It is set in time when the Targaryens have already ruled Westeros for a 100 years and are at the peak of their powers. The show will feature Starks and Lannisters and other great houses as well but it is mainly about the Targaryens. The story revolves around the succession to the Iron Throne. The relationships, drama and politics are at the heart of this story. The characters are grey and the cast looks all set to bring that to life on the screen. The female characters of Rhaenyra Targaryen, Rhaenys Targaryen and Alicent Hightower are major players and are at the center of the story. And yes there are LOTS of dragons in the show.17 Dragons have been confirmed and are set to feature in the first season. They are bringing the details of the books to life with different colour schemes, different personalities and having saddles on the dragons. If you thought that Dany's dragons were big, oh boy you are in for a lot of surprises. We will see dragons ranging from mere hatchings to some of them being 60-70 year old and one which is all the way up at 180 years old.The trailer actually does a great job of misleading the viewers about amongst whom the conflict is taking place. Dreamfyre is the dragon who is the mother of Dany's dragons and we will get to see her in this show.Elissa Farman stole the eggs and sailed to Essos and sold them to the Sealord of Braavos and then Illyrio somehow gets them all those years later before giving it to Dany. That incident though takes place 45 years before from where House of the Dragon will begin and isn't connected to this story but thought of letting you know👍
Dany's dragon eggs were bought by Illyrio which he claims came from the shadowlands beyond asshai. The location of the eggs stolen by Elissa Farman is currently unknown, they could have been scattered over the years or possibly still in braavos.
Fun fact about Viserys from season 1, he is named after the current king in this show Viserys Targaryen who is the cause of the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of Dragons, which was also referenced GoT as the last time dragons were used in a military capacity due to the damages they caused

The guy with white dreds is Corlys Velaryron. The Valaryons were also from Valyria, like the Targaryens. They were sort of like cousins, and sometimes intermarried with them. They were known as seafarers, and a Valaryon was usually the admiral of the king of Westeros' navy.
The showrunners for this are Miguel Sapochnik (the guy who directed some of the best action episodes in the original series) and Ryan Condal (a GRRM superfan who apparently feels very strongly about keeping true to the source material), and of course George himself is involved. I was disappointed with the way the show went in the latter seasons, I think the Jaime in Dorne arc was the beginning of the drop in quality and when they truly started to veer off the beaten path of the original story, so knowing this is being created by a talented team with the full source material to work with I'm actually pretty optimistic - something I never thought I would say again about a GoT property after 2019.
I've been so skeptical about this project but I can't lie, when I saw Miguel was at the directing front, it made me give a huuuge sigh of relief. And Ryan is such a nerd in the clips she's showing off random bits of lore and weaponry - it makes me absolutely GIDDY. One of US!
The reason Drogon was able to destroy Euron's fleet the second time was because, Daenerys wasn't attacked by surprise and she used one of Aegon the Conqueror's old tricks of dive-bombing down using the sun as a shield. The scorpions were strong, but too big and not very functional...
I get what you're saying, but it was pretty comical that not only could Dany not see Euron's fleet from way up in the air, but that Euron's ships went 3/3 when hitting Rhaegal and then couldn't hit Drogon at all lol
@@josephwantock1993 and that's the stupidness of the writers coming into play and deciding to have Scorpions be super deadly one second and useless the next. And yeah the whole Dany forgetting about the Iron Fleet thing is total garbage.

@@lazarusboi6289 Yep, badass sea people they are, I’m figuring GRRM based them off the Venetian Sea Empire of the Medieval Age, known for their massive navy and trade empire.

I'm ready to put those feelings to rest. I'm excited for this show. And I think it would be best to just not hold ill feelings about GoT against the new show(s.)
After I don't know if it will be like exactly in the book but anyway Rhaenyra marries her uncle if you saw the blood ties scene. Then we really see at the end of the trailer that he undresses her and especially when daemon says: “Princess Rhaenyra was a different matter. Daemon spent long hours in her company, enthralling her with tales of her journeys and battles. He gave her pearls and silks and books and a jade tiara said once to have belonged to the Empress of Leng.”
Something to keep in mind with regard to dragon warfare within this show is that its not just soldiers versus dragons. This is a civil war and there are dragons on both sides. This is dragon v dragon.
The guy with the dreads is Corlys Velaryon, the Sea Snake. He is married to King Viserys’ cousin, Princess Rhaenys. The situation with Daemon and Rhaenyra is exactly what Viserys and Rhaenys went through because of their grandfather King Jaehaerys. Rhaenys was the eldest grandchild, and the only child of Aemon, Prince of Dragonstone and Lady Jocelyn Baratheon. Viserys was the elder son of Prince Baelon and Daemon is Viserys’ little brother. Edit: I suppose the stuff with Rhaenerya and Daemon is a little different, because when Viserys fathers sons with Alicent Hightower…welp, that’s when the REAL shit happens.
matt smith character isn't the villain. he even started his own kingdom when he conquered stepstones. he later on married his brother's daughter and had 3 sons whose line is still lived on until daenerys. he took part in dance of dragons which this show is covering a civil war between targeryens family that nearly ended their family with any targeryen's or dragons left

I'm kinda curious if the Targyareans in this show will be able to survive fire like in Game of Thrones or if during this show we will see that it was actually a spell cast with the pyre scene that hatched the dragons. This series is about Rhaenyra and her half-brother Aegon II when he stole the Iron Throne from her and there begins the Civil War between the blacks (Rhaenyra and her supporters) and the greens (Aegon II and her supporters)
That awkward conversation that must happen at a Doctor Who reunion... "So how's your acting career going?" "Well, since playing the Queen's husband in The Crown, I've taken another royal role with HBO in the Game of Thrones franchise. You?" (very Scottishly) "I'm Scrrrooge McDuck!" 1. I’m hyped for this show. I think they will land this one better since they have source material for all of it. 2. Put some respect to Daemon. Matt Smith is going to kill this role.
The people with the white dreads are members of House Velaryon, a very powerful house in the crownlands, they were very powerful because of their mighty velaryon fleet. It was this fleet that transferred aegon the conqueror’s men from Dragonstone to land. And their part in this civil war will be legendary cause their fleet did massive damages to the greens and also the tall man with the dread is Corlys Velaryon ,head of the house and husband to Rhaenys Targaryen. They had two children Laena and Laenor. Laena rode Vhagar before she died giving birth to Daemon’s son. So their connection with the Targaryens has been from Valyria.

It’s an interesting move to make the Velaryons look a bit distinct, but the Targaryens and Velaryons have married each other so many times that they’re genetically the same family.
The music is Jenny of Oldstones. Though a song about Ser Duncan the Tall's wife haunted by the Tragedy at Summerhall, it pretty much fits the narrative of the Dance of the Dragons.

I believe the black guy with the white dreds is from a different family that are from Valyria; so he’s not a Targaryen. It takes place 200 years before Game of thrones
The family with dreads are the Velaryons, they are of Old Valyria like the Targaryens. Silver/gold hair and purple eyes are traits of the blood of Old Valyria, not just Targaryens.
Just from the trailer you can see little details from the book they could have very easily skipped over or brushed off, but they did them anyways. Makes me really hopeful for this show

These eggs are clean, shinny, you can see the scales on them are "alive".. there is a difference.
The fact that they just dropped the whole Euron plot (which is far more interesting in the books) was just a sign to me that things weren't going to go in a fun direction. But that's just the very tippy top of the iceberg with how the show went down. That Targaryen armor is just so fucking stunning - I'm feeling as pumped as I was when I saw Ser Arthur Dayne (who deserved _SO_ much more screen time and background.... 🙄 and a REAL Dawn...) I just hope I don't become deflated as quickly as I was with the Sword of the Morning.
Unpopular opinion but I like the dragon design from GOT. These dragons looked really clean and smooth/polished and don’t look as good without the face scales and horns that Drogon, Rheagal, and Viserion had
Daemon (played by Matt Smith) is not really the antagonist even though they made him look like it. The real anthagonists are actually the hightowers and Aegon II. The guy in white dreads is Corlys Velaryon. The Velaryons are rich valyrian family fom driftmark, which is an island close to dragonstone.
I’m telling you this series is gonna surpass GOT. And I LOVE game of thrones. The casting is spot on to me. And yes thank you Eric!! The music is FANTASTIC in this trailer. I read the dialogue in this is incredible
The composer is the same as Game of Thrones and Westworld, Ramin Djawadi, he's know for doing lots of covers like that in his shows. From Metallica to Billie Eilish, he makes great covers out of everyone!
The whole idea of this show is (spoiler alert) that they begin in the apice of their power, with 20+ dragons, and because of sucession matters, that could have been resolved had Viserys married his daughter to his son, ends up with the targaryens power much diminish and no battle worth dragons left, almost all of which dead during the conflict.
I mean 'veered off' is being generous. Broad points will be very similar to the original show IF Martin ever actually finishes the book series (but he won't of course)
I’m very interested in seeing how they handle this story and who the protagonists are. There are truly abhorrent people on both sides of this conflict. Who are they going to try to convince us to care about?

Yea George confirmed the eggs stolen are not Danys.
Fun fact about Viserys from season 1, he is named after the current king in this show Viserys Targaryen who is the cause of the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of Dragons, which was also referenced GoT as the last time dragons were used in a military capacity due to the damages they caused
not the only cause
@@FlyingwithFire True but he was a major catalyst, it was his decision to ascend his daughter to the throne which resulted in the Blackfyre Rebellion leading to the Dance of Dragons at the Fields of Fire.

One of US!
Aaron's watch tan is crazy. I couldn't focus on anything he was saying because I kept looking at the watch tan. LOL

The dark Targs are actually House Valyeron which fled the doom along with House Targ, They are known for being the Naval and Merchant Power of the West, while Targ's of course are Air Power. House Val had the ships House Targ needed to flee the Doom

I had mixed feelings about this show, but this trailer has really sold me. The source material being finished also gives me some hope it will be good.
I've said this before. I loved GoT, the last season left a very sour taste in my mouth. However, that had nothing to do with the cast, lore, production quality or the vast majority of the show. I'm ready to put those feelings to rest. I'm excited for this show. And I think it would be best to just not hold ill feelings about GoT against the new show(s.)
Game of Thrones in its prime was the only tv show that gave me the same visceral reaction i usually only get from watching sport!
After I don't know if it will be like exactly in the book but anyway Rhaenyra marries her uncle if you saw the blood ties scene.
Then we really see at the end of the trailer that he undresses her and especially when daemon says:
“Princess Rhaenyra was a different matter. Daemon spent long hours in her company, enthralling her with tales of her journeys and battles. He gave her pearls and silks and books and a jade tiara said once to have belonged to the Empress of Leng.”
I was disappointed they didn't film back in Belfast again I loved worked on thrones from s2 to s7, it brought soo much to this place.

Something to keep in mind with regard to dragon warfare within this show is that its not just soldiers versus dragons. This is a civil war and there are dragons on both sides. This is dragon v dragon.
House of the Dragon will happened around 120 AC (After Conquest) to 131 AC. For information Game of Thrones happened during 298 AC - 305 AC
