Proudly flying the neon flag of 1980s-era Sunset Strip glam metal with a healthy dose of satirical swagger, there is truly no band quite like Steel Panther.
As the band continues to conquer stages around the world with their explosive live shows, one of the many reasons for the fireworks is the expert fretwork of their guitarist Satchel.
It’s impossible to miss Satchel due to his flowing hair, fluorescent spandex, ripping riffs, soaring solos and trademark Charvel Signature Pro-Mod DK22 with tiger stripes across the body. Previously, you’ve seen him play these guitars in Neon Yellow, Neon Green and even Satin Purple, and now we have the new Satchel Signature Pro-Mod DK22 HH FR M in Satin White.
From its eye-catching Satin White Bengal tiger-striped finish to the versatile Fishman Fluence Classic humbucking pickups, this guitar is ready to carry the metal torch.

This may be the most 'out of character' interview for Russ in a long time. Dude is such a great player..
He’s like super nice in person when he’s not being satchel. I had the pleasure to take to him while wearing normal clothes. It was cool experience!
He does seem cool
There's a great podcast interview with him where he starts in character but he get's so passionate talking music and guitar that he just becomes Russ, and it's actually quite charming. ua-cam.com/video/tvrgW8bho0k/v-deo.html
Exactly what I was thinking. I was actually shocked when he talked about them starting as a cover band.
He's totally out of character in this interview.

Wow, nice to see Satchel not over exaggerating his answers, this is the most serious answers he has ever given, nice to see the character on a more serious note without losing its essence.
Yeah the constant sarcasm was annoying as fuck.
He’s finally getting sick of clowning around
@@GuitarGangsterArmi nah he ain't. This is an ad for charvel, so he had to be serious.
I've missed Satchel
He's funnier than most comedians
Yeah, without needing a slap
@@nafis6668 dead meme. Everyone’s over that now
@@zakk2205 what meme?
Agreed!!!….this dude just makes me laugh!!!
@@zakk2205 no
Satchel is one of the greatest guitarists out there right now and yes, he is a living legend
I have a pussy melter pedal signed by him and michael starr
I would agree doesn’t get the credit he deserves
Huh
Cuz his music is boring
Good guitar player but "one of the greatest"? Not even close.
"Style comes first over substance, let's face it." Classic Satchel. Awesome playing, regardless.
This guy is super overlooked when it comes to his playing abilities. The man can literally play anything.
You think satchel could play jason becker shit?
@@masterdingus7074 yes
But can he play guthrie govan?
None More Overlooked…
@@allstopblue5717 I don't believe you
Charvel's definitely kick ass - apparently every Satchel Signature comes with a bit of his DNA, but it wipes off fairly easily if you're not into that sort of thing …
🤣
That’s good to know 😳
Dude ends up jamming with Halford after Preist was his first concert. That's some badass shit there.
I have been watching this guy for many years , This guy has some real deal accuracy \m/
Nice to see “RUSS” speak and not his alter ego. Some of us actually remember how good he was as himself in Fight. Congrats on the new axe buddy 🤘🏻💥
I didn't realize until Russ just mentioned it now that he saw Judas Preist at the very first live show he ever saw.And then he goes on to play with Rob Halford in Fight! How cool is that?
@@Slicklickz pretty cool.
1:40 He goes into character.
Some of the freshest metal lea licks you'll hear anywhere. Incredible melodic note choice and honestly just one of the most exciting guitarists to listen to. Comedic chops, the looks, very intelligent musically and intellectually despite the masquerade. Slam dunk rock and roll Hall of Famer. Stone cold living legend!
A class musician, always acting his character. He's a legend.
“This is one of the animals that when you see it from the back row you know it’s a god damn tiger”
It's his modesty that I really admire
Steel Panther have done such an incredible job of staying in character for so long. There's very very few videos of them breaking. Enjoyed this clip!! Satch is the man
I remember meeting Russ ans Ralph in Vegas, and they where absolute riots and had more talent in there pinky toes than all the yoohoos today who call themselves musicians. They put on one of the best shows Ive seen since the 80's Hair Metal days in Hollywierd
The man.
The myth.
The legend...
man, i love Satchel's tone, it's so classic
1:28 the face he makes cracks me up. Had an coworker many years ago who would make that same face when thought something was gold.
This was so refreshing to see. He's got such a good touch on the guitar. And it was nice not to have overly goofy answers every 10 seconds
"if you don't have a good song, then you can't play....bitching solos" Perfect statement...more shreders should have that attitude.
"If you're in the back row, and you see this, you know it's a goddamn tiger."
"Well, I mean, this looks a little bit like a zebra right now, but... It does look like a tiger up close." Hahah legendary
Awesome band, awesome guitarist, and awesome guitar 🎸🔥
Satchel is a riot! Bet he has a amp that goes all the way to 11!
My hat's off to you sir, you're truly a phenomenal guitarist, first concert 1985 motley Crue and autograph at freedom Hall Tennessee, thank you all for keeping it alive and kicking ass while doing it. 😎
Love this guy!! Amazing presence on stage and great playing!! And his sense of humor😅👍
Love this version of his signature guitar
I remember seeing their cover band " Metal Skool" at the Key Club(rip) back in the early 2000's. They put on a great show then and still do now.
My man's keeping 80s Shredding alive, he shopuld be considered a legend.
luv this guy, where has he been..I'd listen to him over most everyone else. And love his new sig. Charvel model..
Great to see a serious interview with him for once! He's arguably one of the best players around, would be cool to see more like this!
I've seen and touch the green version before. Super neat all around. That decked floyd will able you to tune fast like on fixed bridge . Came back to pitch dead on. 👌
Russ P was ripping it up with the band 'Fight" in the early 90's!
Whoa, that was a Russ Parish interview. Never thought we’d get one of those.
He's the fucking man. Happy to have met the guy.
I love Charvel guitars. Thank you Marc Diglio for rockin that red 81’ charvel and the solo to “inside out” now im way over budget in guitar gear LOL. It doesnt matter that I have a gorgeous red 86’ model 2 charvel when I still cant play any riffs halfway decent after a year of working really really hard to be a good player
We need a pink and black version
I believer there is, a green and a yellow as well!
This Charvel looks great! I’ve been a fan of Charvel/Jackson guitars for a long time. The white tiger design is awesome! I’ve been wanting to get a fishman pickup as well, they sound amazing!
That was high quality entertainment. Thanks, Satchel! \m/
Satchel is seriously amazing and underlooked as a guitar player.
Such an impressive player!!!!
Sweet lookin guitar. Definitely interested in trying one 🙂
My dad used to play disco gigs with Russ and Ralph in LA back in the 90s, they've remained close friends through the years and being able to see them play now and hang with them is unreal. They're all class guys who rip every single night.
What a career thesr guys had. Satchel looks young considrring they are in their 60s/70s
Satchel is 51. Not to detract from the point though, which in general is spot on with the gist of it.
Lmao. They aren’t that old!
@@the_minimalistic_adventure they're all in their 50's except Lexxi
@Solange Oh really? Everything i see on google says he was 39 as of 2020
I bought the purple version last year. I love this guitar!! It really does play like butter. Go play one.
Great player and very funny. Needs his own sitcom. We needs his own sitcom.
Amazing! Sounds great!
Friggen great tone....very cool stuff! 😎
Awesome! That tune he was playing reminds me of Shrapnel Records around 1987ish. Russ fits right in with Paul Gilbert and the rest.
Bought mine a few months back 🤘
a seriously incredible player
This is a strangely appealing guitar. All I want is 22 frets, 6 strings & 9 lives (like the rare white tiger they obtained to make this instrument look so great.)
I am still baffled by the fact that strat-style guitars are still made with that thick piece of square box at the neck joint!
It should have been standard practice to have All Access Neck Joint by now!
blame old-heads and lack of ingenuity
@@Audioslayer Stupid and inaccurate answer, junior.
Blame Canada.
It’s a known quantity to old shredders. Agree the carved heel is way better, but it takes some getting use to since you go by feel. The worse has to be a Les Paul Custom. The heel is a square mountain there. I overcome it by flattening my hand 12+ frets, but it’s no way to play through a whole gig.
@@edwardmonsariste4050 Agree, those have to be the worse! The best access guitars must be the ones with a neck-through body.
It would be really cool to see one of those in a red finish
Now we definitely need a solo album from Satchel
It's nuts that this guy is 51 years old and looks like he's 25 at most.
Great playing Satch 🎸
Were you in the Heavy Metal Parking-Lot DVD?
This guy is absolutely incredible.
Stunningly accurate
Satchel is the man! Great axe! 🤘
the second voice on fishmans is amazing
Reminds me of the ESP George Lynch Tiger
Satchel, would have been a very good choice to fulfill Tipton's role within priest. If he wasn't committed within his own band, he, along side the Faulkner would enivitably sound. Satchel is very consistent, also highly thorough, which practice is obliviously important to satchel.
I love Satchel!
Amazing!
lookin foward to the new album 🤘🤘
When is it dropping?
@@Stevenirons we don't know yet. satchel had already 9 songs finished at the beginning of last year and michael starr made some posts recently on instagram with him and jason leckberg in the studio recording his voice for the new album. the only thing i know so far is that one song is about people who look hot on their online profiles but look horrible in real life (also something michael starr said in an interview). if i had to guess, i would say the new album will be released in august or september this year but DEFINATELY this year!
@@essassasassaass thanks for the update. I would really like to see them live. They look like they have so much fun in concert
@@Stevenirons you're welcome. they are hilarious you should see them ;)
Wow crazy. I just got home from Guitar Center where I saw one of these. Looks killer, but @1499 I wasn't gonna touch it.
Thank you, GEORGE LYNCH!
Finally! A white one. Awesome!
This guy has the greatest real life superhero jawline I have ever seen
I remember these guys playing at our fraternity for one of our 80's parties and it was wild. They were awesome and it was a hell of a fun time.
Then the next week wiz khalifa played at another fraternity down the street that we went to.
fun times.
I think I like the purple color more. I always wonder if he ever uses the neck pickup, if so, its gotta be rarely.
finally!!!! a decent looking model from this guy!!
Nice Charvel! Definitely want it. Just because.....well it's Metal.
Awesome guitarist
"Steve Vai always had a sense of humor and you could hear it in the way he played guitar"
Kickass!
Satchel is hands down the best thing to ever happen to Fender and Charvel! \,,/ Satchel \,,/
Someday i’m gonna have a charvel pro 🤘
Great guitar player💥
Freakin awesome 🤘🏿
Yooo broooo let the metal flow
SteeLe Panther ROCKS
You can totally hear Steve Vai's influence on this guy. And EVH too.
I guess I will have to buy one of these when they are avaiable..if not now..i will have to look but yeah its an awesome guitar !
I need one. Period.
He really is insanely good.
Russ is such a gifted player, and a true showman, it only makes sense that shred gods play the best guitars in the universe Charvel and steel panther go together like Dr Rockzo and C-C-C-C-ocaine
I am super curious about why Russ and Charvel decided to not use an AANJ type neck joint. Charvel already has that feature available. Does Russ prefer old school blocky neck joints for some reason.
I think it’s so it has the 80’s look.
i prefer the block neck joint. i have an RG550 for that reason
@@iLLuzion1st My RG550 has amazing sustain, it's the only Ibanez in my collection that does. Always wondered if if has to do with the block joint.
@@sublyme2157 those guitars are so underrated, and I have no idea why. I got a used one in mint condition for 700. And that's half the price of a made in china Jackson. And it plays like a dream. Only thing on mine is it has a smidge of fret sprout here and there, but nothing i cant file myself. Someday ima just wear the frets out and put in SS frets. Should b a while tho haha
I love Satchel.
Ugggggggg wish they would do excatully same specs but with gloss black/white body with gold hardware. I can't come to terms to zebra print/tiger paint job but love everything else. Charvel has all these whacky new thing, I think a hss gold/white/black with Floyd rose would fly off the shelves at $1000
In the early days of UA-cam I remember seeing a video of Pink getting on stage and singing a Skid Row song with some hair metal cover band... I think it might've been Steel Panther before they became what they are now.
HELL YES!
That's quite the serious machine.
Sweet guitar, love the non-recessed Floyd! Classic.
His sig guitar costs the same as Warren DiMartinis. Pretty cool for him to know that. Kind of an honor
I always forget he was in Fight back in the day.
I wish they did this model in the DK24 line, I would’ve bought one in ever color
Gotta say satchel is an amazing guitarist he deserves a lot more credit. Lots of pro players that can shred like him but he plays so incredibly clean. He holds his notes for as long as possible what I mean by this is many players when they play fast they will hit the note just long enough to make note heard they don’t stay on that note to get as much out of it as they can. To make the math easy say ur playing 4 notes per second so you have .25 of a second to hold each note many guys won’t use that entire .25 of a second to produce the note they might only used half of that time producing the note. Hopefully this is making sense I’m not the greatest at explaining things. I definitely notice Kirk Hammett is guilty of this some times.
yeah .. the Floyd is a special kinda nostalgia.
Actually looks great
