    Great information. Taught me quite a bit about tunercats. Ive only tuned LS with HP tuners.
    Question: I had tunercats freeze on me today and bricked the PCM. From my research online this isn’t uncommon. My question is, you know anyone that repairs these PCMs? I’m here in Houston.

      Noe Suarez Thats helpful. I didn’t see anything about it on there website so I didn’t know. I sent them an email.
      This is actually my fathers friends car who is fuel injection illiterate. He reached out to me about an throttle response issue he was having. Turns out the knock sensor pulling out timing. We replaced sensor and still threw a code. So to temporarily mitigate the false knock I changed the max retard to 3 degrees and then, boom, bricked it right after verifying connectivity from a read.
      My first thought was to change it over to a 411 PCM because I have 4 of them laying around my house and it is a platform I am more familiar with. You can also clone an unlimited amount of them using LS Droid. I watched a video on the horsepower tube channel where he did this, unplugged the rear distributor and it ran fine, which I guess made it batch fire, running off of crank signal only.
      I’m curious if you’ve done this without the rear distributor or know anyone that has. I’m wondering if that would be possible with out some sort of cam signal upon first start up. Although batch firing has some downsides, I think it would be beneficial and inexpensive way just to bypass the optical sensor on the optispark. It would be cool to see a video on this. I’d hate for him to brick another PCM, spend $60, when I can go to the junkyard and get 411 PCMs all day.
      Either way, if it’s not a viable option, your videos laid out a lot of good information and it made me realize that tuning these LT PCMs are less complicated, though more tedious as you pointed out. Thanks a lot for these videos.

      @@claytoncarter absolutely, you can actually use the opti as a cam signal only, you could use a set of LS1 coils or even the coil pack set up from the Northstar engines if you wanted to bypass the opti for spark, even though, you'll still be using it for cam signal

      Noe Suarez okay. I wasn’t aware of the northstar coil on plug set-up. I’ll read into that more.
      This swap is just using the early LS computer, but not coil on plug. The 99-2000 Express vans with that still had the old 5.7 vortec but were managed by the LS computer(411). So he made an intake provision for a rear distributor on his LT1, swapped the PCM pins over to the newer connectors. Then he discovered it would run fine without the cam sensor portion of the rear distributor even plugged in. Here’s the video. He mad like 10 videos but this one sums it up.

    Hey man awesome video! I have a quick question, I have a 1994 z28 Camaro lt1 with a built 383 stroker in it. I have a crank no fire issue and I’ve done a new optispark and the lingenfelter LTCC coil on plug setup on the car and still a crank no start issue. I had 3 mechanics say the PCM is bad. What are my option? Do I buy a factory PCM and than take it and the car to get tuned or is there a place that can fix my PCM and save my tune possibly? I bought the car like this so I have no idea on anything engine spec wise other than it’s a 383 stroker and I was told I can get the PCM fixed and the tune is saved in the chip in the PCM and everything could be salvaged?

    Hey Noe, thanks a million for the walkthrough. So for tuning I just advance timing until spark knock then retard a degree or two until no more knock. As far as fueling, when you are dividing your AFR by your target AFR that gives you the percentage change. I understand that, but, my question is: when you add the percentage change and it raises the MAP value does that mean KPH of the MAP raises as fuel does? And can you also subtract fuel instead of adding it if needed? Thanks man!

Do I only need to advance and retard the 95 and 100 KPA columns or how do i know which ones to advance? I understand once the engine knocks to retard it by a degree or two. Thank you Noe!

      I like using cats over tuner pro, but there's really hardly any difference in the both, if you don't get the correct xdf for with the ads file in tuner pro, it'll have corrupt data in it

    Hey man, I just bought a "LT1 Pro-Tune-1" off of Tunercat's website for my 94' Camaro Z28. I am wanting to install Kook's Longtube Headers with EGR/Emissions fittings and high flow catted Y-pipes but was told the car wouldn't run too well without a tune and was wanting to get your opinion on it and help.
    I understand the "disabling codes" part but everything else is pretty confusing. Do you have an email or instagram I can contact you from?

    Out of a stock 94 LT1, what’s the average gain in power and/or mileage could you get from just tuning?

      Usually I get anywhere from 35 to 40 HP gain every time I put them on the dyno

    Awesome tips i just installed a cc503 in my 95 lt1 and im playing with the tune. i have a question. whenever i put the car in reverse/ Drive (a4) the rpms drop to 400-500 rpm. i have my idle set to 800 rpms and my iac counts are in the 30-40 range. any idea why its bogging down? thanks

      It sounds like you might have not put a stall converter, with that size camshaft, you'll need a stall torque converter

      @@Noeysuarez thanks for the quick reply. Yea i still have the stock converter. I couldn't find any solutions online and searched all the forums. That makes sense with the stall converter. I was playing with the closed tps table thinking that it could be a fueling issue. Cause it drops down to that rpms only for a few seconds then goes back to normal. Thanks!

      @@Noeysuarez one more question lol. i have my car idling and have eehack open and on the VE tab of the analyze section. its showing me -7% in red at 55kpa at 800 rpm and 100 rpm and -5% in red at 60kpa at 800 and 1000 rpm.. do i just go into my ve tables on tunercats and subtract the 7% and 5% from that section? Thanks!

      @@ns5337 %7 percent on the narrow bands isn't very much, I usually only tune with a wideband because it tells you exactly where you're at on AFR

    Hey dude I just subscribed to your channel. I'm building my 94 Pontiac Trans am LT1. The bottom end I'm keeping stock for now. Till my other 383 stroke is complete. So for this year in 2021 I'll be sending my stock LT1 heads and my stock LT1 intake out to Loyd Elliott for machine work and porting and complete 5angle valve job. I'll be running a comp cam 503 extreme energy Hydraulic roller cam. So I'll be looking into this tuner cat software. My question does it work with my windows 7 laptop?

      I like AEM wideband, you can make it where EEhack will read the AFR or have a gauge, I would do the gauge and just leave it, it tells you a lot about your engine

    Hey I just purchased the cable to tune my 95 pcm, At the moment my car is hitting redline once then shifting from 1st to second. Any ideas on how to solve this? Changing shift command to a lower rpm / different speed? Thank you

      Yes change your shift points so it doesn't rev that high, that seems to be a common issue

    Awesome advice, would you be able to give me some insight on tuning my stock 96 transam using jet dst? Is it similar to this? I know tuner cats was sold to jet so I wasn’t sure, thanks man

      Absolutely, yes it's very similar, but you do have to watch it with JET, if the computer you're using is too new, sometimes when you're flashing, the program will exit and it will brick your PCM, also if your battery is below 11.9 volts while flashing, it will as well force the program to close and it'll brick your PCM, so be sure to have a battery charger or trickle charger hooked up when doing so!

      @@Noeysuarez I just ordered the Moates cable so I am a dummy when it comes to this I can build engines and put shit together but, this stuff gives me a headache lol That said i am trying to learn this old tech.... so what i was trying to say if you are able to edit the video down to segments for dummies like me because having a hard time understanding whats going on for example why you need to different programs to upload files to the tuner cat) had to fast forward and back up many times because there was no edit between uploading different parts of the program also.. if you dont know how to edit maybe make a few smaller videos breaking the process down... are you on Instagram? if so hit me up have a bunch of questions .. instagram: maldo72youtube
