One trick I've learned at rest stops and free camping sites. If there is a water tank marked "not suitable for drinking", I walk around it. If there are no pipes coming up from the ground into the tank, it's a rainwater tank and it is potable water.
Like your little butane gas cooker I have one myself great little thing went down to mystery bay for a week last month did most of our breakfast cooking on it was great.
I reckon its always great when you do these videos. Gives everyone an idea on whats available when you pass thru these towns. Thanks heaps - regards Marie. Forgot to add. We went up the Moonbi's towing the van and yes, its is a bit hair raising.
Great to hear you trying the free camps around. We did they same thing on our recent trip up to Cairns. What we found was the free camps ranged from unbelievably good to the absolute pits. In general, we found the best ones were those on the grounds of the local pubs...real country pubs are generally top notch for food and pretty good with the facilities for camping.
FREE CAMPING. You can’t beat it. 40 years of travelling this great land. In the lasts 10 years we have only had 22 nights of paid camping not counting donation camps. Keep up the great travels.
Thanks Allan. Sounds like quite an achievement 👍free camping is certainly a different experience. and there’s so many options out there Cheers Paul and Wenda
@@MikeBrady-o7t thank you, our van weighs 2995kg and carry another 500-600kg so our towing weight is around 3600kg. If we have full tanks of water that can bump it up to 3700. Our maximum weight allowed is 4000kg Cheers Paul and Wenda
Thanks for the journey. You have a very nice set-up. Please consider an external mike(s) for your camera as it was very difficult to follow your conversations in the car. Thanks Robbey

If you think Moonbi is bad, it's not as bad as the Toowoomba Range. The day I went up there with the van the byepass had opened that morning which I didn't know about. Love your channel I'll be coming back soon, hope to see ya on the road. Safe Travels, Bob & Sue
loving the videos, great places, great tips, and great company. You keep referring to "work"....may I ask what you do? I thought you were retired full time travelling. Cheers, Dennis
G’day Dennis, thanks 😊 we are semi retired. Wenda is a registered psychologist and provides telehealth services 2 or 3 days a week. I handle the intake and admin side of things. Still have a few years to go till full retirement Cheers Paul
Thanks for sharpening your experiences. It’s really nice to see your outlook on places I have been, and those I will never get to see. I’m trying to find those two hills mentioned but can’t find them . Was it out of Boombi hill?

I think that small towns that offer donation camps would be grateful if travellers donated more than the price of a coffee. Very stingy of you if I can so.
@Tilly Kelp. The stingy ones are the multitude who don't even leave their empty cans and bottles for the local charities, let alone a donation for use of the land to park on !!
How rude. You don’t know how much they spent in the area on fuel, food etc. That’s why small towns provide these camps, to encourage people to spend money in their communities
