Excited this shop is only 20 min from my house. Looks incredible so far
Really enjoy this show. The behind the scenes stuff is more interesting than the pomp and flash of top 5 cards going up, etc
i did this to a store in the Philippines before. buy cards to sell in my friend's store. honestly, it has to be mixture of vintage players and also the new ones. as geoff has mentioned, if you buy the older player the risk isnt there compare the newer ones. so the trick is to buy only the low to mid end stuff for the new player or if its high end - you need to get the best deal so that if that card goes down, it wouldn't hurt your inventory. also for the newer players, at a storefront, you don't need to bring your prices down if they go down -- unless you'd know that this particular player is now a bust.
basically, the technique is buy aggressively but also conservatively. study what the market wants. like in the philippines, i know what the people here want. so there in the US, you also need to know what your customers want. good luck Geoff!
Crazy 😜 opinion here. You should strategically buy breaks. PYT of key team in key products. You will get lots of raw cards to fulfill needs and grade many cards to get better returns by January.
I bet a better return with educated breaks over this method.
thats amazing you got all that inventory for ur new cards shop in attlanta…. I on the east coast. wont go to california burbank to there show.. but will think about going to ur new east coast card shop in atlanta...
I'v been retired from owning an S corp for 8 yrs now. It's way, way, way, way more complicated than meets the eye. 14K sq ft? The rent + triple net alone will be incredible. They're talking about hiring? That should be already done. Add training to that equation. Just imagine what the insurance will be for something like this? Night security? I wish the Wilson group all the best. I'm just glad it's not me. 👍
Fun stuff to see Geoff, thanks for sharing and taking us along for the journey. Would love to see more vintage and a strong focus on vintage :-)
Can't wait for the GRAND OPENING!
Build it and they will come! The cards and people that is! 😎
Say what you want but the man’s a business man and has the money to back it up
we do have ups stores all over the country, you can buy the cards at the card show and ship it to yourself. much love not trying to be that guy just saying
you know this is the top of the market!!
What? The market is way down, possibly near the bottom.
You think it’s gonna boom again like Covid ? This 1000 percent the top for modern lmao
@@DarinsCardsexactly his point..there is no going up, it will continue to go down as most in it for
Money are leaving in droves
Suuuuch a huge risk opening the card shop in general now
Hey Geoff......How is that $500,000 of Select?
What are you referencing? Im curious
Sick burn bro… 🤦♂️
I guess you don’t know how taxes work
Store is going to sell 3-5% at best of card value in the store per month.
Going to need $5 million or more in product priced at $1000 or less
to sell enough to maybe cover expenses.
Realistically, going to take about $12-15 mil in product to end up making
a decent return on investment. In addition to having and driving enough traffic to
a store to fuel the level of sales to justify a storefront for the business.
Opinion from a current owner of three stores card/pop culture each doing
7 figures in sales.
PS> assuming you will lack the proper size walk in safe,
nor the labor to put away all the cards that should be every night,
what is the plan to deal with the inevitable break in that will occur,
as this amount of value will be target for many thieves,
and be irresistible to them.
Atlanta area has 2x the property crime rate of the national average.
PPS> one of the reasons those three stores all operate within a mall. :)
Sounds fun
Funny reading some of these hidden arm chair big gulp refill critics have an opinion on a super successful businessman with a vision and passion for card collecting and investing. Sure you will be giving him your $ soon, this place is going to revolutionize the market, one stop shop and experience.
Haha
Lmfao!!!
Burbank enters the chat an throws 🎤
I have over 1000 Alphonso Davies Rookie Cards. 3 of 4 pop 4. 8 of pop 15. Several 1 of 25 numbered. Signed soccer balls game shirts. List goes on. Interested? Have an Alphonso Davies Cabinet!

I am very interested in the positions you might have open for employment. My plans getting my business underway I have put on hold due to a couple different reasons. I have massive knowledge and contacts in the hobby and Im interested in learning more about you all and go from there.
nice
Great content! i love these insights and being able to follow this journey
He uses Card Ladder?
My biggest beef with Geoff is how instead of saying the word “just” he says “jest” 😂
I have a small card store in southern Missouri. Tons of complete sets, hundreds of patches and autos, thousands of parallels and numbered cards, graded cards, raw cards, dollar boxes, etc... Years range from late 60s to modern. I could send you an excel spreadsheet with everything, and you could make an offer on the entire stores inventory if you want? Id drive it down to Atlanta.
What's your store name? Would love to check it out

Why is it difficult to spend free money?
80 percent comps not sustainable with your overhead. Watch sport card radio. Even at 50 percent comps you be lucky get in profit every month
Wondering how the non-sports is doing? WWE, Starwars, Marvel UFC??
I wish Geoff the best and I think his hart is in the right place , but when it comes to money and card choices I think he may make the worst choices and I feel this card store is going to put him and his family in a two bedroom apartment one day. Fingers crossed that one day there are Card HQ stores around the world, but I think its all going to crash down on him while the hobby continues to get stronger and stronger.
They are doing very well for themselves.. lol
Ryan is too soft spoken and I can’t really hear him
I hate to be a party pooper but i am already concerned about this partnership. Night 1 of cardsHQ on whatnot and the company is already leaning too heavily on Mr Wilson to deliver the team to a championship. Inexcusable Carter and the guy whose missing his wife needs to carry a bigger load, instead they expect Mr Wilson to be the Luka Doncic of the team. 8 hours past midnight selling cards, this team needs to do a better job of load managing Mr. Wilsons contributions or he will be carried out on a stretcher, really disappointing.
Your guys buying 415k worth of cards are “listening to podcasts” and “checking the nfl standings” in order to speculate on cards?? WATCH THE GAMES! The eyeball test is a real thing, you cant truly know how well a player is playing if you dont watch them play! There may be a qb whos box score is 250 yds, 1td, 2 int. Well maybe those 2 int’s were tipped, or dropped by a receiver into a defenders hands, etc. i cant believe these guys are buying 415k worth of cards and just checking box scores🤦🏼
Lmfaoooo there should be a prop line over under how long this store will be up it feels like they’re in it all for the wrong reasons
We definitely watch the games when we can. Right now we have been set up at card shows buying every single Sunday so we mainly get to watch the prime time thursday, Sunday night, and Monday night games. Trust me, we wish we could watch more games than we can right now.
Why does this just feel like a trail of breadcrumbs for when they fail ?
First
Lol, this was hilarious. What a sh*t show.
What a way to waste money.
Since when did these issues enter your mind? Hmmmmm? Wow!
You guys seem tired now in very big trouble.
Another pump and dump show
What’s another example? I’m new here and to the hobby.
@@rookie_breakshe’s just trolling.
