As a kid i use to turn a fan on, basically right next to me on my face while reading a book…..i can feel the peace & relaxation just thinking about it. The sound of the fan, the air, the relaxation of reading. I knocked out every time. Book on my chest and all. man i need to go back to doing that.

1 hour before bed you take a hot shower than you drink some hot milk and eat a cookie then you stretch with pliability and after that you go for an other shower and you do the hot cold method, then you go to your room do the 4-7-8 breathing methods read 20 minutes set up some sleeping noise then you take a sleeping pill and then you go in bed without any clothes and do the military breathing method and then put some tape on your mouth and you will fall asleep and wake up not the next day but the day after

I’ve definitely done all these methods. Melatonin is by far my least favorite even though I have used it during high stress moments in life were nothing works& it should definitely not be relied on for more than just the occasional high stress need. The breathing method & naked method are my other least favorites but I’ve seen all of them be beneficial when having trouble falling asleep. Stretching, white noise, reading & cold shower I find to be the most effective for daily routine.

I actually find it so hard to sleep withou white noise (a fan is my favorite) and also I always have a warm shower before bed and I either read or watch a full walkthrough of a videogame from my childhood to make the sleepiness really set in. There are some bad nights here and there becuse of life stresses, but I never, NEVER, have insomnia.
And the most underrated goodnight sleep hack is being a good person. People who have bad stuff in their conscience sleep terribly. Whilst people whith a clean one, don't matter the hardships they could be going thorugh, they'll always have the comfort that no one is after them and that they're doing everything the right way.

I prefer reading before sleep, and if I can't, I usually do the millitary program. And I realised, that blue lights really can affect sleeping, so I ignore it around 2-3 hours before sleep. I tried once the naked version, it was terrible. I think I will try the streching version, but I think I will wake up more because of it. And in the end of the video, you said truly, being a night routine is very important (like the morning routine too), because when you start it, your body knows what will come.

nothing is better than a sleep after shower, it always relaxing and makes my skin feel like touching a fur
the second method is to have a machine to vibrate your bed or smth, cuz when i was little and in the car going out with my parents, it felt really nice sleeping while car moved, just like when you were a toddler and your mom or dad move you on their hug trying to relax the child.
AND the third method is to play some musics, not just white, brown, pink blah music, but musics that relaxes you... not make you go crazy or you want to sing along, i personally like liminal space musics... spotify says that, but it felt relaxing... made me cry too...kinda

I like this channel and take it for what it is. I know its just subject experiences and not exactly scientific, but i appreciate the seemingly genuine effort and analysis without an agenda.
That said, how ya gonna use a thumbnail with Andrew Huberman without having gone through his methods?! Haha. Maybe you can do a part two. I know a big thing he recommendeds is red lights-at a certain time before bed (several hours) swap out all lighta with red lights. Also, he already recommends against taking melatonin, but it's cool that you guys came to conclusions that seem to fit with why he recommends against it. Also, he just recommends a (comfortably) hot shower, so that might be easier than the method you tried. I know he has other recommendations and another good source for methods is Dr. Matthew Walker, who wrote Why We Sleep. In addition to Huberman's sleep episode, he has one where he talks with Walker (though you can find him on a lot of podcasts, Joe Rogan's being a good episode too). An example from Walker is wearing socks and gloves to sleep, which has to do with lowering body temperature, which is a recurring element of many techniques.
But, either way, as usual, another awesome video. One last gripe, please add chapters and/or do a do a recap at the end. I save these videos when I want to try things and since I don't always remember everything, it makes it harde4 to have to scroll through several times, over and over again. Please help out those of us with attention and focus deficiencies.

When I tried it, I felt like I lost control of my body at some point and it scared me “awake” (I was still awake, but you get it). I couldn’t fall asleep for half an hour after that.
Maybe I’ll revisit it now. It probably wasn’t the right timing for me, because I was having a lot of nightmares at the time and had trouble falling asleep because of them and that affected me in that method aw well.

I like Swiss massage spa music to help me relax and fall asleep (my white noise). I listen to is and breathe in and out. and some time I will just repeat to myself in my head sleep, sleep, sleep,….. to clear my mind. I all so have sleep apnea, so I sleep with a sleep apnea machine, so I have to sleep with my mouth closed. And if I really cant fall asleep and I need to get to asleep then ya a melatonin pill will definitely knock you out, but yes you will feel tired in the morning, but at least you got sleep! So I really do a combination of a lot of these all ready 😊

I really like the concept and am interested in seeing which method is working since i have a lot of difficulty falling alseep, but I don't think this video really helps? I'm not saying this in a hateful way, just that it seems you fall asleep in an average of 5 min for what i understood (if it's not the case than my bad sorry) which is SUPER fast for me. it takes me a minimum of one hour to sleep.
so i don't see those methods as useful since even without them you seem to have no issue in the subject. i don't know if what i'm saying is clear but yeah
still a great video though !

Same! I’ll take a ten minute warm shower and then I’ll end it with a minute or so of cold. It makes me surprisingly relaxed especially when I focus on my breathing during the cold. It definitely gets me out of my head before I go to sleep.

I have to take melatonin tablets every night but you have to take breaks for it to work effectively, with the tablets it can really vary sometimes i fall asleep at 9pm, sometimes 11, sometimes 12. I took a break for 3 days… I fell asleep at 1am, 12am and 6am… 😅 I think I have issues… even though when I wake up I feel so tired and 4 days of the week I have my alarm set for 6.20am, my mum works full time and I take a while to get ready for breakfast club so I’m still feeling really tired at lunchtime. The reason why I need melatonin is because I have DCD and one of things that comes with DCD is problems sleeping, in my case it’s an overactive imagination, half the time I don’t even know what I’m thinking. I also have to have an audiobook on every night because I need something to anchor my thoughts to, I have tried music but the time that it takes me fall asleep means that I hear it multiple time. All I can hear is the same annoying sound droning on and I’m just like, SHUT UP ALREADY, YOU’RE DOING MY HEAD IN!.. so yeah, the melatonin may make me tired but I personally think it’s worth it. My body may not feel well rested but I know it is and for me that’s enough to keep me going.
I know this has been really long so if you are reading this, thankyou and if you have similar problems, just know your not the only 1, oh and by the way I do have a melatonin prescription, I have to take 2 tablets and I’m in y6

Arjen: "Why don't we do all ten, just at once?" That sounds exhausting! I might be too tired to sleep if I did very many of them on the same evening.
I have tried several of them (and more) over the past few years and stuck with a couple of them. White noise (such as a fan or the recorded sounds of ocean waves on a beach) does a good job of blocking outside noise but can make it harder to sleep on the first night while I get used to it.
