just keep being a good supporter, jon runs for the most part on his fanbase. I don't know if it's good to have so much views and attract toxic people. I love the old small community youtube vibe on this channel.
I mean, those dozen nameless Primm residents had to live somewhere. Primm wouldn't make much sense if it were literally just the hotel, casino, Mojave Express, and a pair of shacks for the sheriff and deputy. Granted, that's exactly what I thought for the first couple months after the game came out.
Heh, missed the gear boxes on top of the lockers in Jean's Skydiving. :D The unique .357 is Lucky, available in Bison Steve inside a hard locked safe. You also can't always get to the Cowboy Repeater under the bed in the Sherriff's Office. There's also a second one under the reloading bench behind the desk right of the door. Keep an eye out for 20 ga pulse slugs. Those are very handy versus Robots later on. That Caravan on the way to the prison? That's supposed to be Ringo's. Night vision is on between 1800 and 0600, and off between 0600 and 1800. You can also talk to Victor and ask for help. He won't show up, but there's a 25 science check for a bit of XP after the fight is finished. You might want to try out the Weapon Mod Menu. It lets you remove weapon mods if you like, which sounds useless, but sometimes it's nice to have a silent varmint rifle, but without the scope. The mod allows you to carry just one and have scope/no scope depending on your needs. Alternately, EVE, or Enhanced Visual Effects, which makes energy weapons and explosions look much nicer.
Dear Jon, I write you from the far far lands of Germany and i want you to know that you are absolutely awesome ! The high quality of the videos and the channel overall is amazing. 17:19 - Nope. You're thinking of Lucky. The Mysterious Magnum is the unique .44, you get it from the Lonesome Drifter during Talent Pool. Lucky is the unique .357 found in a hard locked safe in the Steve Bison Hotel in Primm. P.S. - I'm not a mod person either but one mod that I quite enjoyed was just a basic sprint mod that will drain action points as you hold shift, just like it works in Fallout 4. Might want to look into the "Bottle That Water" mod. Allows you to to reuse bottles for water. The Packrat perk would probably worth getting with the weight issue.
I think the reason that mine went off when it did is because you stepped on it, the other times you never got as close as you had there. So maybe JSawyer figured that a land mine should go off if you land on the mine.
This video is one of the best looking you've put out yet. Made me abandon watching it on my tablet or computer like I normally do. This series is now dedicated to the 4k TV. Looks amazing at max resolution on the video. Great job as always

I've read elsewhere that the corpses at 26:00 are meant to represent the remains of Ringo's raided caravan, though I don't think this is ever explicitly stated in-game.
It's because the display fades between the two on items that have both DT and DR, but not on items that only have 1. So if you're looking at an item that has both and then switch to looking at an item that only has DT at the moment the counter is fading between DT and DR, it will simply be blank. You just need to then view an item that has both, wait until either DT or DR display is full and the switch. Couldn't think of a clearer way to explain so hope that makes sense.
There's a nice NV mod that lets you go from Ghost Town Gunfight to the NCR ending of I Fought The Law without having to first work with the Powder Gangers. Kind seems like something Obsidian should have put in...
You can actually do this in the vanilla game, although it's a bit tricky. Don't kill any of the Powder Gangers during Ghost Town Gunfight yourself, just attack them and weaken them enough to where the Goodsprings NPCs can kill them. I recommend stealth killing Joe Cobb first to make it a bit easier.
Bigleg99 Yeah, but it makes no sense in-character that you would help the Powder Gangers (even temporarily). Before I learned about that mod, I would just go straight from Ghost Town Gunfight to singlehandedly raiding the prison. It's just that now, I can get credit for it too :)
One group of mods you might want to look at are the New Vegas Uncut mods. They seek to restore content that was cut through patches or left unfinished. Just as an example the Outside Bets mod restores maimed NCR troops in the minefield between Nelson and Forlorn hope as well as adding skirmishes between the two factions in the area, among other things. Don't know if any of them bring back the two guys you always look for in Primm, but it's in the same line of thought. On a side note, just got through your only live once run on New Vegas and loved it. Thanks for the entertainment :D

Jon, if texture mods don't come with a esp or esm file, then they DON'T add anything new to the game. They only re-texture/replace the existing textures.
I know you said that you don't want anything to game changing. And i'm aware you're months ahead of this episode. But if you haven't already. I'd really suggest the mod "Project Nevada." If for nothing else than the sprint feature. It also makes it so that eye wear actually changes how everything is viewed. For example with the NCR helmet + Goggles, the sun will reflecting noticeably on your screen. Depending on the direction. and depending on the quality. The glass would be scratched, or have a bullet hole in it. It's a very nice mod.
WO! The completely off iron sight on the Cowboy Repeater got fixed! It's bloody impossible to hit stuff with it from a distance in the vanilla game if you have true iron sights on.
I always thought that Hardcore mode should've had it such that reloading gets rid of unused ammo in the clip (perhaps dropped - with remaining rounds in brackets).
Mind I do try suggesting turning down the brightness? I tried it with my FNV and it look 10 times more beautiful and realistic. Also try the mod Fellout or something similar.
50:28, missed some possibly very valuable Rad-X, though admittedly I'm not aware of how it might work with the Sawyer Survival mod. And I'm sure plenty of others will spam you with similar comments. Still, well done and very enjoyable, thank you Jon!
ManyATrueNerd if you really want the full Director's Cut Version of New Vegas, you need the New Vegas Uncut Series. New Vegas Uncut 1: Rotface to Riches New Vegas Uncut 2: A Koch and Bohr Story New Vegas Uncut 3: A Van Graff Scorned New Vegas Uncut 4: A Thorny Situation New Vegas Uncut 5: A Wilder Wasteland New Vegas Uncut 6: If It Wasn't For Betsy New Vegas Uncut 7: Pacer's Gambit New Vegas Uncut 8: Welcome to Fabulous New Vegas New Vegas Uncut: Outside Bets Each add a bit of cut content from NV that JeSawyer didn't restore, as JeSawyer was mostly a gameplay balance mod, not a full restoration mod. I also really want recommend the Someguy 2000 series of Quest Mods. The integrate incredibly well with the NV Storyline, are well balanced in terms of challenge and reward. They feel more like a episodic DLC than a fan made mod, save for the voice acting. Not that it's bad, but that's the only bit that shows it's just one guy working hard. New Vegas Bounties New Vegas Bounties II New Vegas Bounties III The Better Angels and the spinoffs The Inheritance King of the Ring and for Evil Jon, New Vegas Killer All these mods are linked together by the first mod, so that the storyline flows properly. As an additional Quest mod, for Britishness, I'd like to nominate Strangers Abroad, if only for the British companion you get.
+Thomas Anastasio I completely agree with New Vegas Bounties, but many of those Uncut mod were cut for a reason, especially the intro. The problem with NVB is that I don't know how compatible it is with JSawyer difficulty-wise. The combination of those could lead to incredibly difficult NVB.
jon, you're talking about missing the cowboy repeater in the sheriff's house - I don't think I've ever been in the sheriff's house. Played through NV about a dozen times.
You should try out the E.V.E mod, if you really like how that plasma pistol looks, pretty much overhauls the entire energy weapon supply, making them look glorious
For food you can take any planted food even if marked in red and you don't lose karma and no one goes hostile toward you... That is, unless J Sawyer changed that. That makes good springs a super good place to get all your survival needs. There's food in several gardens there.
I stumbled upon this channel looking up fallout 3 cuz I was thinking about replaying it.. I’ve only ever played and beat it once and was thinking about going for all the achievements.. I 100% fallout new Vegas and was thinking about 100% fallout 3.. anyway been hooked on this channel ever since
And to add to my inability to tell the difference between videos, I kept thinking that you needed to use the mattresses to save... Thanks for the video!
Jon, if you are feeling ambitious in terms of increasing the quality of your visuals you may consider either Enhanced Shaders ENB: www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/49882/? or Dynamo ENB: www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53521/? Both are solid, and suggest checking out the pictures and video samples or giving each a try to see which is for you. ENB really changes a lot graphically, and can make games look far better than vanilla. If you can get them to run on your system (should be fine) they can really crank up how much an old game utilizes. If the effects seem too intense for your liking, you may consider Gopher's Dynavision www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/51577/? Dynavision does not do everything that a good ENB does, but it does add Dynamic depth of field into the game which improves the visuals of things like New Vegas/Skyrim/Fallout 4 a lot. But then the next important question I have for you is...will we see a graphically modded Morrowind playthrough? ;D Thanks so much for doing this series, you really know how to rekindle my love for things. =)
+Tantrika X ENBs make the game look like crap, lol. Much rather have antialiasing and ansiotropic filtering cranked to max, than have it turned off and make the game look terrible.
+iTunsiscool26 Honestly, shading is much more valuable. If he is able to run the enb at a high resolution (which does have antialiasing btw, just its own instead of the game), then it will honestly look so much better. In exterior settings your talking fine shadows on exterior objects, so that outdoors actually look outdoors. Inside you can see things like ambient occlusion at work, where you have both light sources and reflected light sources affecting how things look. Makes the difference between harsh and soft light. That being said, as cool as individual shots of dynamo enb are, it kinda suck for the game overall, and makes the game look too different. Also, enbs are difficult to set up. Moreover, they might run his fancy rig into the ground.
+Tantrika X While the high resolution textures look better up close, they make the whole screen look more "busy," in quite a bad way. ENBs, or just dynavision tend to do a lot to offset this issue. Also, godrays.
Veris Meris I know that it gives its own antialiasing, it's just very little. And from what I've seen, it doesn't affect the outside at all. Especially near Freeside where the ground has tons of cracks, it doesn't affect those at all. Sure, the sky looks great but the floor looks like shit. Let alone is the draw distance terrible, especially on Dynamo. Only way is to turn it off. Let alone is MATN even going to download a ENB to begin with. I mean, who knows? But he wanted non-intrusive mods, something that's there but isn't bluntly standing out like a sore thumb, such as a ENB. Download Nevada Skies or hell, Fellout, not a ENB.
Yeah I can't recommend dynamo. Draw distance is a factor of his computer power though, and the a-aliasing may not be much, but he's already playing at 1080p, I doubt things would look like shit. I wouldn't recommend an enb except that he's playing around with hgih res textures from multiple sources and they are gonna clash. Antisopteric-Filtering set to max plus dynamic range (simulated eye focus for other readers) from an enb will prevent a lot of this. And drop his framerate below 30...
Justin Eady no my friend just no.. other is open world fps rpg other is open world fps game with rpg elements. dialogue doesn't matter shit on fo4 compared to nv you should know that. Best fallout is 2 but that game isn't for everyone.
@@LAZYB00GiE yeah, i tried to get into the isometric fallouts.. maybe after a couple hundred hours of new vegas it is worth another try? this is definitely my favourite "bethesda" game. this includes all of wolfenstein as well as oblivion and skyrim(in which i have created 7 or 8 different chars and roleplayed all of them) but new vegas is just something different.
Also possibly the mod "Grooveatron" I believe it's spelled like that? Basically all that does is allow you to pick up, and move any NPC in the game. As well as other silly little things with them. This is really useful for moving annoying companions who just won't get out of the doorway.
+Frisbie147 NV Hardcore (especially with PN) definitely makes the Capitol Wasteland more interesting. In New Vegas there's a lots of fresh food and meat around, but in DC almost all of the food and water is irradiated.
Keleigh Hardie well you can do it without cannibal, but the set up of water and food per day is very high the way i have it set up, and without fast travel its not worth it to go to towns to buy food
A little tip, about the Powder Gangers, and "Ghost Town Gunfight": If you, yourself, never kill any of them, there is less (i.e. Shunned) reputation loss ( I go ahead and slip a stick of dynamite in Joe Cobbs back pocket, while hidden, and, if you do it right, no one notices...). A good trick is to run around during the fight, with some weak melee weapon, like a straight-razor, and just wound them, until the town-folk finish them off...NMC's makes land-mines practically invisible, even with the small pack, call it a raised level of difficulty. And powder charges have always been kinda weak. Them Powder Ganger outfits do come in handy later, if you want easy access to the correctional facility, and making sure none of the more violent ones ever attack you, a bit North of the NCRCF, towards Sloan..they are a bit twitchy, and aggro sometimes, and will screw up your rep, if you kill them later on.
hmmm...I'll replay it on my old save, see what pans out, I had no rep-loss after that, that I recall, if I remember right, and I ran around in the middle of the fight, knifing them all, without killing any of them. Of course, Joe Cobb was already dead at that point...it may only be if he sees you there, during the fight, that that will happen, and, if he's already dead, beforehand, he can't see you...dead men tell no tales, and all that...I'll check, because it may not be "always", as you put it... :)
***** Ok, I checked my save, it came up clean...no rep loss, and I was idolized. Then I tried it from an earlier save, and ended up shunned, so, maybe it was a fluke, because I've used that earlier save, and tried it several times, again, and got shunned every time. I may have fast-traveled out, before anyone took a shot, and walked back a few days later...It may be as simple as not being in the same cell when the fight begins, or, I may have never talked to Joe Cobb, before I blew his ass to smithereens...something I did, that I forgot (I'm old, I do that...), still testing, give me some time here (been having hardware/sound issues the last few hours, my audio system is old, and the plug is being finicky about letting me even have sound...and needs replaced...probably...which means I need to buy a whole new audio setup, or, I need the jack itself repaired/replaced...or, even better, both...yay...), if an update came along, and changed that, then yeah, I suppose you will always get shunned, forget I said that, I did make that save a few years back, and things have changed/updated since then, a few times...but still, there's no reason to get vilified, because they do have a trader you can fleece, and quests, etc...like I said, I'm still trying to duplicate it, because now it's making me look like I didn't do it, when I still have a save that shows I actually did it...which strikes me as really weird...I'll edit it to say "less" for now, until I figure it out...
Hey I need some help. Ive started watching Jon recently but I have no clue about the new Vegas and it seems interesting but he’s not really doing this run for the story and I can’t watch another play through. At this point it would feel like cheating on a spouse.
the trick you pulled with the box of explosives can also be done inside the Silver Rush once you get into New Vegas. pick up a gun, carry it to a room in the back where you are hidden and they will never know.

I wonder why it sometimes gets rid of the DR or DT counter in the JSawyer mod. I've had the problem too.

Many A True Nerd Ah. Wonder what causes it...

Jon, there is a second cowboy repeater in the Sheriff's house. It is hidden underneath the reloading bench.
Hey Jon, another "Cooking with MATN" video this year? I love those videos.
Jon, I feel like I need popcorn each time I watch one of these.
You should consider trying the New Vegas: Dust mod for a series eventually, would be interesting to see how you tackle that
He's the Messiah!
How did you call it, give us your foresight (also thank you for reminding me I need to watch that still)
14:40 I think that's the first time I've seen Jon die in a fallout game, almost forgot what it was like
Jon, if texture mods don't come with a esp or esm file, then they DON'T add anything new to the game.
Is there a version without the sprint addition that only changes the eyewear aesthetics as you've said? I might mod it in.
***** Yeah, you can turn off just about any feature you want. Including sprinting. You just have to configure it in the New Vegas Mod Manager.
GravelsNotAFood Awesome, thanks.
"Finish him off manually" hurr hurr
WO! The completely off iron sight on the Cowboy Repeater got fixed! It's bloody impossible to hit stuff with it from a distance in the vanilla game if you have true iron sights on.
"the mailbox's are sexy" - Jon 2k16
Just realised how the reflections change with your movement, so good
I always thought that Hardcore mode should've had it such that reloading gets rid of unused ammo in the clip (perhaps dropped - with remaining rounds in brackets).
Mind I do try suggesting turning down the brightness? I tried it with my FNV and it look 10 times more beautiful and realistic.
Also try the mod Fellout or something similar.
Turn deathclaws into Randy Savage please. Most immersive and subtle mod ever.
I see, very immersive
Love the series thanks for the hours of entertainment!
would you consider any quest mods like new vegas bounties 1,2 and 3
50:28, missed some possibly very valuable Rad-X, though admittedly I'm not aware of how it might work with the Sawyer Survival mod. And I'm sure plenty of others will spam you with similar comments. Still, well done and very enjoyable, thank you Jon!
ManyATrueNerd if you really want the full Director's Cut Version of New Vegas, you need the New Vegas Uncut Series.
New Vegas Uncut 1: Rotface to Riches
New Vegas Uncut 2: A Koch and Bohr Story
New Vegas Uncut 3: A Van Graff Scorned
New Vegas Uncut 4: A Thorny Situation
New Vegas Uncut 5: A Wilder Wasteland
New Vegas Uncut 6: If It Wasn't For Betsy
New Vegas Uncut 7: Pacer's Gambit
New Vegas Uncut 8: Welcome to Fabulous New Vegas
New Vegas Uncut: Outside Bets
Each add a bit of cut content from NV that JeSawyer didn't restore, as JeSawyer was mostly a gameplay balance mod, not a
full restoration mod.
New Vegas Bounties
New Vegas Bounties II
New Vegas Bounties III
The Better Angels
and the spinoffs
The Inheritance
King of the Ring
and for Evil Jon, New Vegas Killer
All these mods are linked together by the first mod, so that the storyline flows properly.
I just went back and watched ep 1 of NV no kill and man you are so much more confident and comfortable.
jon, you're talking about missing the cowboy repeater in the sheriff's house - I don't think I've ever been in the sheriff's house. Played through NV about a dozen times.
Dame you every time i finally pull my self from fallout, your vid goes up and afterwards i am sucked back in to fallout...
Just a convenience thing, the Weapon Mod Menu makes it so you can remove mods from weapons and put them on others.
You should try out the E.V.E mod, if you really like how that plasma pistol looks, pretty much overhauls the entire energy weapon supply, making them look glorious
Jon have you ever considered doing a unarmed only walk-through?
For food you can take any planted food even if marked in red and you don't lose karma and no one goes hostile toward you... That is, unless J Sawyer changed that. That makes good springs a super good place to get all your survival needs. There's food in several gardens there.
Try out mod called "Lootable Cars" it let you loot cars xD
I stumbled upon this channel looking up fallout 3 cuz I was thinking about replaying it.. I’ve only ever played and beat it once and was thinking about going for all the achievements.. I 100% fallout new Vegas and was thinking about 100% fallout 3.. anyway been hooked on this channel ever since
Jon please consider using New Vegas Bounties!
And to add to my inability to tell the difference between videos, I kept thinking that you needed to use the mattresses to save...
Thanks for the video!
Jon, if you are feeling ambitious in terms of increasing the quality of your visuals you may consider either
Enhanced Shaders ENB: www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/49882/?
or
Dynamo ENB: www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53521/?
Both are solid, and suggest checking out the pictures and video samples or giving each a try to see which is for you.
ENB really changes a lot graphically, and can make games look far better than vanilla. If you can get them to run on your system (should be fine) they can really crank up how much an old game utilizes.
If the effects seem too intense for your liking, you may consider Gopher's Dynavision
www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/51577/?
Dynavision does not do everything that a good ENB does, but it does add Dynamic depth of field into the game which improves the visuals of things like New Vegas/Skyrim/Fallout 4 a lot.
But then the next important question I have for you is...will we see a graphically modded Morrowind playthrough? ;D
Thanks so much for doing this series, you really know how to rekindle my love for things.
Love this series! Keep up the good work Jon!
It's a good thing you aren't playing this under "You only live once" rules or it would have been a short game. ;-)
Jon may I suggest the Wasteland flora overhaul mod and new Vegas bounties?
Finished fallout4 with my ps4 months ago, and went back for nv with my beat up ps3, have to say nv is much more fun than fallout4 imo
K Dennis To me, they are pretty much the same
Justin Eady no my friend just no.. other is open world fps rpg other is open world fps game with rpg elements. dialogue doesn't matter shit on fo4 compared to nv you should know that.
That actually sounds usefull.
(A usefull mod? Whatever shall we do?!)
I know you said nothing very large but A Tale Of Two Wastelands in this series would be awesome
I'm playing fallout ttw with project Nevada, the survival mode is brutal
+Frisbie147 NV Hardcore (especially with PN) definitely makes the Capitol Wasteland more interesting. In New Vegas there's a lots of fresh food and meat around, but in DC almost all of the food and water is irradiated.
That one's hard for me. I can RP a selfish prick because I kind of am one, but straight out evil is often beyond me.
Keleigh Hardie
well you can do it without cannibal, but the set up of water and food per day is very high the way i have it set up, and without fast travel its not worth it to go to towns to buy food
Frisbie147 Sounds like you play like I do. I've got the needs cranked up in PN and fast travel turned off. RL-3 just carries extra food and water.
Thank you for hearing our cry!
jon how about new bison steve hotel
*****
Ok, I checked my save, it came up clean...no rep loss, and I was idolized.
Jon could you do a legion run on this Survival Mode
1: It's Spelt Jon ( I don't know why)
2: I also want him to do a legion play through
+Dragonlord 456 i guess his full name is JONathan. Like Jon Hamm for example.
+Dragonlord 456
1: I think he, at some point, implied his full first name is Jonathan, and that's why he spells it without a "h".
+Logical Phallusy I think he did it on yolo
Hey I need some help. Ive started watching Jon recently but I have no clue about the new Vegas and it seems interesting but he’s not really doing this run for the story and I can’t watch another play through. At this point it would feel like cheating on a spouse.
I'm definitely enjoying this series and will definitely install this later, so thank you
Loool, "Wait! First, we must admire this mattress!" xD
23:33 There's mod that makes the loot menu like the one in Fallout 4. It's called "Fallout 4 Quickloot for New Vegas"
The mailboxes ARE sexy
the trick you pulled with the box of explosives can also be done inside the Silver Rush once you get into New Vegas. pick up a gun, carry it to a room in the back where you are hidden and they will never know.
use fallout new vegas unofficial patch it fixes lot of bugs that obsidian couldn't or didn't fix
Jon, for a mod I suggest is that you get Dynavision. It's a mod that adds dynamic depth of field
Have you ever considered doing a playthrough of Fallout 1 or 2 for the channel?
Sadly, they were removed from Grand Old Games. I have no idea if it's possible to get them anymore.
+Bazingaman 117 There on steam and still work fine for me
+Bazingaman 117 Removed? If you mean gog.com, they are still available.
Refloni just pirate them
You should get this mod "Cowboy Repeater without peep sight"
