Oh yeah.. Its all coming together! All the tools you've made in the past, the punch, the pick, the crescent shaped cutter. All being used to create this masterpiece of a belt! Incredible!
For future reference, if you leave the foldback longer behind the buckle and just stitch down both sides you make a stronger belt. Stitching across parallel to the buckle is a perforated line where the leather is weakened. It can and does fail and in a worst case the buckle actually tears off. Beautiful buckle though.
Why not just use rivets instead of stitching it? I have an inexpensive department store belt made from an approximately 1/8" thick plain leather strap (no idea what the grade of leather is) that doesn't have any stitching at all, just 2 rivets to hold the buckle and loop in place. It finally broke a few weeks ago after about 32 years (I got it in 1991 when I was 16), but it didn't break on the buckle end, it broke on the other end across one of the prong holes. The buckle end is still plenty strong, and if I were to graft a new piece of leather onto the other end, I could probably get a couple more decades of use out of it.

Fascinerande. Inte bara titta på smide och läderverk, utan känna igen alla andra verktyg som gjorts i tidigare videor. Fascinating. Not just watching the forging and leatherwork, but recognizing all the other tools made in previous videos.
I'm on the 3rd belt of my life, all leather. And if I'd bought one if your belts I'd still be on my 1st!! Sir that was some fine Craftsman ship you showed !!! That was truly Awesome! Thank you
That belt looks sincerely amazing! Manufacturing something by ourselves already feels great, but doing that using the tools we created ourselves, oh that must feel FANTASTIC!!!
Finally! Someone who puts a proper edge finish on their home made leather work projects! ( and for those of you wondering, you don’t need a powered burnisher to finish the edge, a hand one works fine, just takes longer). Beautiful craftsmanship thru and thru.
I wouldn't consider that "a simple project". You show how very thoughtful the process was and that you have an eye for the details. It's cool to see that you used you own tools to make this belt as well.
Torbjorn, it's been a while since your last upload Sir, but the waiting has been absolutely worth every second, minute, hour and day as you never fail to mesmerize and captivate each and all of us "your subscriber's" with your mastery and expertise. It's like you touch a cold piece of metal and through the process of forging you create a heart within it and bring it to life. Truly a Master. Piece and Love to you and your's Sir.
20:05 - when punching holes with punch pliers - squeeze the punch through the leather, rotate 90-degrees left then right, and finally remove the pliars. The rotating will give a clean cut and remove the punched plug too.
This is an amazing project, I will work on making one myself. Your videos are what got me interested in blacksmithing and I have been doing it for a couple years now.
I love how ultimately utilitarian everything you make is. It's not that it lacks beauty, and I know you do make art at the forge, but if it's made to be used, then its aesthetic has to grow forth organically from that, as far as what I've seen. Not a whole lot of fancy damascus steel coming from you but I'd rather buy one of your pieces anyway.
One other thing for me is not only is the work so exquisite; But I can listen to the sounds in the workshop and adjusting my sound, makes me feel that I am there watching. And have not got a load of music blasting up and down in my ears to spoil it.
@@Dave.Wilson I think he was referring to the fact that he didn't make holes to make it tighter implying that he's only gonna put on weight and definitely has no intention of losing any weight 😂
I love this video style. The montage-esque style with the little bits of movie magic you do, like with starting the fire in the forge, and then the breaks you take when you work on something else, like the greenhouse. Great stuff!
You ACED this project, what a lovely job on that leather and the belt buckle, the awl came in real handy for marking holes in the leather for the leather punch. Very nice job.

Great job-again-the only point i do differently is that i work the loop on both sides in to the belt, it makes easier to wear. i make mostly brass and RVS buckles. Great trick with the copper wire. Thanks.

Very nicely done, and to your usual high level of excellence!!
