    The lyrics:
    The core principle of freedom
Is the only notion to obey
The formulae of evolution and sin
    Leading the way
    The rebirth is near completion
As we slowly awaken from slumber
As we slowly awaken from slumber
The malpractice of the spirit ends
    Gateways
When the gift is once again attained
    Gateways
No rules or restraints are longer valid
    Gateways
When the ancient future is reclaimed
    Gateways
No rules or restraints are longer valid
    Gateways
When the ancient future is reclaimed
    Gateways
It's all there for the eyes that can see
The blind ones will always suffer in secrecy
    For it is the omen
Of what lies submerged - breeding
    Untouched within us - bleeding
    The core principle of freedom
Is the only notion to obey
The formulae of evolution and sin
    Leading the way
    The rebirth is near completion
As we slowly awaken from slumber
To receive the light that shines in darkness
The light that shines forever more
    Forever more
Be the broken or the breaker
Be the giver or the undertaker
    Unlock and open the doors
Be the healer or the faker
The keys are in your hands
Realize you are your own sole creator
    Of your own master plan
Be the broken or the breaker
Be the giver or the undertaker
    Unlock and open the doors

Yeah. In fact, I actually think if anything, Scandinavia's the real part of the world that's more open to metal (except Denmark), but there fairly decent American metal bands for sure, like Tool or the Black Dahlia Murder, but in the way of black metal,
I just feel like American black metal bands are more like a bunch of wannabe's. You know what I mean? I mean, there are good American black metal bands (Skeletonwitch (or at least their later stuff), Goatwhore (sorta)), but still, I feel like they're just trying to fit into the mold of black metal in a way. But I do like other bands from outside of both Scandinavia and the US. Those bands are totally BRUTAL (Behemoth, Anaal Nathrakh (totally freaky, but I LOVE them).

Not really "heavy metal" it's metal but this is symphonic black metal. Symphonic for the orchestral elements and black for the type of vocals, aesthetic, and overall song composition but this is very very light black metal. I do recomendo cradle of filth if you like these guys though I dont like them.

    • @liamcampbell9087

To be fair, this song/album is nowhere near their prime. If you want a real taste of them in their element, check out the albums enthrone darkness triumphant, and spiritual black dimensions. Enthrone is older and more basic, a more mystical feeling. spiritual black dimensions is more technical, darker, and heavier.

The greatest most brilliant metal band of our lifetimes. They top Metallica and Megadeth in my humble opinion. Their mixture of clean vocals with Shagraths voice and the riffs/songwriting....just the best.

I just came here for the Guitar solo...but to the matter at hand. I personally think comparing these guys with Metallica and Megadeth is like comparing Burger King with Dominos. Yes they are both fast food but they are vastly different and as such, belong in a different category.

Song is extremely empowering to me. Especially the final stint from 3:00 to the end. The song helps me realize that I am the creator of my destiny. Through hardship i have learned that a higher diety, nor the universe, nor anyone, is going to help me create the life and existence that I want. I am the only one that can create the life that I want to live. Dimmu Borgir relays that message to us in this video

    The core principle of freedom
Is the only notion to obey
The formula of evolution and sin
    Leading the way
    The rebirth is near completion
As we slowly awaken from slumber
As we slowly awaken from slumber
The malpractice of the spirit ends
    Gateways!
When the gift is once again attained
    Gateways!
No rules or restraints are longer valid
    Gateways!
When the ancient future is reclaimed
    Gateways!
No rules or restraints are longer valid
    Gateways!
When the ancient future is reclaimed
    Gateways!
It's all there for the eye that can see
The blind ones will always suffer in secrecy
    For it is the omen
    Of what lies submerged
    Untouched within us
    The core principle of freedom
Is the only notion to obey
The formulae of evolution and sin
    Leading the way
    The rebirth is near completion
As we slowly awaken from slumber
To receive the light that shines in darkness
    The light that shines forevermore
    Forevermore!

if you're not a metalhead, we don't really wanna see your oppinion, and we really dont give a fuck :) thanks for understanding, DM are one of the greatest black metal bands, and for those whos saying metallica and so doesnt need the masks and the makeup to get fame, i just wanna tell you that TRUE metal is not about fame, its about real emotions and deep music\lyrics, and if you read or understood the lyrics youll get the point, if you didnt then dont judge.

    • @shadikal12345
      @shadikal12345 10 років тому

Who said metal was about fame?
1: Metallica is awesome and that's pretty much undeniable, but there is room for denial if need be. Sure their fame is one thing, but wasn't it their songs that made them famous? Sorry, I'm just trying to rush this particular point, so it's not completely finished yet and will have some editing done to it.
2: Sure, most people who don't enjoy metal see it only as a bunch of screaming guys and gals, but that's all they'll ever see so there's not much point trying to teach them that. If they want to know the lyrics, they'll find it out themselves. Or stay away from metal all together.
3: I just found this band today thanks to Dethklok and wow! Just wow!

    • @evilinme1
      @evilinme1 10 років тому

Putting a lot of emotion into your singing doesn't automatically make it screaming. Most all their lyrics are actually pretty easy to understand imo. All one needs to do is try and pay half ass attention. Plus DB's songs have a lot of meaning to them. But if people wanna be stubborn and not even try to look past the monsters that most people portray these guys to be and only see and hear what they want then thats their loss.

this is not black metal, nowhere near of it. Search for darkthrone or Burzum for example, then you will understand what "black" is. You illiterate douche.

Correction it's Symphonic Black meta. Though it is incorrect to call it traditional black metal. Though they somewhat began with similar style to the Second Wave Black metal. This is still metal and cannot hardly be considered fake. Though garrett34dylan is still incorrect with his views on Black Metal.

I do listen to their older stuff, and technically it is categorized as Symphonic Black Metal. Gets your facts straight before trying to correct me.
