Hey, I love your guides, but something I think is missing from all of them is a focus on when and how things go wrong, like we know what to do win, but I think it would be helpful to know how we lose, and what sort of game states lead to losses. Cheers and thanks for the great content!
Even if you're not following this on-hit build, it's a good item if the enemy team has champs that can one-shot you with burst. Champs like Veigar, Karthus, Syndra - it's a smart buy.
I'm low elo, so anything works here, but this is how I play on-hit Varus: W max BotRK > Rageblade > Mythic I never tried Q max, but I feel like W max gives about the same amount of damage as Q max. It gives you on-hit damage and more damage on Blight detonation, which is % max health damage. Might be wrong and it's actually not worth to max W if not building AP, but just a personal preference. I'm not high elo, I can have fun and do something just because I want. BotRK rush because it's a good item into everyone, since % health damage is effective on every champion, Rageblade second to get that nice feeling attack speed and additional on-hit procs. Sometimes I skip mythic and go for Wits End if needed or Runaan's if there are too many melee champs.
Also, first item shieldbow is superior than first item botrk because, besides the survivability, since shieldbow have crit chance, it gives you bonus damage for guinso, which botrk doesnt
As a varus main, I'm glad he's getting so much attention right now since worlds, but I also hope he doesn't get nerfed LOL

Arrow is infinitely superior in laning phase. There is no reason to max W if you are not going for AP build imo.
