I’m getting so many of them in nowadays Adam, it very easy to get knowledgeable on them. They are very sensitive & won’t let you away with doing 1 little bit at a time. But I do think that they are great cars when fixed right. Thanks mate 🙏🙏
Another tricky one. Well done, and thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences. As always, your videos are very enjoyable to watch. Much appreciated. 👍
I have this record a few months because I have put up a lot of Mazda stuff recently, but this one had me thinking & came back 3 times before I found the issue. So it might help someone out 🤞🤞👍👍
I’m not blowing smoke up your arse Peter but you’re a bloody good mechanic. I don’t know if that job stressed you out but if it did you hid it well mate. I always say, if it were easy politicians would be doing it.
Thank you Trevor, I just hate when the customer has paid good money and the car still isn’t fixed. So the only way to solve that problem is to keep your n going 😬😬😬 I recorded this 5 or 6 weeks ago and only yesterday i was talking to the owner & the car is now flying with no lights, thank god 🙏🙏

Good work on getting to the bottom of that one Peter, experience along with understanding for the win👌thanks for sharing, nice idea for holding the chain, put me down for one when you mass produce them😉
A very handy bit of angle iron with 2 bolts welded on 😂😂 A lot of people getting stuck with this P0101 air flow fault, so this should help quite a few out 🤞🤞👍
Hi Peter . Been following you for a while as Mazda owner. Great videos and effort to deal with problems. You just mentioned that those exhaust camshafts goes at 150000 km? What I have seen form servicing mazdas is that to long oil change intervalMazda recommends? Depend of usage I found that 20000 km is to much . As far as I can see it is major problem for all misshapen together with injector washers leakage.
I recommend oil & filter every 10,000 kms, most of the Mazdas that I see, I don’t have a service history on them. So maybe regular oil changing could help 🤔🤔🤔
Thank you,Peter for all of your videos. They are so helpful. I would like to ask you,why sometimes when start the engine rpm are at around 1800 for few seconds. Is that normal? Thank you!
I possibly should show this on a video, Yes . I reset airflow meter , egr initialisation & engine data reset. All in service functions on the Autel 😉👍👍
Apologies but I don’t have any content on the 2nd generation Mazda’s 😔😔 But it is most likely to be an EGR or Intake manifold being blocked with carbon 🤞🤞🤞 Watch out for injector washers leaking too 👍
This was the issue resolved, 3rd time lucky 😬😬 I first cleaned the intake manifold & ports. Then I replaced the exhaust camshaft & was not aware of the hydraulic tappets getting worn. And once I replaced them the car was sorted, thank goodness. I won’t fit a camshaft without checking ever again 😂😂😂
Hi Peter, i also have a mazda 6 im having the same problems for a while now and no one has fixed my car with many trips to the garage. Can you tell me the cost on what you have done there? Thanks
@@bazanderson5374 hi mate, P0101 air flow related faults can be caused by intake manifolds blocking, exhaust camshafts wearing or hydraulic tappets failing. Unfortunately to do all 3 can cost up to €2000. So it is rather expensive 😬😬😬
@@kennedysgarage3281 Is it ever just a failure of the MAF sensor? Wondering if replacing the sensor is a reasonable first step. The ECU on my 2015 2,2D (70K miles) is also throwing up error codes for the SCBS(U0401, U0415), ABS(U0401) and TCM(U0442) in addition to the P0101. Thanks for all your content.
@@Teleport73 the P0101 is the issue that you need to resolve. All of the other faults stored are only INVALID DATA RECEIVED FROM PCM/ECM. I have had to replace airflow meters but generally only for a P0102 fault. I have videos on that issue also.

Yes, I could be proved wrong but only the 2.2D Skyactive from what I am seeing. I believe the problem is arising from a design flaw, causing the camshaft’s to wear every 150,000 kms 😬😬
Yes, absolutely. Are you based in Ireland??? We are in Southern Ireland, Waterford area to be exact. Google Kennedysgarage.ie to make an appointment 😉😉
I suppose FAI is relatively good 🤔 I don’t overthink the brand too much, but do only buy from reputable suppliers that will generally replace parts & pay labour if the part fails. Just my thoughts Jay 😉😉
They are Colin & can be expensive to make them right. Change the oil every 10,000 kms & injector washers every 80,000 kms this will avoid a lot of the common problems 😬😬
I appreciate you passing on your experiences, it helps build up our knowledge. Cheers mate
