After taking Zinc for a long time and ending up with serious health problems it was a life changer to finally discover i was Copper deficient. I stopped zinc immediately and took 2mg Copper daily and within days i was a different person. My energy and strength returned, my mood and general well-being too. I was astounded to gradually over several months see my hair return to its natural brown color and my skin too improved greatly. I also developed severe bone pain and walking difficulties but thankfully my health has returned to normal....😊
it's a common problem that people think because something it is natural it is healthy. The ratio of these nutrients are critical. Small mistakes can have big consequences

Hey Spinewise, I loved your video because of the nice biochemical overview of the relationship between Cu & Zn. The risk of induced Cu deficiency (to subclinical levels) is huge given the high rate of Zn intake, both naturally in meats and through supplements, but no one talks about Cu. Moreover, a decent and agreed upon method for testing Cu (aside from the ratio you mentioned) doesn't seem to exist. (See "Copper deficiency may be a leading cause of ischaemic heart disease (DiNicolantonio, J.J., et al., 2018).
Extremely rare. Copper is freaking everywhere!!! Zinc isn't. Copper sticks inside your body..zinc doesn't. Almost impossible to be copper deficient..at least for 98% of people
Thank you. I really appreciate your video. I experienced copper overload. Spilled into my liver and brain. Chelated it out. I hope that never hapoens to me again . I see now, from your explanation why I got mentally ill. I’m better now. The Copper turned the dopamine into adrenaline. Then we have copper, the mineral, and copper the metal ! We are talking minerals. I was the color of copper. I was rusty. Thx again.
Yes it’s true. They compete for absorption and the zinc will come out on top. Take them separately during the day. Take the copper in the morning for a dopamine boost and the zinc before bed.
Thank you for posting this video! you explained it really well and now i understand the connection between them. i just wanted to point something out, @6:53 time you mention that if we are producing metallothionein effectively we should find it removes all ZINC out of the system until the ZINC levels becomes higher than copper. i'm assuming that you meant to say that it will take out COPPER until all the zinc levels becomes higher than copper. is that correct? or did i not understand it well? Thank you again!!!! i learned from it.
Thanks for that, if I did say that is simply an error. Metallothionein has an affinity for copper over zinc. so zinc should always be higher than copper as a result of metallothionein functioning correctly.
@@spinewiseYT initially i thought i heard it wrong but then i saw that you were pointing at copper while saying zinc and then pointed at zinc and then mentioning zinc. I could tell that you meant to say copper. Thank you i loved the video and loved the way you explained it. Have a great day!!!
Thanks for posting this. Hard to find much on high copper. Both my daughters have high copper levels they fluctuated between 179-196 ug/dl and zinc between 58-68 ug/dl. Should the zinc serum levels be higher than copper? Both my kids suffer with ocd and depression too, SSRI’s do not help at all.
@christymceachern9727 look to DHA Labs for Pyroluria, plasma zinc, serum copper, and ceruloplasmin. If copper is high and ceruloplasmin is low molybdenum can help. Best to work w/ a Walsh Research Institute trained practitioner to figure out the details. Also synthetic estrogen (birth control) can raise copper.😮
@jonasbertilbellander no that's not true at all. Zinc deficiency doesn't occur because of a lack of zinc in the diet, it occurs because of excessive utilisation of metallothionein due to glutathione deficiency as a result of the metabolic stress placed upon the average person in a Western world lifestyle and Western world diet.

Best way to raise zinc and copper same time?

@@spinewiseYT thank you 😊. I hope it never happens again. I ruled out Wilson’s.
I started taking Zinc about a month ago to see if it helps with my depression and anxiety. It made a world of difference.
so glad to hear you found some help!
Need to balance it with copper
Never take zinc without taking copper. You will tank your copper levels really quickly by doing that.
@@nameofthegame9664 Have you tried a very low dose? 10mg is what I am taking.
is it true that taking them at the same time is not recommended?
my supplement contains 15mg zn and 1,2mg cu (both bisglycinate) in 1 capsule.
Taking minerals together can be an issue at times, but there are more important factors that influence absorption.

@@hapiness78 my pleasure. reach out if you need any help
yes he said the opposites 🙃
so the copper levels should be 80% of the zinc levels in the body, correct?
Also this has been really helpful
Generally 80 to 100% of zinc, not higher than zinc

when to use it and can you use it together please someone help
@emii7880 watch the video, all is explained. Always need to assess through labs
@@spinewiseYTcan i use copper of 2mg every 2 days on 15mg of zinc instead of using it everyday because there is no 1mg copper in my country

please give the example of Zink level are up and Cu level down instead
in this instance the issue is most likely just a copper deficiency

Cu defiency is common because Zink is high on most .
Agree ?
at 7:35 you say if zink is up and Cu is down
that's very uncommon
most has defiency in copper and too high in Zink
(due to the food we eat )

So do I eat Pennies?
Definitely, but make certain they are older than 1982. That's when they became 97.5% zinc and only 2.5% copper.
