(DO NOT reupload any of videos without my permission).
Welcome to my channel, where I aim to upload videos once a week (at minimum). I review Train Sim World 5 or Train Simulator (classic) DLC, complemented by the occasional real-life railfanning video from far away New Zealand, as well as original or adapted Thomas The Tank Engine stories (recorded in Trainz 2019). Sometimes I also make UA-cam Poops or other silly meme videos.
My favourite episode of Thomas The Tank Engine is Season 5 - Episode 2 'Horrid Lorry' (or Season 4 - Episodes 1 & 2 'Granpuff' and 'Sleeping Beauty'), and my favourite Railway Series book is No. 19 'Mountain Engines'.
Disclaimer - I have no commercial connection to Dovetail Games or any third-party developers making content for TSC and TSW.

Story of Forest Rail review ~ Train Simulator
Story of Forest Rail is a semi-fictional Japanese route add-on for Train Simulator. But it puts a spin on what I expect from a TS add-on, in the sense that the scenarios are used as a platform for story-telling.
The route has two different branches running through scenic mountainous terrain, and comes with two unique vehicles, namely the Kiha 720 railbus and Kiha 750 railcar. But, as we'll discuss in this video, there are still a few downsides to this route even 10 years after its release.

The Once-Daily Train to New Plymouth (ft. DFB 7023) ~ January 2025 (HD)
Переглядів 58316 годин тому
Following the infrequent KiwiRail service from Palmerston North to New Plymouth. We'll also see the bizarre sight of a DL locomotive running past the Wind Wand and on to Port Taranaki, as well as DFB 7023 making an unexpected appearance on a freight train (instead of a passenger run like the Capital Connection). The rail activity in northern Taranaki is now a far cry from how it was even just 2...
Festival of Lights at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth ~ 05/01/2025 (HD)

A short look at the incredible night-time lights at Pukekura Park in New Plymouth, recorded in January 2025. This wasn’t the first time I had been to the Festival of Lights, but it was the first time when I decided to make a video about the event. The festival is a free-to-enter event held every summer, complete with a bus that shuttles back and forth between Ariki Street (in the CBD) and Filli...
Day Out on the Waitara Railway (ft. Price Locomotive 222) ~ 05/01/2025 (HD)
Переглядів 32918 годин тому
On Sunday the 5th of January, we revisited the Waitara Railway near New Plymouth, and went for a train ride to Lepperton and back. This time, the WRPS was using a rather unique shunter (built by A&G Price of Thames in 1968) instead of their mascot locomotive 'Portland 11'. Price 222 is now enjoying an easy retirement on a little branch line in Taranaki, which is very different from her original...
KiwiRail's EF Electric Locomotives ~ Refurbished Compilation (HD)

LNER 'P1' class Steam Locomotive review ~ Train Simulator
Переглядів 1,4 тис.23 години тому
Another day, another review of a Caledonia Works add-on for TS classic. This time, the subject is a 2-8-2 steam locomotive from the London & North Eastern Railway. She bares a striking resemblance to the famous A1 Pacifics (mainly because of the boiler). (Editor's note - I didn't realise until after this video went live that I forgot to record a scene with the P1 alongside a modern LNER train, ...
LSWR 'T14' on the Swanage Branch ~ Train Simulator
Переглядів 38423 години тому
Following one of Drummond's unique T14 class (or 'Paddlebox') 4-6-0s on a run down the Swanage Branch. The route is 'Dorset Coast' by Golden Age Developments, and it's set some time in the steam era (can't remember exactly when). In real life, the Swanage Branch is now a heritage railway. LNWR 'Greater Britain' Steam Locomotive review ~ Train Simulator
Переглядів 1,1 тис.День тому
The LNWR 'Greater Britain' class was an obscure steam locomotive design from the early 1890s, with only 10 examples ever being built. They were three-cylinder compounds with Webb's unusual divided drive arrangement, but didn't last particularly long in service, as they were withdrawn and scrapped less than 20 years after their introduction. Just over four years ago, Caledonia Works revived this...
First Run with the Southern Railway 'Z' class ~ Train Simulator
Переглядів 585День тому
I thought I'd make a short video to show off the newest add-on from Steam Loco Collection. This is the Southern Railway 'Z' class, a strange 0-8-0 tank engine designed by Richard Maunsell and built in 1929. Only eight of them were built, but sadly, none have survived into preservation. I will make a proper review of the 'Z' class at some point, but I don't know when. (Locomotive link): steamloc...
Wakayama & Sakurai Lines review ~ Train Simulator
Переглядів 1,8 тис.14 днів тому
For my first review of 2025, I'll be having a gander at Union Workshop's Wakayama & Sakurai Lines route add-on. It's been a hot minute since I lasted reviewed a Japanese route in Train Simulator. This DLC is focused on suburban services with the 103 series and 105 series EMUs, and I enjoy driving on this route from time to time, but it's let down by the fairly short route coverage and inconsist...
December 2024 Railfanning (Off The Cutting Room Floor)

A compilation of the KiwiRail services I filmed in my local area throughout December. We'll mostly see the normal 'DL' locomotives, but two 'DSG' shunters also appear as well.
2024 ~ The Year That Was (Railfanning Highlights)
Переглядів 35114 днів тому
As is an annual tradition at this point, here are my railfanning highlights for 2024. Although I wasn’t in the best mental state this year, there were still plenty of good things happening, and I am grateful for that. Due to this video’s sheer length, I don’t recommend watching the whole thing in one sitting. (If anyone's curious, the file size for this video is a staggering 20 gigabytes).

On this latest visit to WCML Over Shap, we'll follow a Class 87 electric locomotive (specifically 87005 'City of London') as she hauls a passenger train from Carlisle to Preston. As we go up the line, we'll pass a wide variety of diesel and electric locomotives or multiple units. This footage was recorded a) before I did the big race with Dark DJ and b) from a scenario that comes with the Armst...

In what may be the collaboration of all time, join DC 4260 Productions and Dark DJ Productions as we race Class 87 electric locomotives from Carlisle to Preston. I’m using the WCML Over Shap route in Train Simulator, and @DDJP is using Just Trains’ new WCML route in Train Sim World 5. While this race didn’t go entirely according to plan, it was still jolly good fun. I strongly recommend checkin...
China Clay for Export review ~ Train Simulator
Переглядів 1,4 тис.14 днів тому
China Clay for Export is a TS Classic route that I've had for a long time, and I randomly had the idea to review it earlier in December. It's also the first time I've reviewed a Creative Rail product. The route is set in 1988 and themed around china clay trains in Cornwall. I wanted to like this route, but it's mainly let down by the route coverage simply being way too small and restrictive.

I got the Scotrail express dlc for 13 GBP discount and i think thats the only appropriate price for it, 30 quid for one basically straight line is a joke
And my son!
That’s me! 15:12
Very nice to see a Class 506 fan! It seems like a very nice EMU and the devs clearly put in a lot of effort in making it feel realistic however I am having a lot of issues with it, the acceleration often isn't enough to keep to the timetables :( Do you have any advice on how to properly drive this EMU? The manual explains it very well for the Class 76 - which is really fun to drive as a result, but has nothing on the 506 unfortunately
I live in waitara and the tr that is sitting in front of dsa11 is their work train and i know that the two dsc trains are going to be used to make one good train at some point as my grandad helped out there running the trains and worked on them as well as he use to work on the railways in the main work shops in New Plymouth
eating rn, i love your reviews dude.
Whenever the GWE Remaster is out, would you re-review that route? Just curious.
I'm not sure. I wasn't a fan of the route anyway, and I don't like the unbranded liveries that'll come with the update.
Ne is because the war department took over all the railways in the UK and put them into section kind of like br at these locos where in the north eastern section so it says N E on the tender 😀
When will you review WCML - preston to Carlisle for TSW 5?
As he has said before, he will only get that route when it is on a discount!
Like Maffarick said. It's an amazing looking route. But, the asking price is steep, no matter how you slice it. So, just be patient. It'll come when it comes.
no bro, i agree it isn't worth it. I'm tired of dtg, I'm sticking with tsc. @@maffarick
@@maffarickngl it was kinda selfish of dovetail to make it that expensive
How is it selfish?
CW still have the problem on many products, of the exhaust loops not being synchronised with the wheel rotation. Some of the testers (who I won't name) have tried to say that you don't notice it, but once you've driven a WW or 4th's Games products its very obvious...
I noticed that same issue on the P1, but forgot to mention it in the review.
I´m full time TSC ... the game in a modded state with all the third party and freeware is amazing. PS: Cloud Enhancement Pack is great! I would not run my TSC without anymore....
I said the same things on my German channel.... fully agreed. Gone back to TSC full time now!
I´ve made some German videos criticizing TSW and had loads of people on forums seeing it as a personal attack and insulting me.
That's just shocking. I don't understand how constructive criticism could be so badly mis-interpreted.
I´ve gone back to TSC full time now... TSW is just full of short and boring routes.
There are a heap of layers for this route though. Class 66 has 23 services, Class 158 has 1, Class 20 has 2, Class 37/7 has 5 Class 45 has 3
The 4700s should be renumbered into the 6700s because of the new AC44C6Ms
1:10 thanks for this info to see the inside
Just wanna add that irl theyre using the 4024 there for the regional line and mostly 10/11/1216 and 1144s, rarely and also in the past 4020 and 1142 weren't uncommon there, but no 4744/4746, at least none ive ever seen there and can remember. So its the more realistic choice (even if its reused), although an 1144 would be very needed since they're used to pull the freight up the mountains in combination with Taurus locos, often 3 on one freight train. If I'd add anything it would be the Railjet + 4020 + 1144, then it would be possible to have some variety and most locos there covered with the already existing stock.
You seem to struggle to gain speed, I can get to 120 KM/H in just 5 minutes at nest max boiler pressure at all times.
