That has been the case since the end of WWII
Britain has no Future, they can only look at the past to try and cope.
I would argue that too much that was learned was forgotten!

Thank you for this! Long after I bought a copy of R V Jones "Most Secret War" I found a favorite relative was a pioneer of radar in WW2 and knew a few of the people in Jones book. As an old english american whose name happens to be James Bond and who grew up listening to stories about what russian intelligence was up to along with much about ww2 this was rather enjoyable. I had another relative who was the only one I knew who wrote in green ink and had the right background I now have other questions I cannot get answered! Thank you Sir Max for some fine books.

American troops in landing craft = not bothering to watch
Homer the Homeless Guy........Most kids give their dads Ties for Fathers Day. His kids give him T shirts that they acquired at yard sales. When he travels, he packs only t-shirts. When it's cool, he doubles up with 2 t-shirts. When its cold, he triples up with 3 t-shirts. And when its really cold, he wears a blanket over his 3 t-shirts. Can't wait to see the blanket.
Bit embarassing that the Times couldnt get a picture of British soldiers (instead of Americans) when talking about British soldiers....
If those soldiers could see the future, they wouldn’t have bothered
I think it and the entire WWII should be not celebrated b😢commemorated through the 100th Anniversary. For one thing there’s not been such a huge war since and younger generations have no idea of the real danger, living in trenches filled with mud, water or snow or that horrible fly infestation and grueling heat in North Africa etc and they need to be reminded just like with the Holocaust we must never forget. In the future if we remain without a third World War then it needs to be celebrated that at least f😢X amount of years the world has stopped logging for more territory-maybe one day even Russia might get the message!
