Reminder: Ult can also proc w. Your full burst damage with auto 3 times then ult combo is surprisely high when you just reach lv6. Against non-tank, you may also build Everfrost for Everfrost>auto>auto>ult combo for more w damage and ult's accurancy. Never use the ult for long range engaging only.

I tried the same ap build with rageblade cuz i was fed and had fun…this champ once get fed is ridiculous insane, i think i would be afraid more of a fed varus than any other adc I swear
AP Varus is easily one of my favorite builds. Had a sion on the enemy team that was just a menace in team fights if I wasn’t there because no one had the damage to hurt him. Queue me walking into lane with a R, wait for 3 blights then, Q and he’s instantly dead at 80% HP. Entire team spam question mark pings me and it was hilarious.
My favorite thing about these videos is that, without fail, there is always one person who out of nowhere says "_______ has always been strong at/in *insert lane/role here*" and just...quietly decided to not share this information until a video pops up. Always happens, and it's always funny to me cause it's always blatantly obvious that they're just trying to be unique.
2 key facts which are missing in this video is, the longer you cannel your W, the more damage you deal with the applied W stacks. NOT only the Q damage itself. Also your fully channeled Q has the same duration as the ultimate takes to apply 3 W stacks. The guy in this video never used it. But that's how you basically one shot anyone with 3 items by using ult, W active + fully charged Q

There is also a mid-varus playstyle but more on scaling since you go manamune then same items as above, but you go first strike as a rune so you can 1 shot tanks even faster with the build
Mid varus is cheese that relies on opponents not being able to setup waves correctly to non-stop kill him every time in any ranged matchup. Top Varus is incredibly strong laner with insane late game. They are not the same

been playing ap varus mid and top for the past week and my main issue with it is while it's very strong and you can get ahead and bully very hard, people flashing or you missing any of your abilities punishes you VERY hard, lots of enemies will just flash your wq or if you're playing up against certain champs like gwen xin elise etc it's very hard to do anything vs those champs until they lose their safety tools. Playing vs ezreal has been extremely annoying as he is super good into varus. Varus can easily 1v2 even early but the hard part about him is being able to actually carry the game out, this is something i struggled with harder as ap even when I was extremely fed compared to the old onhit build for 13.10 and crit build. The build is super safe once you get core though which feels nice but carrying is much harder and precise.
The trick is using one skill at a time. Procking 3 marks gives your skills almost all cd back. R counts too!. Sometimes you can even bait out an engage by failing your q. Then procking r, getting your q back and shooting at it
The answer for immobile but damaging toplaners like Darius is to go flash-exhaust and buy early anathema chains so he wont be 1v1 tanking in ur face while dealing over 9000 damage. It wont help win the game but you will surely survive laning phase with few kills in pocket.
Oh my god yay my friends told me I was trolling going AP varus top but then I proceeded to have a 75% wr across 50 games lmao. Only difference from this guy is I run exhaust. Helps a lot with all-in champs

Not really,in a fight if the tank gets poked for 10-20% ho from other teammates, it will still die. The varus damage will get reduced, but anathema builds of HP, so it will balance out the value.
i played ap varus top a few times, but it just felt gross so i stopped. Take the AP auto attack rations of teemo, the range of cait and add the bonkers 1shotting of ap varus lategame and you get a scary ass champ
Q+W also works when you almost press them at the same time. It's not like that you can choose whether to press W while charging Q, but you can get rid of thinking that 'I must press W before charging Q'. Just press Q and W at the same time and it still applies W.
Oh the game with boots that can be upgraded to anything? like zhonyas, QSS, Banshees veil, GA, and even Xin Zhaos knockback? it's their fault not buying defensive upgrades.
I checked the OP GG and he does get shield bash, I think 2nd set of runes Bone Plating is really needed, but there's nothing else that's immediate damage or defense, so Shield Bash was taken. (it gives 1 - 10 level based on level when you are shielded), probably a sacrifice rune just to survive the early levels. Now that I think about it, the tank runes barely has any immediate tanky runes in the first minute, mostly multipliers of stats you already have like your skills, stats from levels &/or items. No unconditional like +2 armor/mr right from the get go.
Does anyone know how W stacks detonation damage interacts with Riftmaker's vamp ? The wiki says it's proc damage, so does it mean vamp is 100% effective ? The champ can seem incredibly tanky for no reason sometimes.
The thing is, Varus has no mobility, most ppl going for Varus top will get destroyed by a big bruiser with his jungler... And no, varus doesn't deal that much dmg once you get a little bit of mr and lifesteal, his dmg are made to counter hp builds, but going dmg and mr will make you unkillable by his one and only combo, if you survive, you win. The best counter is a all in type of champ with sustain, and obviously, a camp from your jungler, once behind varus is over, so camp him, dive him, make his life a living hell and its like any other adc who's feeding, they can't come back.
one mythic item alternative i suggest is hextech protobelt. It's active is useful for kiting but is also a great tool for making picks. Rift maker is decent but late game the fight is often over before the damage ramp and omnivamp do work

Varus isn't safe at all, that 575 ranged when riven dashes onto u doesn't do anything , that 575 range is same as panth w, u can't cait trap and e someone to escape u can't graplle away like akshan, u can't q and condemn as vayne, you are just there 330 mov speed in melee range so get your facts straight
So the argument was always pta vs hob. I personally like hob better but i might try pta i guess. Altho i feel like hob has more value to quick proc W for an ult or normal burst otherwise esp later on when you can’t really basic attack 3 times in late without hob and without being hard focused by everyone
This player is a booster. He plays varus and draven barrier top. He boosts in NA D1 to Chall all the times. I have seen this guy a lot of times. For example, look at this player 6 days ago on opgg in Challenger NA: gs9 savage. Draven and varus top XD
Its not broken, its balanced but people don't know how to play vs varus, don't know how to build , what to block ,what to pick, how his damage works etc, and when it comes about varus top (as i have over 300 games with him top) its not worth playing it , i have gotten severe anger issues ,depression due to constant toxicity of my teammates and hate from enemies (i mute people as soon as i see ? Or varus top? In champ select, but its not words that are problem its soft or hard inting due to pick). So if u wanna play varus top because u saw this video, expect: Your teammates first timinh their champs for fun bcs u play varus top, your teammates picking ap champs to make harder for u ,your jungler completely ignoring u because u play varus top, getting flamed for everything that goes wrong that game, getting chat restricted (yes you will if u type anything like "take tower" because u get so much spam reports for toxicity and dostruptive behaviour) now onto enemies : getting hate because u play varus (ranged top) even tho they play into counterpick, getting giga camped by enemy jungler due to ranged top issue and no escape, you will be focused constantly in teamfights and everytine u get killed enemies will make sure to drop "disgusting ranged top" but the worst issue is taht when u get ganked for the tenth time under second tower (happens more than you'll imagine) u will be met with "xd, having fun" from YOUR teammates. There's a hidden detail that you don't talk about. AA AA AA E AA procs 4 W stacks if well timed. You need to make sure that the E is fired right before the autoattack. It's not a bug, it's a feature >.
what's missing in these clips is when the 1v2 vs jg/top doesn't work and you're perma getting dove as a ranged top. or if you mess up vs some matchups, you're gonna get rolled.

@@idontlikeyou.7192 that is indeed good spacing. That's a lv1 Renekton vs a ranged top with PTA and Boneplating. You're supposed to go head-on early like that or risk getting rolled over at later levels. Renek stun into gank guarantees death.
what are these runes lmfao? You're not getting overheal proc until 2 items, you're not getting shield bash proc even with it since you have to lose a shield for that rune to do damage again.

AP varus is the only anti tank champion that is so easy to play I love it. Whenever there is a chogath/illaoi/sion etc always pick AP varus.
Level 2-3 gank is mandatory. Repeat before 6 then the lane is over. Volibear does surprisingly well into the matchup

it also procs from barrier usage and overheal which he takes in precision not a crazy amount but its a nice little bit of bonus dmg

Yep, 100% effective, the tanky feel comes more from his hp than anything tho, it's surprising how much hp champs get these days compared to the past

So the argument was always pta vs hob. I personally like hob better but i might try pta i guess. Altho i feel like hob has more value to quick proc W for an ult or normal burst otherwise esp later on when you can’t really basic attack 3 times in late without hob and without being hard focused by everyone

This player is a booster. He plays varus and draven barrier top. He boosts in NA D1 to Chall all the times. I have seen this guy a lot of times. For example, look at this player 6 days ago on opgg in Challenger NA: gs9 savage. Draven and varus top XD
Its not broken, its balanced but people don't know how to play vs varus, don't know how to build , what to block ,what to pick, how his damage works etc, and when it comes about varus top (as i have over 300 games with him top) its not worth playing it , i have gotten severe anger issues ,depression due to constant toxicity of my teammates and hate from enemies (i mute people as soon as i see ? Or varus top? In champ select, but its not words that are problem its soft or hard inting due to pick). So if u wanna play varus top because u saw this video, expect: Your teammates first timinh their champs for fun bcs u play varus top, your teammates picking ap champs to make harder for u ,your jungler completely ignoring u because u play varus top, getting flamed for everything that goes wrong that game, getting chat restricted (yes you will if u type anything like "take tower" because u get so much spam reports for toxicity and dostruptive behaviour) now onto enemies : getting hate because u play varus (ranged top) even tho they play into counterpick, getting giga camped by enemy jungler due to ranged top issue and no escape, you will be focused constantly in teamfights and everytine u get killed enemies will make sure to drop "disgusting ranged top" but the worst issue is taht when u get ganked for the tenth time under second tower (happens more than you'll imagine) u will be met with "xd, having fun" from YOUR teammates. @@TheMrFlashing kled ,yasuo,jax,fiora,aatrox are literally unplayable but almost any champ that can also go early maw , just buy mercs maw and varus won't do anything to u, barrier is way more useless than exaust , u will win irelia,riven matchup bcs of exaust, lethal tempo IS WAY better than pta and i also play master elo on my dia acc sitting on 70% wr in 100 games and the biggest problem are teammates trolling and running down bcs of pick and camp i get bcs im ranged top (basicly u get reported 9 times each match) while im typing this i got into champ select , hovered varus insta reported and someone dodged.
PtA seems bizarre when most fights you'll only get 5-6 autos off. HoB makes way more sense

PtA here is to boost the burst damage, you already get high AS from the passive so it doesn't really matter if you take HoB

what's missing in these clips is when the 1v2 vs jg/top doesn't work and you're perma getting dove as a ranged top. or if you mess up vs some matchups, you're gonna get rolled.

@@idontlikeyou.7192 that is indeed good spacing. That's a lv1 Renekton vs a ranged top with PTA and Boneplating. You're supposed to go head-on early like that or risk getting rolled over at later levels. Renek stun into gank guarantees death.

also with the summoner's spell I find ghost to be a lot better in top lane for kiting and it also translate really well into late game

what are these runes lmfao? You're not getting overheal proc until 2 items, you're not getting shield bash proc even with it since you have to lose a shield for that rune to do damage again.
