I think belligol deserves it. To me it’s not even a question, Bellingham has all the Real Madrid achievements like Vinicius and adding getting in to the euro final. He scored big goals in big games, like the bicycle in the euros in the last minutes of the game to advance in the euros, and I remember against barca in el clásico. He got basically the same stats as Vinicius, goals and assists but being a midfielder which is even more impressive getting close to the number of goals Vinicius scored

It's not about the amount of G/A a player has, it's about how clinical and important those goals are. Suarez was a major UCL ghost while Vini is one of the most clinical ucl players I've ever seen. A problem with modern football is that, nowadays, people just look at the stats and think "oh this player is better than this other due to stats". Something few people would have done so, in previous eras.
When Baggio was barely winning any trophies, or Ronaldo was receiving the Ballon d'Or with only 9 goal contributions the whole year, no one was questioning how did they get considered World Class players, because it's not just "who wins more" or "who scores more".
I feel like we could have a parallelism with basketball. We've got Kobe Bryant and LeBron James' careers overlapping (13 years between LeBron's debut and Kobe's retirement), and then LeBron had to compete with Steph Curry. These players have set basketball standards so high that people do feel like the sport has fallen off.
Not to mention, the "poor" stats that Vinicius and Bellingham have pulled off would have made them Golden Boot contenders in pre-2010 football. Vinicius literally scores as much as Shevchenko, a top striker who even won the Ballon d'Or. Bellingham is pulling the strings in midfield for Real Madrid just like Nedved did for Juventus in 2003, a year when he won the Ballon d'Or (which retroactively became a controversial one 20 years later just because "Henry had more goal contributions that year").
Football is literally back at where it was before Ronaldo and Messi made it big, and basketball will probably take some time, but could eventually return to pre-Kobe and LeBron days (although it might be tougher since there was the Michael Jordan era before then, and before *that* there was also the Larry Bird-Magic Johnson era). Let's just try to enjoy this game

Just an important note, the ballon d'or award is for the best player in a season year no matter what the standard or level of the footballers in their present eras. A player can actually win the ballon d'or for what he did of good performance in a specific season and than retire the season after. So its not related to age, its related to the performance of the player in one season no matter its consistent or not

No forward players deserve the Balon D'or for the 2023/24 season.
This year's balon do'r should go to a midfielder.
Why?
In 2018, Modric won the balon do'r despite Messi and Cr7 scoring 50 goals for club and country. Modric won the ucl with madrid and reached the finals with his national team which they lost to France.
Using that logic, no players scored 50 goals this season so Bellingham should win the balon d'or because he reached the finals of an international cup and won the ucl just like Modric back in 2018 while scoring and assisting a lot more than Modric.
Or Rodri.
If anybody else wins it, we can conclude that balon do'r has no value because it's just a popularity contest and has nothing to do with football
