Over the last few weeks, we have decided to slowly monetise our videos less and less, resulting in (fingers crossed) a whole lot less ads for you. We figured that if you want to get really, truly engrossed in this passage, you need as little distraction as possible. We feel by doing this, you can hopefully receive a more authentic look at what life is like out there, on the ocean. Saying that, if we continue on this journey of less and less ads, financially, it won't be sustainable, so we would be really grateful if you would consider heading to our Patreon and becoming part of the Tribe, if you can afford it. It will mean we can continue to produce these vids, with less of the 'stuff' in between. Thanks for being here, Becka and Zach www.patreon.com/teulutribe

Love you kids. So sorry the ranger wouldn't allow you to tour Cocos Island. Glad no harm came to anyone during your Marlin experience. Looking forward to seeing Teulu again. Safe travels. ❤
Talk about a win win. You got to do an unexpected adventure and he got a wonderful crew to have on board. You guys never fail to step up. The marlin was lucky you caught him, locals needing food would have harvested him real quick. Cocos Island looks marvelous, but I might have kept the banana bread for myself under the circumstances. A lot of ocean frolicking in this episode, and yes I'm jealous. Love you. Stay safe. ❤🙏
Fantastic film guys. Has to be one of the best yet. Three really chilled human beings just letting the world come to them. That Malin was unbelievable and when I saw the size of his majestic eye I was thinking who actually was catching who?
Great sail and outstanding striped marlin. You're not going to find many videos of sailors hand lining a 150lb marlin while underway. If this ever happens to you again, cutting the line is another option. Large fish have a better chance at surviving a fight the sooner their released. The hook will rust out no matter what metal its made of. One other consideration, if you use big bait expect to catch big fish so a smaller bait could have prevented catching a monster. Great job getting on camera, because if you did not, It's just another fish story.
I’ve been watching you from the beginning. It’s amazing to watch you both. You are experienced at sailing like I’m sure you never believed you would be. I wish I could convince my wife to buy a sail boat and do what you both did. Love your videos!
By the size of what I saw I would say somewhere between 150 to 200 lb and you caught it on a hand line that is absolutely amazing most outstanding I grew up in the Caribbean excellent job
You're right, Cocos is magical, both on land and in the water. I've been fortunate to have done two dive trips there (even got to play beach soccer against the rangers) and the diving can be pretty crazy (both the marine life and the weather). I've also seen the tiger shark that killed a diver in 2017 not too far from where you were moored so the rangers aren't kidding about the tigers.

Hello Teulu tribe sailing, trying to give you all a heads up make sure y'all looking at the weather. Might be an idea to consider exactly how big the hook is that you're dropping over the side, and what might get a hold of it..By marlin standards that was a youngster.. on the other hand, fresh dorado..nomnomnomnom...
Giggling/Laughing to start the video sets a very good vibe. so how do you warn another diver about a shark , when they arent looking? my first thought was a cricket clicker , but not sure how that would work underwater. Fair Winds 😎
Nice video again. Beautiful nature. The marlin seemed of juvenile size, considering the adult [wiki] "striped marlin has [...] an average length of 2.9 m (9.5 ft), a maximum length of 4.2 m (13.8 ft), and weight up to 220 kg (490 lb)." Top recorded speed would be 81 km/h (43.7 knots). I have seen large adults jump out of the water on board a sports fishing boat in an attempt to escape the fishing line it was on - the marlin was faster than the very fast fishing boat - and that frantically moving hulk of a fish was very dangerous for the human crew. These are "Least Concern", so when you wanted to eat one, that would have been the least concern ;). They taste like swordfish, but a bit more intense. You could have easily brought this one in, by holding its head/gills above water and it would have passed out after some time. Some fish have to keep moving as they rely on water moving along their gills that way, rather than actively pumping water through as fish version of breathing.
Wow I'm glad we didn't catch one 2.9m long. I have no idea what we would have done with that. We did consider landing it. However, it would have been far more fish than we could have stored/eaten between 3 people. Thanks for the tips 😉
Another great video - Cocos Island looked beautiful - Marlin was impressive - when you were hauling the Marlin, what was the sound like a ships horn we kept hearing ?

Might be an idea to consider exactly how big the hook is that you're dropping over the side, and what might get a hold of it..By marlin standards that was a youngster.. on the other hand, fresh dorado..nomnomnomnom...
Yeah that marlin was definitely not what we were wanting. Thanks for the tip!
Giggling/Laughing to start the video sets a very good vibe. so how do you warn another diver about a shark , when they arent looking? my first thought was a cricket clicker , but not sure how that would work underwater. Fair Winds 😎
Nice video again. Beautiful nature. The marlin seemed of juvenile size, considering the adult [wiki] "striped marlin has [...] an average length of 2.9 m (9.5 ft), a maximum length of 4.2 m (13.8 ft), and weight up to 220 kg (490 lb)."
Top recorded speed would be 81 km/h (43.7 knots).
Nice marlin!
Cool, interesting video! Thanks
Becka exactly sounds like Chess player Anna Cramling !! 🤣🤣 but how ? 90% similar !
Another great video - Cocos Island looked beautiful - Marlin was impressive - when you were hauling the Marlin, what was the sound like a ships horn we kept hearing ?
Cheers Mike, it was Becka swearing 🤫
Wow epic fish and on a hand line
