    Awesome work.can I please ask are you using staples or nails?
    Are you using grippers on inside?
    Absolutely perfect, not allowed to show it to my Mrs she would want it tomorrow.
    Thank you

      I am using 9/16 staples from a duofast gun in that video no grippers on the Inside but is a good idea! If you need this carpet let me know! We ship worldwide And it’s easier than you think😀😀😀😀😀

    This looks great. I want to do the same thing on my stairs. I just need to find the right carpet that “speaks to me”. I’ve even debated on using rugs and cutting them to fit. I want as low pile as I can get as carpet on stairs always looks crappy over time no matter how often you vacuum.

    • @livens100
      @livens100 Рік тому

      I would suggest Anderson Tuftex. They have a wide range of designs and patterns and the carpet is low pile and built tough to handle high traffic stairs.

    Keith, Doing this project. I am using a runner bound on both edges, centered in the wooden stair. Should I still use the tack strips, like 2" shorter than the 24" runner? Thanks and Happy New Year. 31" walnut treads and risers, 24" runner.

    • @KeithShannonDirectCarpet
      @KeithShannonDirectCarpet  3 роки тому

      Happy New Year😀 you don’t have to use Tack Strips if you don’t want to! It’s up to you! I have many videos with tack strip and without, lately I have been not using and the job has been great! As long as the pad is straight and no more than half an inch away, taking place of the tack strip ! Hope this helps

  • @pocwave445
    @pocwave445 3 роки тому +1

    I should be able to do this with a runner, correct? I am not going edge to edge on walnut stairs, so would use this method with a runner so the walnut riser is exposed. Thanks.

  • @naveendmello485
    @naveendmello485 2 роки тому

    Hi Keith, what is your recommendation? Do we put the risers first or after installing the carpet on the steps? I prefer after, will it be a problem?

    Stunning work! Can I ask, what are the other tools you are using, besides the staple gun? And how have you attached the underlay - glue/tape?

    • @KeithShannonDirectCarpet
      @KeithShannonDirectCarpet  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks😀 underlay is attached with a hammer stapler as far as installation I am using a kicker a tucker a hammer an electric staple gun and a knife😀

      @@KeithShannonDirectCarpet thanks for this, and thanks for being so generous with your knowledge. I’m looking at using carpet tiles so don’t think I’ll need the kicker, just need it to be 100% secure. The other tools finish it off so well - obviously with your skill!

I’ve only completed half the stairs, but your video gave me the confidence to use the electric staple gun, the appropriate number of staples to use, and to adjust it slightly by giving carpet tiles a try! Question. How often you see stairs with just the tops? what's the best carpet for the job? and what kind of nails do I need. I have a stapler gun, just dont know if it is the same staples. Should I have padding in the nose or not?

    • @KeithShannonDirectCarpet
      @KeithShannonDirectCarpet  3 роки тому

      It’s becoming more popular lately! A carpet stapler is best check out some of my other vids on that and the staples as far as pad is concerned yes to wrap the nose as long as you are wrapping tight otherwise can become a loose edge slip factor😄😄😄😄😄

      Great question! And the answer is yes!!! You can glue the tack strips to the steel with construction adhesive! Or glue the pad and carpet directly to the steel😀

    Nice job and thats some cool looking carpet. Don't you wish they made a staple gun that fits under all the steps without having to angle it ? That's the only part I never liked when doing steps. Mistake quote : ripping off the old carpet, pad, and staples was the only part I didn't like. 😆

It's discontinued but, it was handy but not small like the duo- fast and trigger response wasn't quick like duo-fast.I had to talk him into getting a duo- fast after I learned the sears staple gun I started with was a step up from his gun but steps down from the duo- fast.
