to be honest, watching the video I was very touched, because it was done very cool and sensually, the song was chosen cool!! (I'm writing it down in my playlist✍️) My soul hurts for this team, and I also imagined a different outcome. However, if it weren't for the monstrous outcome that was in the game, we would not appreciate a good ending. And a good ending is easy to come up with, and the atrocity that we saw could only be thought up by the developers ahaha AND I LOVE THE ENDING OF THE VIDEO, it brought me to my senses and didn't let me completely burst into tears. A lot of fans talk about how Curly should have killed/frozen Jimmy, or let Anya have the gun... but we have the hindsight bias, we know how things turned out. If you were in Curly's place, having the responsibility to keep your crew alive and working together, be a reasonable leader, and emotions are already running high, would you really be able to put your co pilot and close friend out of commission? I don't think I'd do any better. I bet Curly is haunted by his choice in the end and wishes he'd acted differently so things could have happened more like the video, it's so tragic that he's completely helpless to do ANYTHING and yet conscious to witness the downfall... And Jimmy literally crashed the ship literally the day he found out Anya was pregnant. He could've definitely been more active instead of procrastinating or smth, but bro doing nothing for 2 days shouldn't be representative of what he would've done if he had more time. Alsooo I'd like to add that the "alternative universe" sequences are Curly's imagination. It's a very idealized version of what would've actually happened if Jimmy didn't crash the ship. Reality would've been much messier than the happily ever after that was presented here, but Curly's just so full of guilt and self-hatred (and is probably tripping out on drugs and excuriating pain lol) that he believes it would be true. Another stress point is that he had been feeling the pressures of being the captain and didn't want to take on anymore work. While Curly isn't a bad person or immoral character, he isn't a "good" one or moral righteously either. I'd say he's more of a morally gray character with mental health and stress issues. (Alongside everyone else basically.) That's what I like about this game, the characters are complex instead of just plainly a "good" or "bad" one. ( Obviously except for Jimmy, but there's also some points for him that he was very into his delusions and genuinely thought he was doing good stuff.)
