It makes no sense to call JD Vance's joke "racist". Islamism is not a race, it's a political and religious ideology. It seems fairly unlikely that Vance is bigoted against South Asian people, since his wife is from India.
I've also heard a similar criticism levelled by Muslims from Muslim countries: That Britain is too soft on Islamists, because we don't understand Islam, and we're scared of being politically incorrect. Weaknesses which extremists know how to exploit.

Trump shockingly given Presidential immunity would have remained President by foul means had Vance been VP on January 6th 2021. January 6th happened because Trump thought he had presidential immunity for the Capitol Hill whether he remained or not remaining as President afterwards, but was infact immune but would have got away with it before and after gaining the immunity he was begging for and was desperate for.
It's disgraceful that the Supreme Court having given Trump immunity for Presidential felony acts have now made it iegal avenue for a losing President to incite a crowd at a rally to storm Capitol Hill to overturn a Presidential election result to remain as President instead of the winner of most electoral college seats in the Senate.
