So sad, it killed my bike again - the "February" onwards batch was recommened but I only managed 171KM before it went into limp mode again. I follow the usage instructions to the letter, and to be fair it's been much better behaved (no crashes, speed freezes, reboots etc.) but it didn't take very long for it to be detected by the latest Bosch firmware. I've contacted the manufacturer and my supplier in the UK. I'll post back with updates for those that are interested.
Hello, we are sorry for your bad experience 😞 Bosch is constantly making great efforts to detect tuning in general. Just FYI: we are currently working on a new simplified version. The maximum speed will be slightly lower, but the chip will be as simple as possible.

Hi - I've worked with Speedbox for some time on this, communicating my issues in as much detail as possible each time I have had a problem - they have been extremely helpful and very responsive, to the point that I ran a BETA product for a short time recently - but sadly the manipulation detection issues persist (I'm on my 7th now) with this product running the latest Bosch firmware ... Speedbox have all my data from the last detection and I sincerely hope they managed to find a solution - I'll happily test another product for them and report back if they come up with a fix. I believe they are actively looking into this as we speak.
My bike went to the limp mode after about 150km. I followed all the instructions. I did wait counting process etc. Before installation I deleted flow app and only used speedbox app. My max speed was always set to 35km/h. I have speedbox 1.0 b.tuning chip and it should have the february firmware.
Hi. We are very sorry for that. To prevent detection of tuning, we would also recommend the following: when starting the e-bike, downshift to a lighter gear and do not use Turbo mode right away. If you stop briefly while driving, for example at a red light, keep one foot on the pedal to maintain pressure on the pedal. If the error occurs again in the future, please contact our support. Was your bike connected with the flow app during chip tuning on ride? I suspect that with the statistics in the flow app the route data is analyzed for tuning detection. You can probably also get an error afterwards, so after the ride.

Hi all - I fitted one to my '22 Trek Rail - for the most part it works brilliantly and does what it says on the tin - however I feel it's only fair to warn prospective buyers that you WILL experience frequent controller crashes/reboots and KIOX speed indication freezes amongst several other odd issues. The "Countdown" they mention happens erratically and sometimes even whilst still pedalling causing complete loss of power - distance is recalculated seemingly randomly and appears in chunks here and there - BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY I''m now on my 2nd Speed Manipulation Warning 524001 despite following the guidance of the device to the letter. The bike is now crippled and in LIMP mode again - after the 3rd time I can't reset this myself. I've done 3400KM with this device, it transforms the bike and my fun - I'd still recommend it, but please be aware that IT WILL BE DETECTED at some point!

FYI, in February of this year we updated our firmware which blocks tuning detection and seems resistant to system updates via the Flow App. Our view is that the Smart System is a challenge in itself. There are cases when it behaves unpredictably even without tuning.

Great news that the device is still being developed ... but we have no way to update the firmware and my supplier is just asking me to connect to the flow app and update the bike ... this will of course report the manipulation to Bosch and void my warranty. I'm reluctant to do this but would be keen to trial later firmware in the speedbox. I'm unsure how to go about this?

I've done this, but not yet managed to test - watch this space!
Do you think the system would work flawlessly if you didn't connect to the Bluetooth Flow app and only used an LED remote (No Kiox display)? I think this method should be tried and tested as it seems to be the only logical solution to bypass the detection. Most likely Bosch is detecting via GPS routing on the Flow App.
Hi. This is one possible option, but it has not yet been proven. Some tuning manufacturers recommend driving a maximum of 35 km/h, etc., but no one has yet verified this either. The Smart System is generally complicated in itself and Bosch goes to great lengths to make their e-bikes impossible to tune, so tuning for this motor is a bit of a challenge 🙂

Hello Rafterman. The 524001 error can rarely happens. Sometimes it can be caused by mechanical issues like damaged pin during installation. In any case it is not a system error. It is hardly possible to "provoke" this error on purpose for diagnostics, but we are still looking for ways to eliminate this issue as much as possible.
@@SpeedBoxTuning I'm not hating on your product at all, I knew the risks beforehand. It must be hard to make a product for the smart system that is constantly being updated. I'll provide you with some more information in hopes that I can get it to work in the future and also because I assume data from the 'field' could be valuable to your company. My speedbox 1.0b was delivered to me on the 5th of may, so quite early in the run of this product, I had ordered it a long time ago because I had falsely assumed that I would get my bike within a reasonable timeframe. My bike was then delayed until august 4th because they couldn't get the frames they needed. It worked pretty well for a few days, I commuted to work about 4 or 5 times within problems. Then I went home in what I would consider quite a 'spirited ride,' constantly going about 33-35km/h. During that ride I did notice that my phone wasn't connected to the Kiox 300 but I didn't think much of it, that also happened once before I got the speedbox. After I got home and was in the process of letting the trip timer run, the 524001 popped up before I even got to turn off the bike. That's all I know.

Hello. We are happy that you are satisfied :) Regarding the function of pedalling ("RPM") - these values stand for your revolutions per minute, that is, the cadence of your pedalling. The optimal recreational cadence is approximately 60-80 revolutions per minute, for professional athletes (or competitors) it is even higher - around 90-100 revolutions. When you activate this feature (the oval on the right) and adjust RPM (on the left) for a convenient value, the third value is going to tell you if it is good or you need to pedal more or less (if it doesn't correspond with your set value, then it will turn into red).

After 60kilometers i got error and limp mode... i was in my home, and bike in bike repair stand. I was doing some maintenance and i did a slow pedalling with my arm with bike turned on. I walked in other room and come back and there it was.. error 524001! I love the tuning but how can you recommend a product that can be this easily spotted..

Hi. Activating/deactivating tuning is done by activating the WALK function. If you don't have the WALK function, you can activate/deactivate tuning by switching between two assistance modes twice, i.e. by pressing the + - + - buttons. The SpeedBox 1.0 B.Tuning version can then be paired with the SpeedBox App and activated/deactivated on the phone. We do not recommend using the Flow App at the same time in this case.
I bought the 1.0B and when I installed it (following all the steps indicated in the installation video) when riding the bike for a few meters, it turns off and throws the error 110000, I need a solution, thanks

Thank you for your positive feedback :) For older and simpler models of other brands, the tuning is either only active or only inactive. With Bosch, it must be activated/deactivated. It is also better in terms of security. We wish you many happy kilometers.

Hello. If you don't have "Invisible mode" activated in the SpeedBox App, you can activate/deactivate the tuning using the WALK function or in the app, it doesn't matter. If you have "Invisible mode" activated in the app, you can only activate/deactivate tuning in the app 🙂

Hello. The maximum speed is 50 km/h. We now have a newer version of SpeedBox 1.1 with theoretically unlimited speed. However, we recommend not to exceed an average speed of 35 km/h for both models in order to reduce the risk of tuning detection.
Just installed the speedbox 1.0b to my cube stereo hybrid 160s 2022 smart system and the chip when turned on only goes upto 6.6 and not 9.9kph plus the app looks different
Hello, I have a few questions. I installed my Tuning Module 1.0 b 3-4 days ago. When I turn on the tuning it shows me 10.0 km/h and when I turn it off 2.6km/h is that normal ? Then another question about the bike circumference, I don't know if it has changed or not where I installed it and on google I can't find anything about my bike Cube kathamandu 750. When I turned off the tuning and then ride the km/h display is clearly delayed and I wanted to ask if this is also normal ?
Hello. If the speed is not displayed correctly, we recommend "calibrating" the wheel circumference. Here's how: 1) Go to KIOX display menu, Settings - My eBike - Wheel cicrum. - Adjust - lower the value at least for 10 mm (f.e. from 2360 to 2350) and confirm 2) The calibration lasts for approx 30 sec, menu Settings is not available in that time 3) Got to KIOX menu again: Settings - My eBike - Wheel circum. - Adjust - and return it to the original value (f.e. from 2350 to 2360 again) and confirm. 4) The calibration will be done again that, the tuning indication should be 2.5 and 9.9 5) If even after that the correct values are not displayed, please contact your dealer to replace the "chip".
Hello. It depends on the speed and distance traveled. It is generally a matter of just a few minutes. If you can leave the e-bike on after the end of the ride, you don't need to check the countdown in any special way.
Hi Just to clarify the speedbox 1 for the smart performance bosch, do I get all the functions/ features of the bosch smart app? Or do I have to buy the tuned B 1.0 version and use the speedbox app?
Hello. In the standard version, you will see the same data in the application as on the e-bike display - you can read the speed from the last two digits on the display. If you want to see the real speed, we recommend the B.Tuning version and downloading the SpeedBox App.

@@yabonney If you install tuning, you will not see real data in the Flow app. For example speed 23,8 km/h means real speed 38 km/ h. With Bosch 1.0, we indicate the maximum possible speed, because the Smart system motor is too "smart" and it is difficult to reach a speed above 60 km/h. Which, by the way, is not so easy for any other electric bike :) However, the maximum speed generally depends on the pedaling frequency.
Hallo, ich habe vor wenigen Wochen ihre Speedbox 1.0b erworben. Nun musste mein Cube-Bike zur Inspektion und ich habe sicherheitshalber den Chip rausgebaut. Nachdem ich dies getan habe und ich (dummerweise) das neuste Flow-Update geladen habe, erschien sofort nach erneutem starten (ohne Chip im Bike) die Fehlermeldung 524001. daher bin ich sofort zum fahrradladen, die allerdings nicht mehr in der Lage waren die Fehlermeldung aus dem System zu löschen. Also musste ich 90min. Ohne motorunterstützung fahren und traue mich nun nicht mehr ihren Chip einzubauen. Da mir gesagt worden ist, das der fahrradladen nicht mehr die Fehlermeldung seit neustem in ihrem System rauslöschen könnten, müsste nach dem 3. mal das bike bzw der Motor nach Bosch eingeschickt werden. Dies wäre natürlich fatal für mich, da Bosch selbstverständlich die Fehlermeldung nicht einfach so löschen wird, wenn sie erkennen, dass ich 500km stets mit Chip gefahren bin. Haben sie eine Ratschlag für mich? Selbstverständlich hab ich immer den Countdown usw abgewartet wenn ich das bike ausgemacht habe. Die genaue Fehlermeldung war: 524001: Volle Motorunterstützung kann nach Beseitigung der Manipulation durch 90-minütige Fahrt (im Notlaufbetrieb) wiederhergestellt werden. Nach der dritten Wiederherstellung kann der Notlaufbetrieb nur noch beim Fachhändler aufgehoben werden.„ Nun hab ich Angst, das ein drittes Mal die Fehlermeldung aufkommen kann und ich mein Bine nicht mehr benutzen kann. I went to my dealer and talked about this. He was Able to fix it. He dowloaded a new Bosch update (28/8) and was Able to check a box in his program to tell the software on my bike it has been tuned. Now it turns perfectly fine. As long as i keep newer updates out of my phone app/bike the error Will not come back.

If you are going to update your system anyway, please uninstall SpeedBox first - SpeedBox might hinder the 100% completion of the update. Maximum speed to avoid errors: There is no empirically measured maximum recommended speed, but 38 - 40 km/h may be safe.

In any case 504 is not a system error. It is hardly possible to "provoke" this error on purpose for diagnostics, but we are still looking for ways to eliminate this issue as much as possible. I have it on my Cube kathmandu exc 750 hybrid. Recieved the chip this week and having problems with error 524001. It makes me cycle for 90minutes without support. Nothing more sucks.

@@SpeedBoxTuning hope so have just spoken to a few distributors that claim errors happen in less than 5%of chips or bikes ( it is not always error of chip it can be bike problem too) so now i feel better about it but still think you should upgrade it so less than 1% fails. Cheers .

Hello. For Active Line (Plus), we can recommend SpeedBox 3.0 for Bosch or SpeedBox 1.1 for Bosch (this model is for Smart System). It depends on what kind of display you have. Or it can be verified by the shape of the connectors. Great news that the device is still being developed ... but we have no way to update the firmware and my supplier is just asking me to connect to the flow app and update the bike ... this will of course report the manipulation to Bosch and void my warranty. I'm reluctant to do this but would be keen to trial later firmware in the speedbox. I'm unsure how to go about this?

I've done this, but not yet managed to test - watch this space!
Do you think the system would work flawlessly if you didn't connect to the Bluetooth Flow app and only used an LED remote (No Kiox display)? I think this method should be tried and tested as it seems to be the only logical solution to bypass the detection. Most likely Bosch is detecting via GPS routing on the Flow App.
Hi. This is one possible option, but it has not yet been proven. Some tuning manufacturers recommend driving a maximum of 35 km/h, etc., but no one has yet verified this either. The Smart System is generally complicated in itself and Bosch goes to great lengths to make their e-bikes impossible to tune, so tuning for this motor is a bit of a challenge 🙂
My bike is never connected to GPS yet it still throws the error code after 50 miles or so

Sadly only worked for 100km on the new Riese & Muller Charger 4 before it got the error code 524001, rendering it unusable.

Hello Rafterman. The 524001 error can rarely happens. Sometimes it can be caused by mechanical issues like damaged pin during installation. In any case it is not a system error. It is hardly possible to "provoke" this error on purpose for diagnostics, but we are still looking for ways to eliminate this issue as much as possible.
@@SpeedBoxTuning I'm not hating on your product at all, I knew the risks beforehand. It must be hard to make a product for the smart system that is constantly being updated. I'll provide you with some more information in hopes that I can get it to work in the future and also because I assume data from the 'field' could be valuable to your company. My speedbox 1.0b was delivered to me on the 5th of may, so quite early in the run of this product, I had ordered it a long time ago because I had falsely assumed that I would get my bike within a reasonable timeframe. My bike was then delayed until august 4th because they couldn't get the frames they needed. It worked pretty well for a few days, I commuted to work about 4 or 5 times within problems. Then I went home in what I would consider quite a 'spirited ride,' constantly going about 33-35km/h. During that ride I did notice that my phone wasn't connected to the Kiox 300 but I didn't think much of it, that also happened once before I got the speedbox. After I got home and was in the process of letting the trip timer run, the 524001 popped up before I even got to turn off the bike. That's all I know.

Hello. We are happy that you are satisfied :) Regarding the function of pedalling ("RPM") - these values stand for your revolutions per minute, that is, the cadence of your pedalling. The optimal recreational cadence is approximately 60-80 revolutions per minute, for professional athletes (or competitors) it is even higher - around 90-100 revolutions. When you activate this feature (the oval on the right) and adjust RPM (on the left) for a convenient value, the third value is going to tell you if it is good or you need to pedal more or less (if it doesn't correspond with your set value, then it will turn into red).

After 60kilometers i got error and limp mode... i was in my home, and bike in bike repair stand. I was doing some maintenance and i did a slow pedalling with my arm with bike turned on. I walked in other room and come back and there it was.. error 524001! I love the tuning but how can you recommend a product that can be this easily spotted..

Hi. Activating/deactivating tuning is done by activating the WALK function. If you don't have the WALK function, you can activate/deactivate tuning by switching between two assistance modes twice, i.e. by pressing the + - + - buttons. The SpeedBox 1.0 B.Tuning version can then be paired with the SpeedBox App and activated/deactivated on the phone. We do not recommend using the Flow App at the same time in this case.
I bought the 1.0B and when I installed it (following all the steps indicated in the installation video) when riding the bike for a few meters, it turns off and throws the error 110000, I need a solution, thanks

What is the top speed on speedbox 1.0?

The maximum speed is 50 km/h. We now have a newer version of SpeedBox 1.1 with theoretically unlimited speed. However, we recommend not to exceed an average speed of 35 km/h for both models in order to reduce the risk of tuning detection.

Hello, I have a few questions. I installed my Tuning Module 1.0 b 3-4 days ago. When I turn on the tuning it shows me 10.0 km/h and when I turn it off 2.6km/h is that normal ? If the speed is not displayed correctly, we recommend "calibrating" the wheel circumference. Here's how:
1) Go to KIOX display menu, Settings - My eBike - Wheel cicrum. - Adjust - lower the value at least for 10 mm (f.e. from 2360 to 2350) and confirm
2) The calibration lasts for approx 30 sec, menu Settings is not available in that time
3) Got to KIOX menu again: Settings - My eBike - Wheel circum. - Adjust - and return it to the original value (f.e. from 2350 to 2360 again) and confirm.
4) The calibration will be done again that, the tuning indication should be 2.5 and 9.9
5) If even after that the correct values are not displayed, please contact your dealer to replace the "chip".

Hello. It depends on the speed and distance traveled. It is generally a matter of just a few minutes. If you can leave the e-bike on after the end of the ride, you don't need to check the countdown in any special way.

Hello. In the standard version, you will see the same data in the application as on the e-bike display - you can read the speed from the last two digits on the display. If you want to see the real speed, we recommend the B.Tuning version and downloading the SpeedBox App.

@@yabonney If you install tuning, you will not see real data in the Flow app. For example speed 23,8 km/h means real speed 38 km/ h. With Bosch 1.0, we indicate the maximum possible speed, because the Smart system motor is too "smart" and it is difficult to reach a speed above 60 km/h. Which, by the way, is not so easy for any other electric bike :) However, the maximum speed generally depends on the pedaling frequency.

Hallo, ich habe vor wenigen Wochen ihre Speedbox 1.0b erworben. Nun musste mein Cube-Bike zur Inspektion und ich habe sicherheitshalber den Chip rausgebaut. Nachdem ich dies getan habe und ich (dummerweise) das neuste Flow-Update geladen habe, erschien sofort nach erneutem starten (ohne Chip im Bike) die Fehlermeldung 524001. daher bin ich sofort zum fahrradladen, die allerdings nicht mehr in der Lage waren die Fehlermeldung aus dem System zu löschen. Also musste ich 90min. Ohne motorunterstützung fahren und traue mich nun nicht mehr ihren Chip einzubauen. Da mir gesagt worden ist, das der fahrradladen nicht mehr die Fehlermeldung seit neustem in ihrem System rauslöschen könnten, müsste nach dem 3. mal das bike bzw der Motor nach Bosch eingeschickt werden. Dies wäre natürlich fatal für mich, da Bosch selbstverständlich die Fehlermeldung nicht einfach so löschen wird, wenn sie erkennen, dass ich 500km stets mit Chip gefahren bin. Haben sie eine Ratschlag für mich? Selbstverständlich hab ich immer den Countdown usw abgewartet wenn ich das bike ausgemacht habe.
Die genaue Fehlermeldung war: 524001: Volle Motorunterstützung kann nach Beseitigung der Manipulation durch 90-minütige Fahrt (im Notlaufbetrieb) wiederhergestellt werden. Nach der dritten Wiederherstellung kann der Notlaufbetrieb nur noch beim Fachhändler aufgehoben werden.„

I’am in the same situation after 70km
I went to my dealer and talked about this.
He was Able to fix it. He dowloaded a new Bosch update (28/8) and was Able to check a box in his program to tell the software on my bike it has been tuned.
Now it turns perfectly fine. As long as i keep newer updates out of my phone app/bike the error Will not come back.

If you are going to update your system anyway, please uninstall SpeedBox first - SpeedBox might hinder the 100% completion of the update. Maximum speed to avoid errors: There is no empirically measured maximum recommended speed, but 38 - 40 km/h may be safe.

I have it on my Cube kathmandu exc 750 hybrid. Recieved the chip this week and having problems with error 524001. It makes me cycle for 90minutes without support. Nothing more sucks.
