- replacing a switch is relatively straightforward, you copy the connection in the previous setup. onto the new switch. however, if you mix up the wires, this is how you would identify and fix the mess.

My 3 gang switch has 1 com port but my new one has 3 com ports, 1 for each L1. I was told that I need to connect the com ports. What kind of wire should I use ? On online shopping I can see AWG ranging from 14 to 30. Thanks.

Don't forget LOTO hehe. Anyway, any idea on how to convert concealed socket(new bto) to those protruding socket with casing? I'm thinking of creating additional power socket loop that runs externally like old hdbs.
Easy just mount the box over the existing hole and pass the wires through. You can even use the concealed screw mounts to attach the new box (drilling the box may be required.) Then use gap filler to fill up the remaining gaps!

I assume that style neon tester is still legal in your country. You would get thrown off site in UK/Europe. Use a non-contact voltage test pen.

Well if you understand the circuit well you know "dead zones. I recommend shutting off the breakers as many of my viewers are beginners and that is the safest thing to do do
Psps, can I check if the daisy chain wire can be slot into a N (neutral) slot? Cause the standard HDB 2 gang switch has L1 & L and L2 and L. But the new one I bought has L1 L2 L and N. Connecting the live and the daisy chain to L doesnt work

For a 2 gang 1 way smart switch where there is a Live, Neutral and two Load terminals, is the COM wire for the rest of the house inserted into the Neutral terminal of the smart switch?
Hi different smart switches have different wiring. Best ask your supplier
The old switch will have the label for the wiring for live n netural?
Switches are usually live and load, light point is live and neutral. Depending on who installed it your wires may be labelled or unlabelled.

My punggol home 2 gangs 1 way only have 3 wires (not 4) to connect 2 lights , is it possible. Gang 1: wire 1 to COM, wire 2 to the other slot. Gang2: daisy chain wire in one slot, wire 3 to other slot. Total only 3 wires : wire 1,2,3
Yes if it is 2 gang 1 way, having 3 wires is correct because that's the end of the chain

Can attest to not putting silicone around switches. U can't paint over silicone lol. Anyway to paint over silicone?
Nah it depends on the silicone. It must be the printable kind. I usually use caulk. Check the link below. This one is says paintable on the tube

Meaning your light use different breaker/MCB. Hope this will help.😊
