@@CareerTalk I'm 39 and working as FE developer but I'm sick of this corporate culture where I have to come out of project every 3 months to attend internal/client round of interview to get into another Project. I see managing teams as technical/program manage is the only scope to escape these interviews but unless some manager give a promotion to you to become a sub-group manager it's not possible. Please share your though on this, whether it's good to stay in service company or product company. And how you are generating second streams of income now? And also create a video about savings, investments and other information (we can find so many video but I would like to see a video from a technical perspective ) who works in IT
Days have changed, during 2005-14, i have seen genuinely good guys in technology becoming complacent with just 5 years technical background to become a program manager, delivery manager etc. They said they have learnt enough of technology and now would suggest USA, Japan, Europe what the technology would look like in next 50 years. Cut to 2023, now guys with 20 years experience need to be billable in customer projects or they get kicked out. No more posing as guru or managing 4000 freshers would help. Another disaster for the technical guys were to get too much obsessed with domain knowledge, like getting Insurance domain, Retail domain certification deviating from core technology. The moment insurance specialist get shifted to say Burger King project, the entire domain knowledge goes to drain

5th mistake. After 40s we need to take the spiritual path. We are here for max 20 to 40 more years. Realise this fact. Take care of your health. We need to realise that we will not achieve much in remaining time. And even if we achieve death is going to take away everything. So be thankful for coming this far in life with such a good intelligence that you produced and watched this video. Which means you can realise what went wrong even when you never planned for it. Use 2nd order thinking and extrapolate what could happen in next 10 or 20 years. Excellent advice to all fellow travellers in life. Thank you.
So true..while 30s are time for self growth.after 40 should be considered to think on contributing to nature and spirituality rather than dwelling on materialistic things
Mistakes in 30s and 40s 1. Not creating a separate income stream 2. Not finding a mentor or a accountability partner 3. Not considering deligate/outsource/automate work 4. Failure to take action when needed
Nice points. Also the challenge part is that to concentrate on second income and parallelly manage your job , when we don't have much time and tired with house and office work.
Yes, it is a challenge we understand that, so one needs to take small baby steps in that direction. Key is to have focus and make small efforts for long term.
Not everyone is financial savvy in doing the right investments or have the entrepreneurial skills to start generating a second income, or even if they do all might not succeed. With my 16 years of experience, even im a bit confused. I know I'm not smart, but personally I feel it is good to invest in building your skills and expertise and not mention focusing on your health care, both are really important to have a sustainable future in your life. After all, if you have good health and a learning aptitude it should help you to survive even in your b older years
Before delegating , isn't it better to learn yourself? That's the first thought which comes to mind when deciding to delegate (the risk of under/over estimation)
True I turned 30 last week Started Amazon business at 29 The Amount I earn from my job, I am Currently earning another 80% from my Amazon business. And planning to expand more
Selling Baby essentials and pet items, such as toys, etc. Buying from Alibaba china in $ 4 to $6 And selling North American market for $25 or $30 per item
Very true, at present (46) am in a job out of my core skill area (thanks to covid19), very basic - creating tickets and doing it just to survive economically. Thus two things are important a good mentor/boss at a young age and a partner- never had.
Thank you, thank you krishna rao from bringing this out. I think 80s born can rekate to this position. I'm into same position of project management/PM role
When you're young, it's a wise choice to save as much money as possible. Additionally, it's worth considering avenues for secondary income. In my personal opinion, not everyone can become a CEO or manager, so there's no need to be concerned about others. Instead, stay focused on your job and your work. I'm currently 44 years old and in a technical lead role at my company. While I can't control the longevity of my career, I believe I'm doing a good job. The period between 40 and 50 is a critical stage in life, and it's essential to think about how you'll spend your life after 50. In my case, I'm planning to move to my village. I purchased agricultural land and built a small house without taking any home loans. For the past three years, my family has been in the village, where we've been able to reduce our expenses significantly. Now, I'm relocating to Chennai for my kid's education.
The point number 1: Second income stream is the thing I want tell something about. You can take that as secondary interest other than job. For example I was facing some ups and downs in 2009 year. I had brought "Vedic Mathematics" book as a side interest. I did not pay much attention to that at that time. Now that in 2023 after layoff I feel I should have paid some interest to Vedic Maths so that by now I could have at least taught some people. Anyways I have taken interest now.
On a side note, i personally dont think these are mistakes,,..u enjoyed doing all these in ur own way; and thats what matters the most.. and that defines one's personality and one's happiness..in other words, sometimes more productivity or more time saving does not mean more happiness😀its just doing things in ur own way;;;;but thank you for sharing sir..its always great to hear to ur experiences🙂
