Ballon d'or lost its

My problem with the Balon d'Or is that Champions League should always play a big role in who is the winner. The fact that Carvajal didn't win despite playing a vital role in Spain winning the Euros and played a vital role in Madrid winning the Champions League but Rodri won doesn't make any sense. Rodri didn't even have his best season ever this year (his best season was the Treble season) and was mediocre in the Euro's but yet he won the Balon d'or? I think Vini should have won but many people said that he didn't deserve it because of him flopping in Copa America. I don't understand what criteria they used in making Rodri the winner because by using almost any criteria the winner would be a Madrid player because they won the champions league and they had at least 7 players who had stellar seasons and deserved it as much as Rodri did.

As a Real Madrid fan, although I am disappointed that Vini Jr didn't win the Balon d'Or, we have no reason to be salty about it, Rodri also had a great season, and this race was very close, so we shouldn't be so salty about it, like in 2013, Bayern had every reason to boycott France football for not giving the Balon D'Or to Ribery, but they weren't so we shouldn't either. The real robbery in my opinion is how Xabi Alonso didn't win manager of the year. Although Ancelotti did great with Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso took a relegation leverkusen team, to champions of the bundesliga, doing so undefeated the entire 2023 - 2024 season. The problem and racism allegations weren’t because simply Vini didn’t win it. It was because of why he didn’t. According to them it was that Rodri “fit the criteria” more as he won Euros. Okay Real Madrid then thought that would mean Carvajal would get it as he didn’t only win and perform well at the euros but also in la liga, and champions league. Instead they gave it to a player that was not even nominated as the best player in his league … you could even say that there was a better player than him in his own club. I think that says everything

For me, it would have been justified if either one of them (or even Carvajal) had won, but it just so happened that Rodri received more points from the voters, and that’s fair. As a Liverpool fan, I think Rodri deserved it. 27 G/A as a defensive midfielder and only losing 1 game all year is impressive and not easy to do. A lot of people's arguments for why Vini should win it is that Rodri wasn't even the Premier League POTY but fail to realize Vini wasn't the LaLiga one either. People also say that Rodri wasn't even the best on the Spain team during the Euros, which is debatable, but everyone thinks that G/A = how good someone is and not the impact on a team. Vini had a really good season but really lacks the class and sportsmanship (which is a criteria for the Ballon D'Or) and the consistency. I also find it kind of funny that Real Madrid fans are spewing hate at Rodrigo De Paul or even Olivia Rodrigo because they don't even really know Rodri and are just mad that their player didn't win...
