Just tried your kapoon today. I’d have to say it’s full of flavor. We didn’t have to add anything extra just the lime. I added a little bit of sugar since I like mine sweeter. Thanks for your recipe. I’m definitely making this again.😍
Thank you soo much for your recipe!! I made it for my siblings just now and they love it!! Hope my parents will also like it. Thank you soo much! Looking forward to more recipes! ❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing your Kapoon recipe. Where do you buy your pork meats like pork trotters? Can one easily get those pork meats at the Hmong Market Town Place or an Asian Food Supermarket?
So do you use both the pork feet and the ground pork? Just curious how much meat you use since your list said chicken or choice of meat. But when you made the paste you also added ground pork. Also, which bamboos do you typically use then? Thanks!
Yes I use both pork feet (1pk / 1lb) and ground pork. I leave the pork feet in the broth but I stir fry the ground pork with the herbs and curry paste. I think I used 2 -3 lbs of ground pork in the video but I would prefer 1-2lb (if you don't want a lot of meat) . when I'm making it with chicken I use a whole chicken or 4 quarter legs. Lol For the bamboo shoots I use the Dragon Fly Brand "Tip Bamboo Shoots" ( big round ones). sometimes they're in a plastic bag at the asian store. I hope this helped. Let me know if you have any more questions. :)
What size pot did you use? Is it a 32 quart pot? It looks like it's filled 2/3rds full. Also, that looks like 4-5 lbs of pork feet you used to make the broth, correct?
Yes it’s a size 32 I fill it half way because the coconut might overflow the pot. And I add more water to fill to the top after the coconut. Flavor will still be there. For the pork feet, i did use for the broth. I would do at least 2 lbs just depends on how much feet you want. Lol. If you want to use chicken. One whole chicken would be enough.
For those that cannot tolerate spice like the 2 cans of red curry- will 1 can taste as good?? My kids cannot do too much spice but love eating the noodles.
I didn't believe this at first but you don't have to wait for the water to boil before you put the noodles in. If you put the noodles in right away, it'll thoroughly be cooked when the water boils. I usually let it cook for another 2-3 minutes after boiling point.
Your written recipe shows 3 tbsp each of chicken broth powder and salt...but you mentioned using teaspoons when demonstrating. It looks like you did use 3 tbsp of chicken powder, but maybe 3 tsp of salt? Also, you mentioned seasoning your ground pork with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder...I assume you season it with a tsp of salt to each pound of ground pork, which is the typical ratio for salt to protein? I guess the black pepper and garlic powder would be half that amount then?
Some what a lot but I think its worth making it with those ingredients, it has somewhat of a difference taste compare to the other kapoons. more flavor and heart warming I think. lol I haven't gone back to how I use to make it ever since this recipe.
The written recipe is flawed!!!!! The written recipe calls for 3 table spoons of broth powder and salt each. She uses tea spoons in the actual video . Op please fix it so others don’t mess up like we did and waste a day/money.

Sooo yummy. I'm making Kapoon this weekend and needed a refresher.
One of my favorite dishes!!! Yumm! I gotta try pork next too!
Pricilla Soto say what?!!!! Lol I didn't know that!! 😁
I’m planning to make this tomorrow I really wanted to ask what brand of shrimp paste did you use?
I used the Brand Pantai
Looks good. Thanks for sharing. Now I can make this for my family!
Thanks for watching !
I’ve made “Ka Poon” before but this looks Supremo!! Looks rich and filling. Could I use belacan (Indonesian shrimp paste)???
Thank you so much!!!! I've never heard of belacan before, lol but doesnt hurt to try might be a little saltier though.

I can't tolerate spicy either. If you get that brand of the red curry paste, the 2 cans won't do harm. Kids will be able to eat it.
Gonna have to try this recipe one day 😌
Awesome!!
Thanks!
Very different and looks so good! Definitely got to try !
Thank you!

Thanks for the tip! I may just do that going forwarding. I'm so use to waiting for the water to boil then putting in my noodles. LOL! :D
Yep, I never wait for the water to boil before cooking my noodles. My in laws thought I was weird. Lol
Looks delish do you have the chicken version ?
This looks delicious!! Ive never had straw mushrooms before but I love mushrooms!! 😋 Thanks for sharing!! 💕
Fitbusybee it's so good! My fav when I'm making this dish lol
Oyster sauce is new for me. I haven’t had that yet with my kapoon
Try it! It’s makes a good difference!
Oyster sauce gives it so much more flavor! I use it too!
Great video!
Thanks!
Did you use a whole jar of shrimp pastes?
That looks bomb
Artsy thanks! It's so good! 🤗

Wait.. you don’t double boil and rinse your pork feet? Just curious it doesn’t give you gritty taste? 🙂
Kayleen Nguyen no I don't boil it twice and it's not gritty. Are you suppose to boil it twice? Lol I usually just rinse and boil.
Dash of Liz lol lol no you don’t have to just curious how it would taste like without the double boil method.?
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!!
Thanks for sharing LAO food LAO cusine..
Is the soup spicy?
It's mild at best tbh
I want some !
Kapoon by far is the best noodle soup, I’ll eat everything except the quail eggs and the pig feet
❤️❤️❤️❤️
May I ask if you got veneers???
No, I didn;t get the real deal, this are just clip in veneers.
So much ingredients, how does it taste like compared to other kapoon recipe?
Some what a lot but I think its worth making it with those ingredients, it has somewhat of a difference taste compare to the other kapoons. more flavor and heart warming I think. lol I haven't gone back to how I use to make it ever since this recipe.
How much water? I need measurements

I wouldn't add the condiments. Some ppl cant handle all that sodium like me. I will be swollen overnight.
Hmm. I’ve never had oyster sauce & soy sauce in the khao poon broth.
Lynda Moua girl! It makes a big difference! Add more flavor to the broth 🤗
So.... How do you have such perfect
Teeth?? 🦷😁
What kind of shrimp paste did you use?
itsSUZIEbaby I use the shrimp paste with soya bean oil.
@@DashofLiz tysm! Can't wait to make this! 😊
@@itsSUZIEbaby Yah!! Let me know how it goes, and what you think! :D
How much of the shrimp paste?
u cut the lines into dimes not quarters lol
Lmao!!! You know what I meant then 🤣 thanks!
Omg who put oyster sauce in kaho poon 😆 🤣 😂 😹
U need bigger pot
looks delicious but damn thats a lot of meat
Thanks! LOL!
No offense, but Khao Poon is a Lao curry soup, not Hmong.
tshav ntuj kaj nrig none taken, it’s okay 👌 thanks for your input though hehe 🤗
Okuuurt, that’s why Ka poon is the Hmong version. 😴

Khao poon is a Lao Dish but made by Hmong. Like going to McDonald's and the cooks are Mexican. So, what is the big deal?
Thanks!
