The hardest part of learning blacksmithing is definitely learning how to start the forge like that :)
:) Takes a couple of tries!
Magic fingers ;-)
Yea I’ve been trying now for 4 years! Still don’t have the powers of the thunder bear!
I disagree. The hardest thing is just learning how to start.
One year in Ahman's School like the Hogwart's School is all you need. :)
Fantastic job Tor, however i think you should have a hidden compartment for a tiny hammer 🛠😎, greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪 🍀 👍.
Well that's one way to get a belt that fits properly. Looks great.
Oh yeah.. Its all coming together!
All the tools you've made in the past, the punch, the pick, the crescent shaped cutter. All being used to create this masterpiece of a belt!
Incredible!
Yes! Thank you!
I believe that curved bladed knife is called a round headed skiving knife.
@@sindarpeacheyeisacommie8688 thank you! I appreciate the correction, I didn't really know what it was called😁
@@torbjornahman 👏👏👏
For future reference, if you leave the foldback longer behind the buckle and just stitch down both sides you make a stronger belt. Stitching across parallel to the buckle is a perforated line where the leather is weakened. It can and does fail and in a worst case the buckle actually tears off. Beautiful buckle though.
Why not just use rivets instead of stitching it? I have an inexpensive department store belt made from an approximately 1/8" thick plain leather strap (no idea what the grade of leather is) that doesn't have any stitching at all, just 2 rivets to hold the buckle and loop in place. It finally broke a few weeks ago after about 32 years (I got it in 1991 when I was 16), but it didn't break on the buckle end, it broke on the other end across one of the prong holes. The buckle end is still plenty strong, and if I were to graft a new piece of leather onto the other end, I could probably get a couple more decades of use out of it.
Работаю в лесной структуре, но Ваш канал просто обожаю!
I like how Vadim wrote "Your channel" with a capitol Y. Indeed i also adore Your channel Torbjörn 😉
Steel & Leather, lovely duo.
True.
He makes babies too.
I love you because you make stuff other than knives and swords…useful stuff like a belt and buckle
Right, no I'm not.... :)

You constantly demonstrate this in your well crafted videos. Thank you,
JRS
This is high class craftsmanship.
Apart from this being another splendid piece of smithing, I recognised most of the tools you were using as previous examples of your handiwork . I know what a treat it is to use your handmade toolkit to make new work. Grand stuff to watch as always. John Warner. NSW Australia
20:05 - when punching holes with punch pliers - squeeze the punch through the leather, rotate 90-degrees left then right, and finally remove the pliars. The rotating will give a clean cut and remove the punched plug too.
Good tip! Thanks
One other thing for me is not only is the work so exquisite;
But I can listen to the sounds in the workshop and adjusting my sound, makes me feel that I am there watching.
And have not got a load of music blasting up and down in my ears to spoil it.
Im happy to see someone properly saddle stitch. thank you.
Thanks!
It's clear that you take pride in every piece you make. It's inspiring!
That belt looks sincerely amazing! Manufacturing something by ourselves already feels great, but doing that using the tools we created ourselves, oh that must feel FANTASTIC!!!
Fascinerande. Inte bara titta på smide och läderverk, utan känna igen alla andra verktyg som gjorts i tidigare videor.
Fascinating. Not just watching the forging and leatherwork, but recognizing all the other tools made in previous videos.
I'm on the 3rd belt of my life, all leather.
And if I'd bought one if your belts I'd still be on my 1st!! Sir that was some fine Craftsman ship you showed !!!
That was truly Awesome! Thank you
Torbjorn, it's been a while since your last upload Sir, but the waiting has been absolutely worth every second, minute, hour and day as you never fail to mesmerize and captivate each and all of us "your subscriber's" with your mastery and expertise. It's like you touch a cold piece of metal and through the process of forging you create a heart within it and bring it to life. Truly a Master. Piece and Love to you and your's Sir.
Wow, thank you!!
@@torbjornahman lol a piece of what ?? Or would you mean peace ? Tho I absolutely share your sentiment
Beautiful belt!!! Such amazing intricate work!!! Impressive craftsmanship!!! You never cease to amaze me with your talent!!
I forgot about the half moon knife and punches! So cool to see them in action.
I don't know English, but I was surprised by the making of the buckle, I have no words, excellent work, all in all, buckle and belt.
What a beautiful belt you created with your hands! 😁👏👏👏
Always a tricky treat to see how you start a project and the workflow afterwards for me, and learn so much in the process! Quality details with simple designs and functionality made with homemade tools...doesn't get much better! Thanks Much for your fire starting tips. ;-P Hat Tip, ~PJ
I'm glad it was helpful! :) :) Thanks PJ
I turn off Adblocker when watch this man awesome videos
It's fantastic to work with self-made tools! Great job Torbjorn
A real joy to watch, superb craftsmanship, great video photography, and no terrible music!
As always meticulously done, a master piece of craftmansship. And it is good to see that you only have made holes to make the belt wider ;-)
:) Thanks!!
That's how belts work!!, Well mine do anyway.
@@Dave.Wilson I think he was referring to the fact that he didn't make holes to make it tighter implying that he's only gonna put on weight and definitely has no intention of losing any weight 😂
@@Dave.Wilson he's saying "I'm glad you're well-fed and comfortable" in a very roundabout way.
Wow!
One thing I'd change though... Another leather loop between your first and second trouser loops
Some of the humor in the video is mandatory, I like it. Great job! And I'm just dreaming of a blacksmith shop for now.
so they say, a talented person, talented in everything.
thank you very much.
Только у любищего своё дело мастера всегда, всё получается! Спасибо за пример) 👍👏🤚
Certainly, my dear.
idk why, but i find burnishing the edge of leather so satisfying.
wow i've seen shoemakers videos where they rub wood sticks on their soles in order to make them brown, this takes aprox one million light years, but this rotative wood bit is next gen leather browning technology. i hope you get a nobel prize for that.
I love this video style. The montage-esque style with the little bits of movie magic you do, like with starting the fire in the forge, and then the breaks you take when you work on something else, like the greenhouse. Great stuff!
Thank you so much!
De vânzare nu aveți și dacă aveți vreau și eu una lăsați un număr de telefon mulțumesc
This never gets old! That’s a belt that that’s going to last for many years. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Robert!

I think it's awesome seeing TA use a tool that we got to watch him make.
Nice to see so many of the tools you have made being used to make something else. Beautiful work as always. 🏴
Great job-again-the only point i do differently is that i work the loop on both sides in to the belt, it makes easier to wear. i make mostly brass and RVS buckles. Great trick with the copper wire. Thanks.
that is awesome and just about the best belt I have seen in a long time..... you just cant pop to the shops and buy anything like that! nice work
Well done! Your attention to every little detail is the mark of a true craftsman!
That knife thing you used to cut the leather is class.
Ваше творчество выше всяких похвал! Каждое изделие - произведение искусства! Каждый ремесленник должен сделать себе такой ремень!🔥👍🏻
This is an amazing project, I will work on making one myself. Your videos are what got me interested in blacksmithing and I have been doing it for a couple years now.
Wow, that's lovely to hear! Thank you
Wonderful craftmanship!
Also that vintage Genius mousepad from 1992. The memories...
:) The memories... Might have been earlier than that I'm afraid.
Perfection! I just made my own belt yesterday too! But I am in love with your buckle! Great job sir!
Good work absolutely and I really like this one, pretty awesome.
Looks awesome
I wouldn't consider that "a simple project". You show how very thoughtful the process was and that you have an eye for the details. It's cool to see that you used you own tools to make this belt as well.
So amazing, I smell the coke, hot iron and leather. Remarkable talent this man has been blessed with.
Beautiful as always, you never fail to disappoint and I always enjoy seeing notifications telling me a new video is out.
Yay, thank you!
Eres todo un maestro, artesano y líder en todo lo que haces. Eres un GRAN FENÓMENO.
it's nice to watch when a professional is working
it looks very pretty! I like how the needlework ends up as an ornament too
Very nicely done, and to your usual high level of excellence!! I made something similar once from stainless steel in the shape of a horse shoe, it has a 50mm strap,(I need it that big to hold up my ever increasing middle age spread, lol), and marks that look like holes for horse shoe nails. Another great video, top job 👍. Regards from Down Under.
Ha ha, that sounds cool! Thank you!
I love how ultimately utilitarian everything you make is. It's not that it lacks beauty, and I know you do make art at the forge, but if it's made to be used, then its aesthetic has to grow forth organically from that, as far as what I've seen. Not a whole lot of fancy damascus steel coming from you but I'd rather buy one of your pieces anyway.
Thanks!
Awesome looking belt. I also loved how you ended up using several tools that you made in past videos.
What I love most about this video is all the tools you have made and used to make this simple item.
Gran trabajo !! 👏👏👌
Сколько смотрю, столько и удивляюсь, какие золотые руки у человека 👍👍👍 можно магазин открывать☺️
One of a kind Thunder Bear belt. Love it.
A work of art. The belt and the videography. Thank you for sharing this, It's hard to explain the satisfaction I get watching you craft something so simple and useful, yet so durable and beautiful.

Naprosto perfektní. Moc pěkná práce.
Astonishing belt. Always love to find a new video of yours in my subscription feed.
So many things I didn't know before about making a buckle and a belt. Just great - and all hand made.
5:17 Ouchie! Thats a really nice belt. Well done! I need to try doing a bit of leatherwork someday, and forging aswell for that matter.
That smoke was from his fingers! That's got to hurt!
Well spotted
your editing and video making skills are top tier! very entertaining video
Thank you so much 🤗

Como vc sabe disso tudo? Vendo o canal do UA-cam como eu. Faz tudo mesmo.
Um brasileiro? Eu também admiro o trabalho dele. Sou da paraiba.
Those stiching rather than rivets, and the making of the buckle, wow, amazing man. You have got my vote.
It's a beautiful belt. Especially the belt buckle is great.
Nice work with perfect craftsmanship as always. Though I must say, personally I perfer square buckels. The horsehsoe type deform the leather too much over time. But as I said personal preference.
Thanks!
I would love to see you make more leather working tools.
Me too!
@@torbjornahman Do a pricking iron next. They are awfully convoluted the way I do it.
@@torbjornahman Maybe an oval punch for buckles or an English style strap end punch?
I used to love working leather, and there's nothing like the smell of harness freshly saddle soaped and oiled.
I've gifted my tools to my 12yo nephew as he shows quite an interest. Hopefully the tradition will carry on
@@demastust.2277 A superior stitching iron will have all the teeth twisted diagonal, so the leather won't tear between if you cinch the stitches up tight.
@@demastust.2277 A pricking iron would be cool to make, but it's so small detail and it needs to be symmetrical and equally spaced. It would be tedious to hand file it...
One of the most talented people I have ever seen, by far!
Another work of art in an everyday object. Wear it proud, I would.
Piękna robota... Pozdrawiam👍👍🇵🇱
Тоже такой ремешок хочу.
Что бы такой ремень носить,нужно как минимум кузницу такую иметь😜.
Thank you. I learned a lot of leather craftsmanship.
Torbjorn is the best !!! 👍
Beautiful belt and buckle, love the detail!
As usual, fantastic work! You've even mastered the magic of starting fire.
Now this is the Best Belt. Which cant be destroyed nor get old.
Thanks to you man
Awesome job! Im just now getting into leather bending and have made a few knives as well. That looks like a good next project! Love the design!
Loving the macro lens work. Beautiful presentation as always.
Another excellent piece that shows off a variety of techniques
A wonderful video. You sir are an inspiration to starting blacksmiths. I love watching your videos. Thank you!
Outstanding job on your belt!!!
True Craftsman. Nice job.
Nailed again, mate! Hats off!
Congratulations (and my thanks) for getting that shot of the copper braze melting and flowing in the forge.
That must have been about the hardest part of the process. Wow.
Some serious completion in the handmade belt world!
Видно що майстер своєї роботи .Дякую .
Splendid work a master at his job but i love to see the magic it should be done more .......
I loved that forge start
I’d like to like this video a hundred and one times!
