    Great video. My chicks F60 needs this. Dealer wants $6k 😭 I’m proficient on 80s Toyotas. This is voodoo to me.

      Mate I've been doing it 25 years and that inlet cam assembly just looks ridiculous.
      I'm in the thick of doing one now and it's just overly pointlessly intricate.

      @ssss-df5qz yes mate, it is unfortunately well over engineered, but that’s unfortunately the way it’s all
      Going now, lots of pointless bits!

    Excellent video. The chain didn't move off the crank as long as you keep the tension on the chain?

    • @Chris_CDB
      @Chris_CDB  2 роки тому +1

      Yep, that’s right. The chain won’t come off the bottom pulley as long as you keep tension on it, although it wouldn’t technically fall off it anyway due to it not being able to go anywhere, I just keep
      The tension on it to stop it from falling inside
      The engine.

    • @surffari
      @surffari 6 місяців тому

      @@Chris_CDB And it should not matter whether the cain moves as long as your lock pin and timing tools are in place when the sprockets etc are put back and chain tensioned

    My sons mini is going to need this doing asap, puffing blue smoke seams to point to the stem seals.
    This is a great vid by the way.
    I will need to buy the camlock AND the stem seal remover kits.
    From ebay looking the camlock kit looks like an N14 kit. Does this matter as the N18 kit looks different?
    And what make is the valve stem remover kit.
    Ill be watching this on repeat so i know what i am doing later. 👍

    • @Chris_CDB
      @Chris_CDB  Рік тому

      You will need the cam locking/setting tool correct for the engine code you have, if it’s an n14 you need one for that engine, if it’s an n18 likewise you will need the correct one, as the cam setup is different, some have the variable valve springs on the back cam, some don’t. You will need the correct corresponding timing tools.
      As for the lace stem remover kit it is just a cheapy one from eBay, it really doesn’t matter what you buy, they are all much the same, and if you are only doing the job once you may aswell buy cheap.

    I'm getting an engine light due to a Vanos code 2D60 and 2C58 (and lean lambda). I replaced the exhaust solenoid, but the code came back after a few months. Any tips since you have experience with the N18?

    Where did you get that bronze colored adapter that fits the n18 spark plug threads? I have the same stem seal kit but the compressed air hose end is too large for the mini engine.

    So what all did you end up using to adapt to the spark plug holes? I don't have anything the correct size in my kits. I'm about to just weld an air fitting to an old spark plug after busting out all the ceramic.

    • @Chris_CDB
      @Chris_CDB  Рік тому +1

      Could be a whole host of things mate, the smoking would 90% the stem seals would need replacing however that would not contribute to a struggling to start situation. Labour wise it would have to be looked at to get an accurate diagnosis before a quote could be given

      It is a solid days work really to do this job. If you haven’t done it before I would give yourself 2 days as replacing the valve holding collets can be a tedious job.

    How do you remove the intermediate cam at the back?

    • @Chris_CDB
      @Chris_CDB  2 роки тому

      You shouldn’t need to remove it for this job, however if you do need to remove it you will need to remove the bearing cap on the right side of the head and then pull it out., if it doesn’t come then you may have to take the valveteonic motor to disengage the worm drive.
