Thanks for hopping on board this week with us, you're becoming quite the crew by now! Feel free to head to the beach for a surf, or take a *LONG!!!!* shower. But in seriousness, thanks for the support. Let us know, what bought you here.
I wish sometimes I could be there to help with the upgrades. I spent 45 years building and repairing homes and I learned to sail at 13 years, so it is two loves with me. Thanks.
I remember all the hell you went through just getting this boat, seemed like you'd never get one, ANY of them! Great to see you still like the one you got. I mean, damn, that is a very rare thing. And this is your first time! What does "Teulu" actually mean, "the luck of the gods" or what? :D
I’m 73, with a 36’ Hunter in my driveway. It’s my dream to get her in the lake before I dry up and blow away. I have been drawn to your story, your drive and boundless determination to set and achieve your goals. You have the RARE natural ability to actually talk to & WITH us,as though we are there with you. Too many UA-camrs look very uncomfortable in front of the camera which makes US feel guilty for being the cause of said guilt: who needs that?! No matter what is going on in your lives, good or bad, happy or tragic, we KNOW the welcome mat is always out! THANKS for all of that!
You two are one of, if not the most, honest couple I’ve seen on UA-cam. To hear you speak of mistakes, wishes, money, lack of energy, and successes, is so satisfying. It makes all of us feel you understand the real world of sailing and don’t hide behind the camera, as if everything is wonderful. Thank you for being genuine, easy going, and no pretense. Enjoy your migration across the Pacific. 🐬 🎣🐠🐙⛵️
@diane_24 @TeluaTribe So true. In the 1980s I cruised for a year along the US East Coast and the Bahamas. Yes, there were highs and lows, mistakes and exhilarating moments. I am particularly interested in seeing in these videos the advances in technology since then -- GPS instead of sextant and chronometer, weather by internet, ample power from a plethora of solar panels, lithium batteries. But the basics of sailing and anchoring in out-of-the-way anchorages stays the same. Watching these videos make me wish I had cruised longer and farther. Not only have Zach and Becka developed impressive sailing skills, but they have the ability to make professional level videos that are fun to watch. And which help to finance their cruising lifestyle.
I found this channel by accident. I have watched other sailing channels. Too many to remember. I’ve been a sailor for 30 years but am in dry dock for a few years now and itching to get out there again. I will try to say how moving it is to see you bond with your girl. You have salt water in your veins! That you even have the awareness that you can have such an experiences so visceral with a vessel is inspiring and beautiful. I love that you noticed the other life underneath you and understood it was from the upwelling of the global conveyer flow. I feel your connection from the surface to deep within our earth. I will keep watching this channel.
Your loving comments about Teulu reminded me of the smile you had in the video when you first set eyes on her! You said the former owner said that you hadn't stopped smiling since you stepped on board. It was love at first sight!!
Aw, you mentioning that moment really does bring back so many happy memories. I just KNEW that she would be ours, even if everything was against us at the time. Funny how things figure themselves out 😊
I have a quick and easy tip for cutting bolts with a grinder/cutting wheel. First, thread the nut on to the bolt. Then cut it like you did. As you thread the nut off the bolt it will repair and damaged threads from the grinding. I enjoy your channel, wishing you the best.
Becca it is awesome that you are including yourself in the installation of the water maker. The more that you helped with the better prepared you will be in the event that maybe one day you are on the boat alone and something happens it will prepare you to possibly take care of the matter yourself. I'm a very independent woman and I can see that you are as well and that is a good thing. You were so expressive of your boat how she just rode up and down the waves you talked about her like she was a human it was so precious. Again as I've said before your parents must be so proud of both of you, they did a wonderful job of raising both of you. As always stay safe enjoy the newbies on your boat and God bless
Its really important for me to split maintenance and upgrades for that exact reason, plus its super rewarding to see it all up and running (and a good safety tip too). Maybe Teulu really does have a personality - she's definitely got character! Who knows, maybe she'll start talking back one day 😆
You guys sure have come a long way! I have really enjoyed watching your journey thus far and can't wait to see where you go from here. It's exciting that you've been able to add some impactful upgrades to Teulu which will make your future adventures more safe and enjoyable. Congrats!
It's definitely ok to enjoy the fruit of all your hard works! Sit back and relax for a bit, you 2 definitely earned it! Plus the young gentleman that flew up to your aid deserves all the good karma he surely has coming to him and maybe a plaque on your boat! What legend he is! Glad to see both more relaxed and smiling ! You have wonderfully beautiful smiles!
Fantastic to see you both enjoying the fruits of all your long, hard labour. Teulu is a truly beautiful lady of the seas ❤ Happpppppppy Birthday to you too Zach 🎂
As fellow liveaboards, paint the chain to mark the lengths is a short lived solution. More reliable to use webbing markers hand sewn to the chain. 3 markers for 30m, 4 markers, etc. Easy to see in the dark and when they are muddy, you cans still see the marks
Hi Guys, I simply adore my Rocna! You are going to LOVE it! Nothing will make you feel better or sleep better! Keep living the dream! All the best from California 🧡
Your channel is really great. It's authentic, you explain things that you do which helps us all when we do it. We're right there with you. I just wish you didn't think bait was necessary.
So so pleased you’ve tasted freshly made water on board and as a bonus to the video new Anchor ⚓️ and Chain. Living the Dream. All the best to you both
Water, water everywhere, and now you have a lot to drink !!! Well done you two, keep filming, editing and sharing - so very enjoyable to share your adventure !!!
I know traveling all day with the motor running was a drag, but what a sweet sound. The problem with your phone is easily explained Becka, you're on the left coast now girl, and a lot of things are backwards. It's great that you now have unlimited water. I love you two. Stay safe. ❤🙏
Honestly, that was our view too. Hot, burning fuel, and not sailing but also....SO happy it all just works (no spoilers, but maybe that doesn't last too long....stay tuned in the next few ep's...gulp 😂
Yes, very good! Your style reminds me of Salt and Tar, one of my earliest you tube channels to follow. Fresh, candid presentation and an accent that is just charming. I look forward to your next video and pleasant delivery. Cheers!

You should definitely be proud of yourselves. It always makes me sad seeing lines of boats in marinas 😞 ! 24:15 I couldn't help smiling at your "this is not rolly, this is Pacific swell baby" confident sailor manner and thinking back to the video of the first time you anchored overnight near plymouth!
Thanks Tom, and yeah it breaks our hearts too. The hardest bit was seeing all the wrecked boats just abandoned in the Caribbean! Oh my, don't mention the first anchor time 😂 where we let 60m in 6m of water, with 0 wind, miles from anyone else, with 4 anchor alarms set and (wait for it) an ANCHOR WATCH most of the night. So comical, but you have to start somewhere i guess!
Great Vlog. Just found your channel looking at other things and glad I have. Firstly I thought you were from OZ but I continued to watch and realised I had made a mistake. I’m looking forward to your next vlog and finding out if you are going around the world or just Going to certain places.

Both of you are doing whats needed to cross the pacific. Clean drinking water and lots of it along with a good strong engine and good clean fuel + steering maintenance 👍.

Hi Zack and Becka. God, looking at the boat out in the bay on its own looks so cool and like it's meant to be there. If you know what I mean, lol. The engine sounds brilliant and a lovely anchor ⚓️. Becka, if you put a new screen on your phone then sometimes they go wonky, my phone did anyway. Everytime I see Zack he is always stuck under something, lol 😆. Great job 👏 👌🇨🇮
She looked pretty beautiful out there, although we are a bit biased! Haha. I think that was the case about the screen, hey ho, win some you lose some 😂
Thanks for the super thanks and the birthday wishes. I just got a new book for an upcoming passage that was $14.99. So cheers for the book (Voyage of the Beagle) 😊
Hello, my first episode. What brought me here, you just popped up on you tube page, to be honest it was your beautiful face. Then half way thru this episode I new I wanted to see more and subscribed. The fun part will now start by going back to your first episode and watching them all and getting to know you. I'm Rob, I have a 26' Balboa fixed keel lake sailor at Millerton lake in Friant California for the last five years and still learning with luck 26' will morph to 40 or 50' and we will meet at an anchorage who knows where. sending all the best from Cali.
Hi guys, wonderful I see the water maker is going and making purewater. That’s fantastic keep up the good work. Hope you had a good night for your birthday Zach. Cliff 😂 from Australia
Make sure you get some bolt shackles with the bolt and nut instead of the internal thread on the shackle as they tend to stretch over time and the bolt will slide out if the lock wire breaks.
