI art being a thing its nice to hear about this one guy in a room who loves doctor who and piecing together different images to recreate iconic moments. Its alot of fun ❤️
If this is true, I can't believe that the same person who took part in audio commentaries for the UK Dungeons and Dragons animated series and helped produced the He-Man commentaries for the UK DVD's, is now designing the awesome looking Blu-ray boxsets for classic Doctor Who?! Simply amazing. (But even if he isn't, it's still good artwork). Hopefully LOADS of people will prove him wrong and that physical media IS still treasured by people buying these sets. :)

Working my way through the classic series for the first time via these box sets (and iplayer to plug the gaps), even to a newcomer its clear how much love went into it! Just watched Battlefield for the first time earlier tonight and now my mind is blown to realise it was Excalibur's hilt on the disc this whole time!!!
So last video, you were back....and now you're Back Once Again....
I wish we got these in Canada. We just get the standard bluray packaging. It doesn't even come with a booklet here.

Great video, in my opinion Lee Binding is a legend I love his art work. I'm praying the Doctor who logo doesn't change? It will loom out of place, I would like all of them to stay in the same format. I like season 10 Pertwee.
If they ever do David Tennant for series 3 should have Captain Jack hanging on the tardis on the back

Those boxsets are beautiful works of art. What sucks for me as an American is that The Collection packaging is generic and comes in a standard Blu-Ray case and doesn't have the booklet or image flaps.
This convinced me to preorder the Hartnell Season 2 set! 😍 I'm importing from the UK as the American versions of these are quite a sorry package by comparison lol
Agreed, I think American fans are getting a very raw deal in all of this.

We don't get anything nearly as cool as that in Australia. We just get a book of disks a a slip case and a single piece of art on the front cover holding the booklet . The Australian version of box sets for anything is very basic for some reason and I hate it. I think for the next collection box I get ill get the uk version but then it won't match the 5 other sets I've already got
i have been collecting these here in the US... they dont look as nice :/ however i do look forward to watching them, and collecting them all

If anything, the recent issues with streaming services cancelling things and taking things off their service left-right-and-centre has proven the worth of physical media - barring accidents or theft it's yours for as long as you want it.
I was literally looking at these less than an hour ago on eBay and Amazon. I'm seriously considering buying them.
I would recommend them. Picture and audio is great, and the special features , both new and old ( from the DVD range) are worthwhile. If you're into special features; some of the new material made for the Blu-rays is very impressive indeed.

I enjoyed that immensely! I love Doctor Who art and spend a lot of time every day sharing lots on my FB group…buy I have never once thought of all the art in the box sets. I buy the sets and there they sit, mostly unopened. I’ve a lot of great art to get through now! Oh, and subscribed!
