I was a software engineer in my last position, and I am pretty frugal so I have a fair bit of money saved up. I'm actively looking for a job so I don't intend on doing this forever. Additionally, since I was part of layoffs, I get unemployment money each week from the state of Washington. It won't last forever but it's a big help until I can land a new position. As for what I eat? I'm kinda doing a paleo thing. Trying to lose weight but maintain energy for martial arts. I don't /think/ that's what your question was, but cooking your own food is far less expensive than eating out a lot
@@markbacon78 Yeah, I was curious where does the money come from, with the current cost of electricity [kind of needed to run a decent PC for game dev], food, rents etc. with my feed being full of people being like "I quit / got fired so now I'm developping a game", since making a game doesn't pay much WHILE it's being developped, and a man has got to eat! :p
Super glad you enjoy! I like to show the "reality" behind my learning but hard to make it engaging sometimes haha. Keep up the journey and welcome to the game dev world!
Hello, man. I’m literally obsessed with glasses you used to wear before current ones (like a year ago). They are rectangular shape. Could you tell me where can I get them what kind they are and how you chose them? And are they for improving your eyesight?
Can you link a video with them? And tag me in the response so I get notified about it. There are three you could be talking about (the black frames, blue frames, or red frames). I remember the black frames were Oakley, I don't remember the blue frames, but I still have the red frames back home (I won't be back until Aug 6th but I'll do my best to look at them if those are the ones). As for the latter part- any time I've chosen glasses I just go into a store for my eye appointment and if I feel like I need new glasses I pick a pair I like at the time. They are prescription (I am near-sighted) so they are necessary for my eyesight at long distances.
@@markbacon78 thanks for the response! I really appreciate it. ua-cam.com/video/7eeQmQPUOvg/v-deo.html that's the video with glasses I'm talking about P.S I apologize, it was 3 years ago, not a year ago.)
I wrote a similar system for a server I wrote for a game. OpCode first followed by the binary data and process on the other side depending on the OpCode. I used TCP for my game though.
I figure you're talking about the [0 99 123] system- good to hear I'm not completely wrong at least! I was tempted to use TCP since I don't think the speed of UDP is going to be totally necessary for my use case, but since UDP is kind of the standard I figured I may as well learn its pain points early on
@@markbacon78 For your game UDP will be the better choice. TCP is for things that you need to make it through every time so it can actually be quite slow since it will resend entire packets. UDP just sends and doesn't care whether it arrives or not. For things like movement it doesn't really matter if you're losing a few packets because you're correcting for that client side. I haven't done much with UDP so I don't know whether you will come across issues like missed inputs or anything.
Yes I am! Albeit pretty slowly, but been keeping up with reviews for grammar and vocab. Reading some small and simple things. Might make an update in the future but right now it doesn't feel like I have anything all that substantial. Thanks for dropping by another vid!
The gimmick of the channel should be changing the hoodie color base on current mood 🎉
This is a genius idea. Infinite possibilities now...
What do you guys eat, and how do you pay your rent etc. while "making a game because I am unemployed"?

dude im making my multiplayer game for 5 years and im still unemployed but its fucking amazing
I respect that. I don't like the lack of security with not having a job rn lol but maybe one day that'll change.
Much luck working on the game!
As a beginner game dev myself these more down to earth dev logs that just show grind are great! Keep up the good work!

There is not much content on godot multiplayer yet, good stuff!
Mayhaps I can fill the niche! Thanks for dropping by

It's been a long long while since I've seen a video of yours, glad to hear from you again. Are you still learning Japanese btw?
