For mods, I'd recommend one of the ones that allows you to put on and take off weapon mods so you can save them when you sell guns. Optional of course, but I think it makes sense to be able to remove a nightscope for a longrange scope from a varmint rifle.
Just found your channel and I'm really excited to binge watch the rest of this series. I miss this game, director's cut mod seems fun. You're a great commentator, keep it up brotha

Man, I love this game. So glad Jon's playing it again. I think I'd be able to watch Jon play Fallout 3 and New Vegas forever if he kept making the videos.
Text from the readme: "* I played with this mod for about 20 hours. That's the extent of its testing. Really. BEWARE." Well, that explains the state of New Vegas at launch.
DarkTechnical well, the focus on Fallout 4 seemed to be explotation, not quests. which explains why Fallout 4 has much better exploration than New Vegas, with being able to find stuff. As well as some other stuff, it's obvious they wanted to make a different game, and go in a new directiin.
Skalty I'm sorry but did you need a spelling coach its ok to say yes my brother needed one now he's in charge of the English department in the high school he went to. Oh green valley overcrowded but still decent
to think this series is nearly a year old is insane. easily the best run through of new vegas for fans who just want to see something unique out of a game they've played to death. obviously it cant quite top the tenseness of the YOLO series but its relaxing and almost a documentary on how a good fallout game works
Rewatching this for the 3rd time and still one of my favourite series on UA-cam!! Thank you for the delightful entertainment as always Jon. Much love from a long time Aussie fan ❤
I would recommend the Project Nevada mod if you want to change the game in small ways. There are parts of it that change the game a lot, but it's very easy to turn modify and/or turn different parts off. Adds things like a grenade hotkey, sprint function, etc. Also comes with its own difficulty modifications, but I suppose you already have that part covered.
Sadly, PN is not the most functional thing anymore. There is also the issue of it REALLY wanting FOMM. I used to run PN, i did so for at least a 400 hours, but it caused way too many bugs down the road. Also, I have 2800 hours in teh game and did not know about the moonshine back door. I always assumed that was just another entrance. Don't know why, as there isn't a door on that side.
For anyone reading this in the future - DO NOT USE PROJECT NEVADA. It’s buggy, unoptimized, outdated and crash-prone. Look in the Viva New Vegas guide under the ‘Mods to avoid’ section for far better modern alternatives to EVERY element in Project Nevada.
@@brilobox2 Ah, that's a shame. I never had a problem with it, although it's been years since I've used it. Still, it's good to know that alternatives are out there.
I know you playing FNV, but there is a run I want to see you do one day called Tale of Two Wastelands. It combines the Fallout 3 and NV into 1 game. Now the challenge would be you only live once two games at once!!! that will be your ultimate trial.
I've only watched the intro and this is already the best thing ever. I don't have a PC powerful enough to run any modern games- namely, NV- so thank you for playing JSawyer Cut
As for mods you can add, I'd highly recommend Nevada Skies (lighting and weather) : www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35998/? Millenia's weapon retextures: www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/38285/?
+MrSirShpee I had a look at it - its pretty at first, but I find some of the weathers more annoying than anything else, especially rad storms. I may give it a go, after checking for compatibility issues with JSawyer, as both mods strictly demand being the final thing in the load order...
Many A True Nerd Oh, that's unfortunate to hear. The effects are nice and the new sounds are pretty great. Also gets rid of the yellow filter, which I personally don't care for.
+MrSirShpee He also said he really enjoys the color filter. Which I can totally understand people like yourself, who don't care for it. But I'm with John, I think it gives the game a really gritty, desolate desert feel.
The Vault 13 Canteen might be the single most absurd piece of new game DLC kit. If you're playing on normal mode, hydration doesn't matter. If you're playing on hardcore mode, having an infinite source of water from the get-go makes a significant part of the gameplay instantly redundant. It was a brilliant idea by Josh Sawyer to scatter those DLC items throughout the wasteland as rewards for exploration.
I recommend this mod Jon www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/55334/? It's a mod that allows you to see your body when you look down. Fun mod to install, one of my favorites personally.
+iTunsiscool26 When I first got Enhanced Camera I spent half the time just looking down and being excited at seeing my feet. Being a floating camera always bothered me in games.
I share Jon's stance on mods for games, especially texture mods. I'm okay with quest mods and shit, but I just cringe whenever I see texture packs that completely overhaul the graphics. Especially texture mods that make a game look like a generic first person shooter.
***** Essentially, there's nothing wrong, but I can't help myself and see the texture packs that look terrible to me. It completely removes the game's identity. It's like a person who constantly tries to "improve" their looks by constantly getting plastic surgery as they grow older. It gets to the point where you can't even recognize them anymore.
Going to admit, I made this comment before I really looked into why they left, and I feel bad trying to just sweep this under the rug. I don't support this view anymore, but I'm leaving this as an archive. I feel the same way about Re-animation mods, like WAR and especially Asurah's, god I hate Asurah's so much
Just started watching this for the first time, and I absolutely love that you can hear how big of a smile Jon has at the very beginning. Makes me happy.
Your fallout 4 survival beta series is my favourite thing to watch in the world right now. I played NV to death long ago and the orange tint to everything now depresses me but I had to give it a bit of a watch since your content is so good.
Jon, You NEED this mod. www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/38056/? It changes pretty much nothing, except that the Strip is now all one zone. No random gates in the middle of the street. You can walk from the Lucky 38 to Vault 21 with no loading zones. Best part is that this is how it was meant to be; but then underpowered consoles came along and noped that idea.

It's so refreshing to see more of a walkthrough of such a great game. As apposed to a common Let's play. Especially with the director's cut. Which until today I didn't know was a thing. I mean, I thought I knew just about everything there is to know about NV. But i had no clue about either of the star caps in the beginning lol! 1 thing that I don't necessarily agree with however is the rate at which you are making jump cuts. I appreciate cutting out boring bits we don't want to see, I.E. walking. but it seems to happen really frequently.

I love it Jon , thanks so much for your time and effort . I have since watched almost every video on your channel , but enjoy the Fallout ones most of all .
Jon, Bright Follower corpses are guaranteed energy weapon drops. The weapon depends on whatever level you are. 1-6/7 ish= Recharger Rifle or Laser/Plasma Pistol 7-10 ish= Laser or Plasma Rifle 11+ = Laser RCW or Plasma Defender or Recharger Pistol. Doing "Come Fly With Me" is an amazing way to farm for some pretty damn good energy weapons and cells arguably early on in terms of story progression at level 8. You can then sell whatever surplus you have back in Novac to Cliff or one of the millions of traveling merchants outside the city. Level 14 is the latest I've ever encountered Followers, so I've only ever seen up to tier three loot. There could be higher levels of loot at 15+, possibly Tri-Beam Laser Rifles or Multiplas Rifles. I think it'd be hilarious if encountering corpses at level 25 or something close to that would drop Gatling Lasers and Gauss Rifles.
Everything about this mod seems great except... Whiskey and soda hydrate you? What? I think instead they should just give you a temporary buff that negates the stat penalties of being thirsty, but actually raise your thirst.
Soda can keep you hydrated. I've tested this on myself. I drank only soda for three days. In the last day, my level of hydration was sub-optimal but it was stable, proving that soda can protect you from dying of thirst. Beer seems capable of keeping a person alive, but only barely. Harder alcohol definitely cannot.
soda i can understand...whiskey? hell no, alcohol actually dehydrates you, you definitely would faster i also strongly disapprove of the needs starting at 400; if i go half a day without food i feel debilitated, and while i'm not going to test it and i have endurance marginally above paper mache, i'm pretty sure going 24 hours without food wouldn't kill me @@milesbrien6867 i practically live off of soda, coffee and tea personally and i haven't died of thirst
In new vegas coffee mugs, dishes, pencils, and clipboards are very valuable because you can use the owb machines to break them down to get duct tape, scrap metal, and wonder glue, all of which, along with scrap electronics, are very valuable because you can make the invaluable weapon repair kits with them. This makes junk in new vegas just as valuable as junk in fallout 4, burned/damaged books can also be used to make skill magazines with a certain perk, and pre-war books can be fed to the book chute to get blank books which can be used to make skill books. Junk has always been valuable in fallout, it was just made more obvious in 4, when previously junk had hidden but amazing uses that only a dedicated player could find, but would be very helpful regardless of level
yes i just started playing on pc i have all the unofficial patches, jsawyer ultimate, a first person mod that shows your body but i added the perk that increases experience rate by 30% bc i dont have much time for gaming these days!
+Many A True Nerd what about immersive hud? i find it appealing as it only shows the hud when you need it and you can change the settings for when you want the hud to appear and what not
Having just finished watching your Fallout 3: Kill Everything Run and enjoying it inmensely, just wanted to say I am excited to watch this series! did not know which of the four should watch first, but this will do ;) keep up the good work Jon!
Also Jon if you haven't already you should install this mod, The Strip Open. I forget who it's by, but basically is takes out all the loading zones between the Lucky 38 and the furthest south strip areas like the Ultra Lux, Vault 21 etc. It literally opens it all up into one big area and its just wonderful!
The GRA pack adds the MF Hyperbreeder Alpha, a fully automatic Recharger Pistol. You can pick it up in Novac and it is actually very capable as a sidearm if you are looking to save weight on ammo. Also, if you want a rifle sized energy weapon, you can get one from the graves over at Yangtzee Memorial (Assuming this mod hasn't removed it).
Hyperbreeder as sidearm? No way. It is very decent main weapon, with right perks (Laser Commader works on it) it can do high AF DPS. Deathclaws are melting in 1-2 clips.
I can't remember the name of that funny doctor outside of that place with the dinosaur, but if you only have 1 hit point left she has some unique dialog
Found out about a lot of neat secrets in this video, like the fact that looting the houses gains you a lot of skill mags and that clearing out the cave is worth it. Always handy to learn everything about the starter town in any RPG so that you can start new games with the best possible advantage, for example, I know at least 90% of all the secret locations and goodies in Morrowind's Seyda Neen, which is the town you start in.
Fun fact: Logan's Loophole in the base game is a reference to the Sci-Fi movie Logan's Run, in which everyone who reaches the age of 30 is executed. However in the JS mod it's a reference to the book that the movie is adapted from, in which people are executed when they reach the age of 21.

For mods, I'd recommend one of the ones that allows you to put on and take off weapon mods so you can save them when you sell guns. Optional of course, but I think it makes sense to be able to remove a nightscope for a longrange scope from a varmint rifle.
The amount of story detail and well written characters in NV considering the game was made in less than two years is nothing short of amazing.

Jon, would you get The Strip Uncut? It removes load screens between areas on the strip.

I'm so happy NV is back
I love how we can hear your passion for this game during this series. Easily the best NV playthrough on UA-cam.
Jon I just want to say that your fallout videos make me happy every time I watch them and I feel sad when they are over.
I don't think I will ever get tired of new vegas, at least not when its you playing it. I love it!
It makes me sad that this had such a short production time and still managed to have a much more robust quest system than Fallout 4.
Aye I guess that's what happens when they appeal to a mass market, but it's sad because they already had a huge market
DarkTechnical well, the focus on Fallout 4 seemed to be explotation, not quests. which explains why Fallout 4 has much better exploration than New Vegas, with being able to find stuff. As well as some other stuff, it's obvious they wanted to make a different game, and go in a new directiin.

to think this series is nearly a year old is insane. easily the best run through of new vegas for fans who just want to see something unique out of a game they've played to death. obviously it cant quite top the tenseness of the YOLO series but its relaxing and almost a documentary on how a good fallout game works
PostNukeProductions Easily the best mod for NV. Well, aside from the New California mod, that is.
I can't even believe this was nearly 5 years ago. Holy shit.
I know you playing FNV, but there is a run I want to see you do one day called Tale of Two Wastelands. It combines the Fallout 3 and NV into 1 game. Now the challenge would be you only live once two games at once!!! that will be your ultimate trial.
6 years later, your wish was fulfilled - kind of :D
@@rekaarnes I am one step closer to the ultimate playthrough.
As some other people have said, Millenia's Weapon Retexture Project is a great idea, I can't play without it.
Oh yeah, and some blood texture mod. I forgot what it was called, but if you look up "blood" on the nexus it would be the first one there.
I've only watched the intro and this is already the best thing ever.
I don't have a PC powerful enough to run any modern games- namely, NV- so thank you for playing JSawyer Cut
A lot of People were expecting kill everything redux. I wonder if the comments section will show that.
Haven't really been watching your other videos since the last New Vegas playthrough, but as long as New Vegas is in the title I'll click every time.
+Jeffrey Abarca I'm just not interested in the other games, but he puts out so much content, and it's more than enough to please everyone.
Why? It’s the worst fallout game of them all
As for mods you can add, I'd highly recommend Nevada Skies (lighting and weather) : www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35998/?
Millenia's weapon retextures: www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/38285/?
+MrSirShpee I had a look at it - its pretty at first, but I find some of the weathers more annoying than anything else, especially rad storms. I may give it a go, after checking for compatibility issues with JSawyer, as both mods strictly demand being the final thing in the load order...
Many A True Nerd Oh, that's unfortunate to hear. The effects are nice and the new sounds are pretty great. Also gets rid of the yellow filter, which I personally don't care for.
Anyway, that probably goes against what you said in the video about making drastic changes.
+MrSirShpee
He also said he really enjoys the color filter. Which I can totally understand people like yourself, who don't care for it. But I'm with John, I think it gives the game a really gritty, desolate desert feel.
Joseph Iles Right, that's why I said it doesn't fit with his opinion because it takes out the color filter.
The canteen won't stop dehydration. Thirst increases faster than the tiny amount of water it gives.
I just realised that you are shooting at the bar when sunny lines up the bottles XD. I guess she isn't concerned about the patrons!
I recommend this mod Jon www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/55334/? It's a mod that allows you to see your body when you look down. Fun mod to install, one of my favorites personally.
+iTunsiscool26
When I first got Enhanced Camera I spent half the time just looking down and being excited at seeing my feet.
+Zach Ritchie Why is that cringe worthy people are modifying the game to there liking nothing wrong with that
***** Essentially, there's nothing wrong, but I can't help myself and see the texture packs that look terrible to me. It completely removes the game's identity. It's like a person who constantly tries to "improve" their looks by constantly getting plastic surgery as they grow older. It gets to the point where you can't even recognize them anymore.
@@Thepoltergiest101 I thought that way at first but after playing with the texture mods for a while now I don't think I could go back
Going to admit, I made this comment before I really looked into why they left, and I feel bad trying to just sweep this under the rug. I don't support this view anymore, but I'm leaving this as an archive.
I feel the same way about Re-animation mods, like WAR and especially Asurah's, god I hate Asurah's so much

Your fallout 4 survival beta series is my favourite thing to watch in the world right now. I played NV to death long ago and the orange tint to everything now depresses me but I had to give it a bit of a watch since your content is so good.
Oh God 7 years ago I'm old
Jon, You NEED this mod. www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/38056/?

I appreciate cutting out boring bits we don't want to see, I.E. walking. but it seems to happen really frequently.
i haven't been so excited for a series in a long time... haven't seen or played new vegas in a long time even though it's my all time favorite game.

You could try using Project Nevada (minus the rebalance module, since you are already using JSawyer for that). It does some cool stuff; but it may be too game-changing for you.

I started watching your channel close to what , maybe 4 years ago now because of your Fallout New Vegas series that you were doing at the time , GREAT STUFF !!! I love it Jon , thanks so much for your time and effort . I have since watched almost every video on your channel , but enjoy the Fallout ones most of all .
Jon, Bright Follower corpses are guaranteed energy weapon drops. The weapon depends on whatever level you are.
1-6/7 ish= Recharger Rifle or Laser/Plasma Pistol
7-10 ish= Laser or Plasma Rifle
11+ = Laser RCW or Plasma Defender or Recharger Pistol.
Harder alcohol definitely cannot.
soda i can understand...whiskey? hell no, alcohol actually dehydrates you, you definitely would faster
i also strongly disapprove of the needs starting at 400; if i go half a day without food i feel debilitated, and while i'm not going to test it and i have endurance marginally above paper mache, i'm pretty sure going 24 hours without food wouldn't kill me
@@milesbrien6867 i practically live off of soda, coffee and tea personally and i haven't died of thirst
Saw a cup in the game. I was like "dude pick that up you can make a robot with that!" Then I remembered... not Fallout 4...

"That's quite dark.... Ooh a throwing knife!" That sounds like one of your quick clips like L.A. Noire
