2:47-4:21 That is legitimately one of the most beautiful instrumental sections I've ever heard. The choral singing is so haunting and beautiful, the guitar is so soulful and powerful... the whole song just exhumes a gloriously dreadful and primal atmosphere, and is wonderful overall... but this part is just my favorite.
That's my favourite part too!! It is so calm and atmospheric, distinctively contrasting from the rest of the song! It's like a period of calm and piece between wars (between the wolves and the snakes obviously). And the "dragon" who summoned the council is sitting somewhere afar, watching them beating each other for the sake of power, while enjoying popcorn xD
HELLBOY GdT its dimmu grasping for straws as they gasp for breath in old age. dont fall for it. n i bet its 1000% written by their producer as all sell out bands like tallica do
"We are gods in the making We are here for the taking Yield to the dragon's embrace We are of transcendence We are wolves and snakes" I've been replaying that part over and over because the choir keeps blowing me away.
When I saw them years ago live he never did it once. But he does look at his guitar plenty...but more of a ‘I’m struggling to play a riff and need to concentrate’ sort of way.
I started off with Cradle Of Filth first with Babylon A.D then Sorgens kammar del ll. I never thought I'd even like Black Metal cause I started off with bands like Korn, Evanescence, and Slipknot then gradually slipped into metalcore but then I got bored of that over a while and got hooked on deathcore. The extremity made me want more. And the atmospheric instrumentals really catch my attention along with symphonic elements. Blackened Deathcore in my opinion is so beautiful. Carnifex, Chelsea Grin and Betraying The Martyrs gradually got me into the black metal scene. But not just any black metal but the kind where it has breakdowns cause I live for breakdowns. That's where COF and DB had that influence on me and the vocals are superb. I mainly listen to Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, and Chelsea Grin today. My three favorite bands handsdown.
I wasn't too sure at first, but the more I listen to, the more I WANT to listen to this track... I don't know, it reminds me of some classic Dimmu, I get moments of old school black metal roots, but then something entirely new and different, that primal feel with something else, I can't put my finger on it....but I like it...truly hoping to hear more like this.
I had this exact same feeling, the more i listen, the more i want to listen haha, at first it was weird, but then i was listening this song 6 times and thinking "Wow, this is experimental, of course, but it's awesome as well". And the curiosity and willing to hear the full album grown like a lot
out of all black metal bands I have tracked over the years, Dimmu has truly gotten better and better, they are very much about evolving oneself and they have been a shining example of that. Their philosophy has become more refined and are now entering what I would see as truly adept. When I watched the Gateways - forces of the northern night video. I know that I am not watching a music video but rather a sermon that is unmatched in truth and sincerity.
they do their own thing and make good songs(usually). Too many people hate on them for stupid reasons.usually fat neckbeards screeching that they aren't real black metal.
I really appreciate the way Dimmu has been able to evolve themselves to keep their music fresh and exiting. I also like the older albums like _Stormblåst_ and _Enthrone Darkness Triumphant_ , but if they had continued with this style they would probably have become one of these all-the-songs-sound-the-same-bands, and quite frankly I don't think I would be listening to them in 2018.
Come on they're following the formula of Abrahadabra, just inferior this time, now they have this "doomy" simple style and who knows when will they change their style, until that, they will keep being one of these all-the-songs-sound-the-same from Abrahadabra's style (just more boring) Abrahadabra is a masterpiece compared to Eonian
If their last track was surprising, this one is mind blowingly shocking. I love when bands get out of their confort zone and experiment with music. These guy could have easily recorded an Enthrone Darkness Triumphant clone, instead they decided to try new ideas. Personally, I like what they're doing. Can't wait to listen to the new record with a nice cup of coffee
Enthrone Darkness Triumphant re recorded in 2019 would been awsome :D but i really like this song...the other as well... and im sure oldschool dimmu fans will have theire part as well ...there is still some track unheard from the new album yet to come :)
When this song started, that intro when it drops, I thought it was a song from Enthrone. It is amazing. I love how the song starts off with the very folky Scandinavian melodies, then after the chorus become more of a haunting gospel. All the while the older melody style from enthrone darkness really shine through. Ps Enthrone Darkness Triumphant is my favorite album, but I love everything they make, even Gateways and their way more area rock inspired stuff.
We are Gods in the making ....... We are here for the taking ........ Yield to the dragon's embrace ....... We are of transcendence ...... We are wolves and snakesssss . Dimmu did well !!!!
As a massive Dimmu Borgir fan....There is nothing to hate about this song. It's experimental, heavy, beautiful, and overall massive. If you hate this song because it isn't "old" Dimmu, then you need to expand your mind and horizons. "Herp derp, it's not heavy enough....This isn't true black metal herpity derp."
I'm a big fan of their music, and yeah I really love Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia...but I don't want them to just do another one of that. A lot of the negative response seems to be about them NOT just doing what they've done previously. I don't want them to be like Cradle of Filth, constantly burping out the same album over and over. They're experimenting and evolving their sound, and that's awesome. It's not 2001 anymore. Why should Dimmu cling onto the sound and style of music they were making 15 - 20 years ago? Because some fans are stuck in the past and want to be Trve Kult posers? Sod that. Dimmu are evolving their sound and I'm all for it.
first time hearing this. never was a fan of Dimmu Borgir, but my goodness - the melodies, the vocals - powerful and haunting, the ride the music takes you on.....love it and ill have to check out this album for sure
This is not a kind of song that I expect from Dimmu Borgir, but it's awesome! Different atmospheres, different styles, fantastic production. Sounds really good! I'll buy it!
yuletide Actually I found that Interdimensional Summit was an enjoyable song, but the overuse of symphonic elements just killed any dark vibe it had. This one on the other hand got a nice mystic touch imo, even if it's more like blackened folk
I was absolutely blown away by this whole album, and I have been listening to Dimmu since 2002; their first albums were so classically black metal and then they progressed into beautiful symphonic black metal and NOW they are at this level where I feel like they are pushing the limits of what symphonic black metal is and they are delving into this new area and it's amazing and I hope they do more. I really miss Vortex and his clean vocals but to hear Shagrath do such amazing clean vocals on this is just excellent. 🤘
Dimmu Borgir continues to put out awesome music. First heard these guys when XM was first out. Now I can’t get enough of them. Would love to see them live. I bet it’s a helluva good time.
This band has inspired me to create my own band. If it was not for them, I don’t know where I would be as a musician. Thank you Dimmu for being so GOD DAMN bad ass. Good shit guys!
I loved it.. Dimmu Borgir is more experimental and atmospheric than before but obviously still Black Metal. The climax of this tune is wounderful dingy dark with simple sonority but to much Surrounding and i guess new album with be score 10 for sure.. lets see!
This track is probably their most experimental to date, yet it's also primitive and dark. The heavy guitar reminds me a bit of Mgla. I was afraid they were turning into Epica/Nightwish, but I'm really digging this track!
Depends on what definition of primitive you envision. If primitive means old school black metal: then no, not primitive at all. If primitive means simplicity or tribal: then yes.
Whoaaaaaaa.... probably one of the most risky and experimental song they released yet, but a true master piece !!!! i wish this song would never end, switching between slow and fast atmospheres... Congrats guys !!!
- And I as well...it certainly is different from past DB material. Still, as musicians and artists they must be allowed to experiment musically. So some folks are gonna bitch that the new material sucks while others will like it. However, if they keep putting out the same sound on each release with no change; then folks will bitch about that, too....never ending.
Such a brilliant song. The so good feels like a journey with the slower, dark beginning then the transition that goes into total old school Dimmu, which that riff is insanely goid, then a more atmospheric black metal riff, going back into that nasty old school Dimmu riff. Great structured, well written, and takes listeners on a ride. Love it so much!
People forget this album was a reflection of time. To the past. Not a literal throwback to their old music. Its geared around the years they have been a band. And with time, comes change, people come and go.
This song is great! Ive listened to it 12 times and already downloaded and added to my phone! lol..You haters have to undrestand that the trio writing core of Shagrath, SIlenoz and Galder are evolving, changing and growing. Its not going to sound like Puritanical or Death Cult. Those albums were 17 years ago! Its not going to sound like Insorte because that was a much larger group effort. Now I did expect it to sound more like Abrahadabra but so far its not even close to Abrahadabara...and thats cool because it gives you something to endulge and decipher...something different and new. I garuntee the next single or more songs on the album pick up the pace and blast away. I feel the album as a whole will be very balanced. I cant wait for May and Eonian!!!
Far better than the previous single. Innovative music and quality atmosphere, that's what I expected from Dimmu, and if in my opinion they didn't do it with "Interdimensional Summit", this one is more of a success.
They said the album is an amalgamation of everything theyve done, Interdemonsonal summit felt like abrahadabra, so its likely we will get shit closer to everything else as well

A new chapter in the work of Dimmu Borgir, I like it! Something completely new and fresh. A combination of a good sharp fuck with melancholy inserts. I can not wait for the album !!
Alors que dire sur Eonian... Un aboutissement, une grande maturité mais pas forcement black metal. Black sans aucun doute. Metal sans probleme mais pas black metal. Dimmu borgir a grandi et mûri donc ça musique aussi. Once and for all!!!!
Having not produced new music in quite some time, this is what Dimmu Borgir needed; a new, fresh sound. One that doesn't compromise the music they have produced in the past but one that allows them to continue to evolve and grow and progress forward. Being stuck in the past would have done them no good.
Oh Satan, I reeaally anticipate this album!!! So different from everything they've made before, yet absolute beautiful. Also, I caught some Sepultura vibe from that 1:29, made me so happy! I can't wait for this to come to us!
Compared to Dimmu's standard this song is weak af. Saying people who speak poorly about this song "know nothing about music" is retarded. People saying this song is good literally know nothing about good music.
Kvlt You're comparing different styles you absolute moron. This is an excellent composition (and it takes a special kind of stupid not to hear it), but because you don't like its STYLE compared to Dimmu's usual STYLE you consider it "weak". And your username is Kvlt? lol right
Its weak because nightwish have been riding with it for years now. The only thing dimmu did different is that they added some deathstars elements. This is superb tier garbo.

I have been listening to this for some days but now I have to admit I have been awaiting for new Dimmu Borgir songs since I have known them, after their last album was released. AND THIS SONG IS AMAZING!
Ha ha ha I'm crying tears ,you made me spit my coffee all over my clean bed sheets psml, most laugh out loud comment I've seen in along time ,class mate :)
The people bitching that the middle of the song is the only part that sounds Black Metal, CLEARLY didn't listen to early Burzum... Or Bathory for that matter... You call yourselves Black Metal fans?? I love this song, and personally anticipate the album...
Scriosin I agree. Black metal isn't always Gorgoroth's Penagram and Antichrist, or 1349's first three albums. Black metal has its softer moments; for instance, Carpathian Forest's Black Shining Leather, and some tracks from Immortal. Besides, Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon are pioneers of third wave of black metal. Or, as some call it, "black and roll".
Adem Can Vaner Dimmu was never a brutal black metal but symphonic black metal and this band was appreciated a lot. Dimmu lost it or at least isnt a BM band anymore. It has nothing to do with elitism or brutality but quality
However this song has a lot of nods to the early black metal style. This song is black metal more so than a lot of the current stuff bands are putting out there.

Sounds better than their previous recent efforts, sounds like a return to a more classic Dimmu sound. These guys really are the Metallica of the black metal world, head and shoulders above the rest.
I love all of their music. The early stuff was fantastic and sounded similar to a lot of other black metal. What they have been doing the last several years is all a sound of their own and it’s all great in my opinion.
dimmu borgir refers korpiklaani, insomnium and keep of kalessin in this song... it is another masterpiece.. this album is similar with amorphis and ghost albums. a lot of references and sending tributes..
The more I listen to this, the more the dark atmosphere that has plagued my mind as of late conforms to it, and the more I enjoy it. Very unique and motivationally vile. Well done, and thanks again Dimmu Borgir.

not many, considering their older stuff was very good and not calm like this
Iloveleafy HELL YEAH IT IS !!!!!! IM IN LOVE WITH SHAGRATH 💗 HAIL DIMMU BORGIR . THANX AND CHEERS FROM SHERIDAN, WYOMING 😈💗💋
I love it more than the first video! ;)
Horus Legacy ITS AWESOME BUT I LOVE ALL THINGS DIMMU BORGIR 😈💗💋
Tracey Fitzpatrick You can't love this more than I do !! 🤘 Magnificient Music
This song is a masterpiece. Very professional it's being awakens my darkness...
"...downloded it and added to my phone" Typical mallcore kid with shitty listening habits and an equally shittier taste.
Does anyone else hear similarities to Rotting Christ? anyway, great song, love both singles and can't wait for the album :)
I love the textures and sounds they use in these new songs. It is dark and triumphant. I can't wait for the new album.
Far better than the previous single. Innovative music and quality atmosphere, that's what I expected from Dimmu, and if in my opinion they didn't do it with "Interdimensional Summit", this one is more of a success.
Thomas To ...agree.... better than the previous single
They said the album is an amalgamation of everything theyve done, Interdemonsonal summit felt like abrahadabra, so its likely we will get shit closer to everything else as well
Ya, that was like the radio friendly single
Wouldn't say better than the previous but more of a risk that paid off
i would have loved if the chorus part was sung by ICS Vortex
Like a lot of parts on Eonian, and like a lot of other things that could've been better
Nomads plunging into the vast abyss
Unattached, fleeting through the chasm
Naked in pure darkness
Embracing the new dawn
We are gods here for the taking
Yield to the dragon's embrace
We are wolves and snakes
Yield to the dragon's embrace
As pawns in this secret game
No one knows nothing
Yet, in the realm of sacred play
Everyone knows everything
A winged and secret flame
Leaving this paradigm
A dimension we are set to flee
We are gods in the making
We are here for the taking
Yield to the dragon's embrace
We are of transcendence
We are wolves and snakes
A winged and secret flame
Leaving this paradigm
A dimension we are set to flee
The arrival is in the departure
We are sculpted into life
By the hands of death
Man, I cannot WAIT for this album.
cannot wait to not buy it
Must be saving up for the new Celine Dion. Sweet. :)
I'm totally stoked by what I've heard so far.
Hell yeah
Tom Moran smoked em'
Definitely better than Interdimensional Summit!
I absolutely love this song.
YOU'RE A WIZARD HARRY!
Best black metal band in the world 🎩🕸🕷🖤🎶🎵🦇🤘
Superb composition, I'm impressed.
People saying this is a bad/weak song know absolutely nothing about music.
Compared to Dimmu's standard this song is weak af.
Saying people who speak poorly about this song "know nothing about music" is retarded.
People saying this song is good literally know nothing about good music.
Kvlt
You're comparing different styles you absolute moron. This is an excellent composition (and it takes a special kind of stupid not to hear it), but because you don't like its STYLE compared to Dimmu's usual STYLE you consider it "weak".
And your username is Kvlt? lol right
Aria Isara it's an awesome composition I agree with you! Very powerful!
Its weak because nightwish have been riding with it for years now. The only thing dimmu did different is that they added some deathstars elements.
This is superb tier garbo.
Confirmed, it's terrible. If you have listened to Dimmu since the 90's one can see how repetitive and boring they have gotten.

What? People hate this? This is the first time I ever cared about Dimmu Borgir, this is incredible! Sure, may not be black metal, but it's still good.
PS: the cinematography in the video is BEAUTIFUL.
Fabio1349 whinter thrice copt paste
but that song sucked so I involuntarily forgot it XD
that song sucked? that song is a masterpiece.
whoever did the costumes and makeup should get some credit too
The video looked great on my 65 in 4k tv
this album has everything to receive good reviews. excellent job. waiting for the release. and by a possible passage through Brazil
I like sagraths voice and dimmu borgir style no matter if they are not purely black metal
One of if not THE best song they have ever wrote.... so good on so many levels... THANK YOU!
Dimmu Borgir never disappoints, in my opinion.
I have been listening to this for some days but now I have to admit I have been awaiting for new Dimmu Borgir songs since I have known them, after their last album was released. AND THIS SONG IS AMAZING!
This video is perfect! The video is as dark as the music. Who ever came up with the concept for this video did a beautiful job! Thank You.
"The arrival is in the pork chop... THE PORK CHOP!" ... I love these guys but that's what I hear...4:38
Underrated comment
I can’t unhear this now every time that bit comes up. It’s the pork chop song. And that’s your fault 😆
Ha ha ha I'm crying tears ,you made me spit my coffee all over my clean bed sheets psml, most laugh out loud comment I've seen in along time ,class mate :)
That's not the words guys.
Lololo..
But halirious all the same..
I love pork chops! Now I want some….😋
We are wolves and snakes
Yield to the dragon's embrace
🐉🤘🔥
Wow ! it's my favorite Dark Blackened Doom Power Sympho Metal song !
do you realise how stupid your comment is. Nothing wrong with the song, but that description is ridiculous.
Just "Black metal" will suffice...
Can't you simply laugh a bit...?
Yeah. It's obviously Symphonic Blackened Prog Death with Tibetan Folk influences you pleb.
@ witty : there' not a single element of black metal in this, wtf you talking about?
Damn this is good. Ive been following DB since Spiritual Black Dimensions was released. Eonian is a masterpiece.
For old school Dimmu fans: Playback video at 1.25x speed.
That's actually rather accurate. I won't be purchasing this album (needless to say)
dude... you couldn't be more spot on. I wonder why it isnt that speed.
stupid
Sounds way better
HAHA this actually works! ty =D
Been a fan since early 2000's, and they never cease to amaze me.
The people bitching that the middle of the song is the only part that sounds Black Metal, CLEARLY didn't listen to early Burzum... Or Bathory for that matter... You call yourselves Black Metal fans?? I love this song, and personally anticipate the album...
Scriosin
I agree.
Damn right!
I definitely agree with you
Adem Can Vaner Dimmu was never a brutal black metal but symphonic black metal and this band was appreciated a lot. Dimmu lost it or at least isnt a BM band anymore. It has nothing to do with elitism or brutality but quality
However this song has a lot of nods to the early black metal style. This song is black metal more so than a lot of the current stuff bands are putting out there.
Shagrath's performance on this one is really remarkable!
Shagrath should get an award for singing this song so perfectly...it is quite the performance ...😎
Hats off to this song, 10/10

Sounds better than their previous recent efforts, sounds like a return to a more classic Dimmu sound. These guys really are the Metallica of the black metal world, head and shoulders above the rest.
This song made me run through my wall juggernaut style!
Lmao, hope u took down every inch of it.
The Kool Aid Man says Oh yeah!
album of the year. Kick ass
I love all of their music. The early stuff was fantastic and sounded similar to a lot of other black metal. What they have been doing the last several years is all a sound of their own and it’s all great in my opinion.
Magnificent song
Fantastic and really atmospheric song !
The middle part is the worst... if you are reffering to the crap clean parts with stupid choirs.
+Unofficial yea get that “it has to be brutal and no cleans at all!” Nonsense outta here
Unofficial you're deaf
I am not even a black metal fan, but really, the clean parts from mid are hilariously stupid.
dimmu borgir refers korpiklaani, insomnium and keep of kalessin in this song... it is another masterpiece.. this album is similar with amorphis and ghost albums. a lot of references and sending tributes..
We should all be thankful for the music they put out. We'd be lost without it.
Sounds really good. I am excited for the new album ! :D
this track is spine chillingly magnificent
The more I listen to this, the more the dark atmosphere that has plagued my mind as of late conforms to it, and the more I enjoy it. Very unique and motivationally vile. Well done, and thanks again Dimmu Borgir.
Extremely gnostic; enough to destroy religious paradigms.
Interesting song and video! It's definitely dynamic. Looking forward to the album for sure!!! \m/
Hello Max.
They have evolved. This is amazing, powerful, completely outstanding!
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!
Great song tho.
Dinsdaaaaale!
Jyyzi Inquisition are not Spanish. They're Colombian.
Exactly, you said it! You know them to be Colombian, so you're not expecting the Spanish Inquisition!
Jyyzi I don't get it.. neither Borgir are Spanish.
