I count my pennies like nobody's business. This was the first MSQC video I ever saw. Watched it a dozen times then took my pennies and ordered the template! LOL!
Oh, what a beautiful quilt. I had a bad head injury a year ago and have been away from quilting. I think that I will buy some blues and get out my template; and watch Jenny's sweet video a few more times; and let this "EE-ZEE" (as Jenny calls it) quilt be my first attempt at getting back to this activity that I love. (That "EE-ZEE" is so encouraging.)

When I learned the art of quilt making back in the early 1970's, I was taught by some Old Order Amish ladies here in Ohio, so everything was done by hand. No sewing machines were used, but I loved it! I got pretty good at it too, and was getting 11 stitches per inch! But it seemed like it took forever to complete even a small project, so I took up other hobbies. Fast forward to 2012 when that urge to quilt came back. But this time, I wanted to do it ALL with one of my sewing machines. I took a few classes, bought a few books (ok, SEVERAL books!) and tried without much success to make a quilt. And then I sprained my hip on Jan. 3, 2015. Since I couldn't drive or do too much of anything, I turned to You Tube for entertainment and that's when I found you and your MAGICAL Quilt Tutorials! Yes, they really are magical! Well for ME anyway! Every time I watch another of your tutorials, my mouth drops open in disbelief and the same old question comes out: HOW did she do that??? I'm learning so much from you and I wanted to thank you! I put off watching this Orange Peel tutorial because I have always hated to do applique, but I think I might like it now. Thank you so so much! My hip is fine now. I can drive again. Maybe I can do a road trip to Hamilton, Missouri. My husband is very good at waiting outside of fabric shops!

@@amyhu7933 I've been to Hamilton, Missouri twice. The first time was in August of 2015 and the 2nd time was in early July of 2016. Both times were so much FUN! And my husband went into every shop with me both times and told me to buy anything I wanted! I'm keeping him!
      What were you smelling?

This quilt looks so much easier than I imagined! I also love blue and white, and I used to collect cobalt blue glass until I moved and realized how much of it I have. I put some pieces on a bookshelf with other glassware and invited every woman who came to visit to choose a piece of blue and take it home with her. It was fascinating to see what people chose. Now I know that each woman will think of me when she spots that piece of blue.

I ordered Fresh Lilacs 10" Squares (which I will have to quarter) by Debbie Beaves for Maywood Studios on your Deal of the Day and I think it will look awesome in this pattern! I collect salt and pepper shakers from all around the world (although I joke they All come from China!). Curiously, I don't have ANY form Missouri!!! LOL. Thank You for all you do for the quilting industry!

Nice and easy, just like you said. I collect sewing machines... I have collected over 30 sewing machines, most of which are vintage. I do have newer machines I use. A Viking Diamond with emb, Bernina with emb, Janome P1600 for my quilting frame, Elna serger, Jaguar (white) Bernina serger, 2 Featherweight Singers, one of which belonged to my Grandmother. Many more singers and others. I love each one. I have of course given away machines to those who don't have them including 2 daughters and granddaughters and several friends. If someone loves to sew like I do they need a sewing machine or two or three or..... Hugs Jenny ... your tutorials are the best... Keep them coming.

Hi Jenny!! Love all your tutorials and REALLY appreciate you teaching and showing new "easy" ways to make old "difficult" blocks. Which makes my old life much easier. In reference to your question ... I collect fabric, books, small (( knick-nack)) animals and killer dust bunnies. I'm 61 years old, I've been quilting since I was 9, and until I watched your videos here on UA-cam I had never ventured outside just plain 8" squares and 9 patch, never trying anything different because I was taught not to waste fabric ... now you make me want to challenge myself to try something new and I'm doing pretty dang good!!! Thank you!

Oh, whoops, I was going to also suggest, that when you have your interfacing pieces cut out, to stack them, and use the rotary cutter to put a slit in the center, BEFORE you stitch them to the fabric piece. This way, you (insert 'I' here) am much less likely to cut into my fabric at some point after they are sewn and turned. Just a thought.

HI Jenny. Thank you for asking about collections. Since you asked, I started thinking about whether I have ANYTHING I collect. Then I realized I have been collecting shells for a very long time. I love their subtle shades of color and the matte or gloss surfaces. I have them in dishes, jars and pots of all kinds round my home and have given and received them as gifts. It makes me happy to think about them, so, as I say, thank you for asking!
P.S. I suppose you have perceived by now what a blessing you (and your family) are and what a splendid ministry you are providing for around twelve-hundred billion people out here in cyberspace. THANK YOU and may God truly bless you!

Jenny, I feel like we are two peas out of the same pod. I, too, love blue and white. I like to collect things that I can use and things that I don't use. My husband and I were real antique buffs before kids and the expenses of fees for everything. We have copper and glass through out the house that remind us of times before children. Now we have 9 grandchildren to remind us of how blessed we have been. Thanks again for this lovely pattern.

Hi Jenny! I've been searching for the best/easiest method to make one of these quilts and your method has won. I'm waiting for my 'football' to be delivered, along with a group of fat quarters from white through dark gray, for a shaded background. The footballs will be an assortment of bright batiks! Wish me luck!
Oh, I've started a collection of old/antique/toy sewing machines. I've got three so far and they are adorable. They're displayed in my sewing room. I also have a collection of pitchers...yes, the ones that pour. I simply love the curves of pitchers, from the handles to the lips and I go from very small to quite large. Strange, eh? Takes all kinds!

Jenny! This is genius, and so gorgeous! I've always wanted to make a Rob Peter to Pay Paul quilt, and this gives me a great idea on how to do that too. If you sew two jelly roll strips together you could have the two colored seed shapes, then piece charm packs together and applique the seeds over the seams. I hope that made sense, I'm sure you'd be able to come up with something amazing, as always.

Well! All I can say is this is genius! I never tire of watching your videos! Thank you so much for all you do. After I watch a Missouri Star video I am so filled with inspiration. I’ve mostly watched the more recent videos but the other day I happened on a few that were from 6 or 7 years ago. Maybe longer. I didn’t realize how long you’ve been doing these videos! I too love blue and white dishes. There is a children’s book explaining the story behind the blue willow pattern on many sets. I used to read the book to my 4th grade students . I brought a few of my dishes to class so they had the plates to follow the story. Every story element is somewhere in the designs. I am retired now and you brought back a beautiful memory for me with my kiddos. I do believe I will have to make a blue and white quilt now.
Jenny, you are a master teacher! A natural on every one of your tutorials. One thing caught my eye that you do occasionally. When you have some scraps to get rid of you just sweep them on the floor. I have to giggle because this is exactly what I told my students to do when we were doing art projects. They loved it. Then we picked up everything when we were finished. I actually had a math lesson when they were learning geometry. We made quilt blocks out of construction paper. It was an excellent culmination of learning shapes and particularly angles and symmetry. Quilts are about creativity, pride and a lot of love. Thank you again for all that you and your staff do !

I am gonna make the "football" shapes with football inspired material and the background in green for the playing field, framed in white for the goal post and I will score a touchdown with my favorite football player! Twenty yrs ago a friend gave me a ceramic cat cookie jar as a house warming gift. It went straight to the 'happy/joy, I want more' center of my brain and made itself at home. And, of course, it wanted friends of all sizes, shapes, colors, textures, media and usage. Now I have a hutch full of cats that make me happy. One of these days I intend to make that quilt with the patchwork cat shape. It's on the list and the list just gets longer no matter how many quilts I make and that makes me happy, too.

I still have a LOT of interfacing left from making masks!! What a great idea for using it! You asked us to share what we collect. I LOVE blue and white too! My kitchen has blues, grays, whites & cobalt-blue patterned stoneware. 😀 I collect salt & pepper shakers mostly, but also blown glass eggs, seashells, cranberry glass from Sandwich, Massachusetts, crystal baubles, recipes, fabrics-and little knickknacks here and there occasionally LOL. Nothing cluttery though-they have their own places. I seem to collect animals as well-somehow I “find” them when they need someone to love them. I have an uncanny urge to look in (a building) or at (website) and find the ones that need me. Or someone finds them for me!! I’ve “found” my 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 1 of my horses who would have been put down if I didn’t find her, pay too much $$ for her, and have her trailered to Missouri from Wyoming. I think I’m nuts sometimes. 🤔 my husband keeps saying “no more pets” but falls in love with my finds anyway!!
Love your videos, love your patterns, and think you guys are the greatest!! I’ll visit Hamilton at couple times this year from just outside KC. 💜 Blessings!!

Hi Jenny, For 35 years I collected Peter Pots Pottery in the blue color. It is made here in Rhode Island and I just love it. My husband passed away 7 years ago and I had to downsize and no longer had room for my colection, which had gotten quite large. My youngest decided she loved it almost as much as I did so I gave it to her and her boyfriend. Happily they use the dishes and various other pieces daily. The best news is I can still collect it, give it to them as gifts (great for holidays) and still enjoy it when I visit her.

OMGosh so many I literally have no idea how many I have - too many to count. Hi Jenny: I enjoyed this tutorial. I can't wait to try making my own quilt using the Orange Peel design. I like to collect refrigerator magnets I have unique ones from the different states I've visited; but I also like picking them up from antique stores, flea markets and estate sales. Recently, however, I've started collecting sewing machine knick knacks for my quilting room (still under construction). So far, I only have two, but I enjoy the hunt. Thanks. Just got this orange peel template and cutting away! I am a collector of red-just about anything red but especially dishware and knickknacks. And I collect vintage sewing machines of course. Didn’t intend to do the last but I kept learning how to fix my own and falling in love with them as a result-narcissistic that way I guess, lol. I also have quite a fabric and linens collection along with many rulers, scissors, pins, etc, you know the stuff. As I think about it I also hunt down old sewing books, cook books, craft magazines, and Bibles.

OMG....I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS BLOCK!!!!! I'm a newbie and making my very first quilt that is also a memory quilt and uses my dearly departed father's favorite pair of lounge pants that he wore while he was alive. I'm making this for my mother and I've been searching for something that is easy but don't have the usual average everyday quilt blocks and since I'm very limited on the amount of fabric I have of that and have already ran into issues with cutting and the typical newbie mess ups and mistakes I'm now having to find something that will use the size that I precut everything to be (not knowing what a bad idea that was and a huge mistake that was gonna end up being) anyway I have changed my mind 3 different times after making sample blocks and FINALLY I've got one I love!!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!! And I love your channel and thank you for the help you have given me by watching your videos!!!!

Love watching Jenny's videos. This time I picked up the most simplest thing. On my new machine each time I go from my decorative to straight stitches, I press my buttons to select the straight stitch again. With a flick of a stitch, I noticed Jenny turns her machine off and then back on which naturally defaults back to the straight stitch setting! Love this!
