      2007 Honda manual calls for hypoid gear oil, don't use regular synthetic gear oil.

    • @MikeTrullAmsoildealer
      @MikeTrullAmsoildealer  10 місяців тому

      @@speakfreely.1776 we use the Honda genuine vtm-4 fluid in the rear differential and here is a statement from Amsoil Incorporated on their Severe Gear product that we used in the transfer case:
      Commonly found in axle differentials, hypoid gears are used to transmit power from the driveline to the axle shafts. They are basically spiral bevel gears, where the pinion engages below the centerline of the ring gear. This lowers the driveshaft away from the bottom of the vehicle. Hypoid gear oil is formulated with extreme-pressure (EP) additives to protect and operate effectively with hypoid gears. AMSOIL SEVERE GEAR® Synthetic Gear Lube offers outstanding protection for hypoid gears.

    Super helpful video. The problem with Honda products is the maintenance minder and lack of clear service intervals in the manual. Sometimes, the maintenance minder intervals defy common sense (and makes me nervous). We currently have two Pilots and a CR-V. I'll be doing service on the fluids at reasonable intervals and not waiting on maintenance minder.

    • @MikeTrullAmsoildealer
      @MikeTrullAmsoildealer  3 роки тому

      Praise God. I never imagined this video would be as popular as it is I'm so glad it is helpful to people. Yeah I hear you sometimes you need to do maintenance intervals according to your own research or even whatever gives you peace of mind. Feel free to browse other products Amsoil make for your Hondas at my website number1synthetic.com
      For example on the motor oil side there are three different tiers of synthetic oil Signature Series , and XL which are both designed for extended drain intervals and then OE which is designed for factory service intervals but it is still a high quality synthetic oil. You can look up your vehicle by year make model and engine if you want and get a custom list all fluids including capacity.

      Hi, do you have a howling sound on the back part of the car when you drive?

    • @MikeTrullAmsoildealer
      @MikeTrullAmsoildealer  4 роки тому

      @@ianzapanta9503 no our Pilot wasn't making any noise, the reason I changed the differential fluid was that it came up as a maintenance code b6 on the dash. From what I have heard though there will be a bizarre grinding or possibly howling sound like you described but generally only when turning corners if it's the differential fluid. If your sound is happening all the time, then yeah I would look to tires, alignment, wheel bearings. I hope this helps

    Question on the transfer case fluid, you used 75W-90. The manual for my 08 says SAE-90 or 80W-90 which Amsoil does sell. Any reason you used the 75?

    • @MikeTrullAmsoildealer
      @MikeTrullAmsoildealer  3 роки тому +4

      Hahaha main reason was at that time I don't think they offered the 80w 90 in the EZ pack. I believe they do now. And I thought the Honda fluid was actually 75w 85 or something weird, but Amsoil confidently recommends the 75w 90 in its place. By all means go ahead and use what your owner's manual is telling you to use. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

Also if you raise the vehicle you would need to raise both ends and keep it level for when you go to fill the fluid and check the level. Thanks for watching!
