Hi Phil, that was interesting to hear that your dad had a Hydrovane compressor set up from Binks Bullows. That is where myself, Martin and Steve here at SpraymanUK/Fluid Technologies did our apprenticeships. In fact as an apprentice I rebuilt the same model of Hydrovane compressor that your dad had for spraying Portafleck . Model Hydrovane PR303E. Still got it and still working well forty odd years later. Great listening to your dad, just like listening to my (late) father who was also a time served Painter And Decorator. Cheers Mike

So interesting listening to your dad, great wisdom and an oracle of knowledge. I remember my grandad teaching me to mix hoof size, it used to stink to high heaven! I remember people having different wallpaper on the same wall with the joints divided by a 1 inch decorative tape, expect your dads done this. Brilliant video Phil, bring on episode 3 👍

When i was an apprentice, we painted every wall with a 7 " brush, hard work but it was the only way. I learnt my spraying using multi flek paint. The tools of the trade have improved 10:fold. Years ago the only decent brushes were Hamilton but they were no good when new. Keep up the great work Phil. P s lead based eggshells were terrible if the room wasnt ventilated

    Respect to your dad Phil.
I remember the big stripping machine. We would set it up in the room close doors and have an early brew. By the time finished tea break go back in places paper would be falling off. The flour for paste was a bit before my time. I was bought up on the LAP and solvite I preferred the solvite myself. A Saturday morning I’d get sent down the joiners yard armed with pink primer and a knotting pot to prime all the timber that was going into an upcoming job.
Well done Doug, respect to you.

I did a staircase years ago which I'm sure was lead paint. Burning it off 😮 I wasn't aware of this risks of it. Your father has some great knowledge. We really are spoiled today painting compared to when your dad started out.
