I used the same logic about the AR when a family member gave that comment about "manual safety blah blah blah...". He's a cop so he has a duty AR and an AR made from Aero Precision as personal so he was humbled.
It’s just part of your normal manual of arms with a 1911. I always just ride the safety every time I shoot mine. It’s a comfortable way to grip and also ensures that I’ll never try to fire with the safety on.
I have a S&W e series 1911 45 acp. I have 6 different grips that I love changing. When I pick up this gun possibly after 3 or 4 months I get excited holding it in my hand. Its one of the most beautiful guns I have, and I can hit the bulls eye at first shot almost always. I don't know why but its just fantastic. A wonderful gun of all my 14 hand guns. I am proud to own one, it is truly an icon of the American armed forces for several decades. Replaced by the Beretta, then the Sig, but any day of the week I will take the 1911.
Have 2 les baers, 1 Ed brown, and 1 Springfield Ronin. Learned the 1911 as I was going through army officers training in 1980. So I've been a 1911 fan for 42 years. Have owned about 9 1911s throughout my life. From POS AMT Hardballer to Ed Browns. I've worked in a gun shop so I am familiar with glocks and shot enought to a appreciate it.. its an appliance, nothing more. I rotate nightstand duty with my 1911s and a 10 round magazine along with an HK VP9 9mm. I don't feel underguned. 10 rounds of 230 grain +P JHP, will ruin someone's day. The 1911 was designed to be detailed stripped with minimum tools and skill so parts can be replaced. I detail strip it for cleaning and lube after every range session. I feel confident with the 1911 as does LAPD SWAT and SIS, FBI HRT AND SWAT, Delta Force for some 20 years until they shot out their 1911s and went to Glock very recently.
You have some amazing 1911’s there. I do agree 10 rounds of 230 grain +P is more than enough to get the job done! Experience showed you how effective a 1911 is.
Excellent choice and very valid reasons on why it makes sense to carry one. People give me flak all the time for carrying a very old Browning Hi Power, but it just works for me and I shoot it very well. Just because a gun has an older design and tends to be heavier than the polymer pistols that dominate the market doesn't mean it can't be deadly.
EXACTLY! carry what makes you feel secure and what calls your name. People tend to be biased and like to enforce what they carry on someone else. I carry a 1911 and on days when I want to conceal a little better I have a ruger sp101 snub. 5 shot of 357mag power.. oh well I feel adequately armed with both🤷🏻♂️ now if things get real serious I have my daniel defense dd5 in 308 to back me up 😉
S&W 1911 sc e series is most most beautiful and sexy handgun ever. This is my no.1 fav handgun. and as you said about safety, yeah you're absolutely right. Disabling/enabling safety should be 2nd nature for the people who use firearms. Imo every gun should've the safety button wheather it's Handgun or riffle. There's no guarantee if there's no safety button, it can fire by touching anything on the trigger. If they can't make the safety their 2nd nature then they're not fit ro carry firearms
1911’s are the best pistols ever made imo. You can’t beat that single action trigger. I’m more accurate and faster with mine than with anything else I own. Great piece you have there. I’ve never really looked at the S&W 1911’s but I definitely want one now.
There's actually reports by police officers in the '70s, '80s and '90s. That said that the thumb safety actually saved their life while fighting for their firearm, but I can't find and have never heard of any reports by police officers saying that having a thumb safety on their firearm got them killed or got their buddy killed or anything like that. Just purchased mine last week. I wanted the Dan Wesson Specialist but it was on back order. I'm very happy with my purchase. Outstanding review Sir!! Peace and love.
I too was originally searching for a different 1911 and stumbled upon this one. The weapon choses you brother, I have other 1911’s, trust me when I say to hang on to this one. This 1911 punches above its weight class. Its as good as any custom.
I totally get it. I carry a similar Kimber. Sexy is the right word for it. I carried a full size all steel 1911 for over 20 years previously. Excellent analysis my friend!
I like the looks of the S&W sc. I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry 2 and love it. I got rid of my Glocks too. I also compete with 1911s. Can't beat them. Good vid.
WayniacKT Thanks brother, good to hear! Just something special about those 1911’s and the Kimber Ultra carry ii is a beautiful gun would love to shoot one someday. Love the size, and look. Thanks for watching🙏🏼
Love the EMP4! Such a beautiful gun and the range officer Elite is a Beast! Both great choices! I have this one in rotation with my ruger sp101 in 357mag (snubby) all depend on what im wearing. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
This video makes me want to go and hug all my 1911’s ….. Starting with my E Series 1911sc Commander, Black slide… These are fantastic guns for sure👍… Great video dude😬👍🇺🇸….
I carried a Springfield TRP non rail version for a long time, with a GOOD belt and iwb holster, phenomenal gun, then carried a light weight champion operator another GREAT gun., now days it's a p365 or a hell cat.. but I miss the Ol' Springfields
....Dude, Those grips look absolutely awesome on that 1911!!!... I really like the ones that came with it, but I agree having the cut out for the mag release is a good improvement.... Those new ones you put on make it look awesome.... Also, I have the same pistol, but not the stainless slide... I didn’t carry it until one day I decided to take it to a training class along with my regular carry, and I couldn’t believe how great it is to carry!!!... I’m also dead on accurate with it, and totally tore up the class with it.... I did notice some of the looks I was getting for taking a 1911 to a training class haha..... Those looks turned into some great conversations though after we got about halfway through.... Everyone wanted to know what it was, and they were all very surprised at how light it is, and how easy it is to shoot and carry... actually, it made me a better shooter that day for sure 👍👍... I shot around 7-800 rounds that class and the gun ran flawlessly.. I did add a drop of lube on the rails and barrel/ hood after about the first 400 rounds, but other than that I just ran it hard as I would anything else I was testing.... I full share your feelings here, and I would recommend anyone who likes 1911s and wants to carry one to try one of these out.... I will never part with this pistol, and I enjoy it more than most of any other carry pistol I have.... Looks awesome, feels great, is totally reliable, and I am more accurate with it than most any pistol I have today.... Plus for the money, it is hard to beat value wise considering what you get for what you pay when comparing to other manufacturers.... great video and thanks for the content man!!! I would also recommend trying a full size stainless E series.... That is another gem that should not be overlooked....
Love that we share the same excitement for this firearm it is truly something special that most won’t understand unless they spend some time with it. DONT EVER GET RID OF IT. I have newer additions since I have posted this video some pistols double the price of the s&w but this one still impresses me each time I take it to the range. Funny thing is I really wanted the black one but could not find one so settled for the two tone which I also love but that all black is bad ass. Thanks for watching man! I really appreciate the feedback. 🙏🏼
Matthewmajestic 101 Yes, I guess something in us just gravitates towards them. Almost as if we had them in a past life. Thank you so much for watching! 🙏🏼
GG RELOADED I was always into the 1911’s from video games I.E. call of duty but more importantly it’s significance in history and just the iconic look the 1911 has, I’m not to crazy for glocks to be honest and upfront I respect them as gun person, but don’t love them like I love the 1911 or revolvers.
@@matthewmajestic1013 -- I'm with ya. The 1911 thing.. if you have to explain it, they won't understand... and revolvers are sexy as hell. I have polymer 9mm pistols and it's hard to make a rational argument that they not the best choice for a carry gun, but I still carry 'ol' slabsides' a lot.
Yo do you bro, dont let anybody talk you out of what you want to carry, the 1911 has been my favorite handgun since i was a kid, they are extremely safe to carry, accurate and reliable if you buy from a reputable manufacturer like Smith & Wesson, not to mention their fantastic lifetime warranty. Mine just shipped out today, its the all black melonite model, cannot wait to pick it up, its getting assigned to my EDC for sure. Not gonna lie, i def would have gone for the two two if it was available, looks dope, but it was such a good deal i couldnt turn the black down. Been wanting one for years. Stay safe.
Just ordered mind tonight, the all black model, cannot wait to get it. The 1911 has been my fav pistol, probably a nostalgia thing since it was the first handgun i ever saw as a kid, ive owned multiple but sold them because they were cheap and not reliable, i told myself i would save until i could afford the pistol I wanted, that day came tonight and i ordered my E-Series 1911sc. What amazes me is its 28oz, the same weight as my CZ P01, and seeing as how i live in shitty CT and limited to 10rounds i love the option of a 45acp. When i get it in ill leave a comment to confirm that im loving my new EDC as much as you. Great video, Stay safe brother.
Awesome man! Congrats and welcome to the club 💪🏽 Please let me know your thoughts once you have it in hand. It is a beast of a gun, I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
@@ggreloaded5269 picking it up monday bro, im pumped. My Galco summer comfort holster will also be here monday. Never been more excited to pick up a gun and ive owned A LOT of different guns. Ill confirm how much in loving it monday night lol. Stay safe
@@ProjectSerpo90 Aww man how exciting! I bet you are going to have a smile on your face when firing those first few shots! Once you have a quality piece in your hands you will get that 1911 addition. I just picked up a Les Baer Custom yesterday, cant wait to take that to the range along with my Smith😁 keep me posted bro!
Bro, you made a great choice. I am a member of the single stack 45 club too. But, my weapon of choice is a Sig Sauer P220. The reason is the manual of arms is a bit simplified. The gun overall has less moving parts. But, your points are very valid regarding this gun and almost any single stack 1911. I also have a full size 1911 from Remington in Stainless steel. Your weapon is amazing and so is the 1911 platform.
@@ggreloaded5269 no problem. Your advice and reasoning is sound regarding the 1911 and single stack 45 in general. Your concerns about Glocks or other pistols without manual safeties or a grip safety combined with light triggers are correct. My P220 has a heavy initial pull because it is meant to be carried hammer down on loaded chamber. But, the initial pull is very smooth with the SRT trigger. Follow up shots are almost as smooth as a 1911.
I have about 26 handguns in my meager collection of nothing elaborate. 3 1/2 of them are 1911s. No big dollar 1911s but amazingly accurate. I say "1/2" cause I just ordered the latest one and I'm waiting on it. 😁 There's nothing like them. Crazy accurate! I love em! My EDC is the 9mm Springfield 3" Ronin 1911. The others are the Tisas Stingray in 9mm, the Ruger lightweight carry Commander 45 ACP, now waiting on Tisas D10 5" 10mm 1911. All guns are fun to shoot at the range but the 1911s are in another league. You are so right!
Trust me I get it, when I first got it I wasn’t sure about the color but I tell you what man, it grew on me. Now I actually prefer it. Hides scratches really well and when outside it has a nice little shine to it.
I feel you on the hand problems. I've had problems finding pistols and now compacts are hard to find that fit. I still love my 1911 .45 but wearing that on the hip makes people nervous seeing a big gun. I find it a good size that fits my hand perfectly. Ya guns without safeties are ridiculous and ya the whole built in trigger safety is completely dangerous without a physical safety. Besides the 1911 has been made over 100 years now so why would anyone dog on it? Because of the physical safety? The back strap safety? Hell the physical safety doesn't engage until the hammer is back so the gun is designed to have one in the chamber.
Really good points man. I completely agree with you. The people that trash it rarely have ever handled one or even carried one. They let the opinions of others influence them without forming their own opinions from hands on experience. Thanks for watching Big V 💪🏼
Really glad I came across your vid. I just picked up a Kimber Super Carry Pro in 45 acp. Never even fired a 1911 before but I got a steal on this gun and it’s beautiful. Anyway, took it to the range and put 50 rounds through it just to see if I’d like it and every shot was on target. Couldn’t believe the accuracy. I need to shoot it it a lot more before I start carrying it. I have several polymer 9mm and revolvers but I can see this 1911 becoming my EDC in the near future.
Im glad you discovered the wonderful world of 1911’s! Great weapons indeed. Most people won’t understand them till they actually shoot one, it’s almost an unfair advantage:) Thanks for watching 💪🏽
Ive carried 1911s for fifty years or so from colts llama mini max never fired a glock probably never will never had problems when I needed them once they were broke in that sw is sweet
I own 2 1911 pistols & would love to carry them daily. I have tried several times to carry them in a leather OWB holster but the bulk & heaviness of the 1911 is a struggle for me to adjust to.
The SA XD series are not 1911's. Just because they have a grip safety doesn't mean they are. I own XD and I think they are great pistols, but they are definitely not a 1911.
I own several 1911s from.cystom.grade Les Baers and Ed Brown to production Colt Commander and Springfield Armory Ronin. Also have FN FNX .45 and HK VP9. Each rotate for a week as my bedside guardian. When I rotate a 1911 up for duty, I never feel undergunned. I know I have 9-10 rounds of 230 grain +P JHP and that will thump. It's been serving and protecting for 110 years. It will continue to protect and serve.
Why are you not using Wilson Combat mags? I’ve been carrying my Kimber Aegis Custom 1911 for years. Just had the slide re coated. Gun looks brand new. Anyway, the WC mags eliminate malfunctions related to mags. Kimber mags suck. I think a lot of the bad PR Kimber gets are largely from stock mags.
First of all i just want to start off by saying Yo GGi stopped this video at 1:17 word to my Mother i love 1911,s im countinue to watching the video and subscribe to your channel plus the joke in the beginning what funny to Me. i allready hit the like button when i seen the introduction of your1911 GUN... i like i aint mad at cha... I love my two 1911 pistols!! I have the Springfield Armory A1 Mil Spec .45 and Ruger SR1911 .45 I would love to carry the 1911 as my EDC but they do get heavy and require a good solid built leather holster
GG RELOADED After watching your video again, I just realized you have a front night sight. Do you recall the company and the stock number or dimension of that part?
MaxFit 68 its the original trijicon that came with it, I only replaced the rear sight. www.opticsplanet.com/trijicon-sa36-smith-wesson-1911-3-dot-night-sight-set.html?_iv_amp=1
Did that version come wit tha ambi safety? I wanna put one on mine kuz I’m left handed but I can’t find one anywhere.. not even on s&w site or anywhere else..
Nice video I have the E-Series 1911 in the stainless with the original wood grip fishtail or fish scales I love mine but I also have a Glock 19 and I think it's a little smaller than the Smith & Wesson E Series but they're both great guns and I just don't or I can't carry something that big I'm a little heavy I weigh 225 so you might be a skinny guy or not that heavy in your able to wear baggy clothes and uses for carry but it way over size4me butt I could carry it I would they're very dependable great video
Can never go wrong with a 1911. I have the same model and everything. Went with the VZ grips myself. I was wondering what IWB holster have you found you’ve had the best carry with. Thanks.
By the way, what ammo do you carry in it for self defense? My go to for 45 is usually golden saber 185+p but idk if the scandium frame is rated for it.
I use hornady critical defense 185 Grain FTX. Ive shot plenty of +P through mine now that you mention it not sure if I should 😅 I know it definitely could wear your gun faster but I haven’t had any major issues. I would call Smith bro just to make sure.
@@ggreloaded5269 thanks for the reply brother. Usually if i carried a 1911 i ran standard pressure 230gr ball, ive only ever had steel frames. Im sure as long as its not a steady diet of +p it wouldn’t be bad, im sure in the owners manual it will say if its rated for it or not. Luckily 45acp is already a relatively low pressure round. I think I’m gonna go with the Federal HST 185s, cant wait.
Hey Jim, I alternate between 3 firearms for carry. The 1911, a sig p320 rxp and a s&w 442 for when im in need to carry as light as possible. Thank you for watching 🙏🏼
I tell you what man, I been putting in a lot of training with my Glock 19 because I wanted to give red dots a try and I must say I’ve really been enjoying it and have since been carrying it, I do still carry my 1911’s but I need to really just stick to one for carry so I can get proficient with the manual of arms. Ive found my self switching off a none existing safety on my Glock when drawing 😂
@@ggreloaded5269 well, I tried to love the Glock, I owned 5 of them, and I just don’t like them enough to keep. The FN 5.7 FiveseveN is my only polymer firearm I use. I have a Walther SP22 6” but I view that as a retired gun not to be bothered with pistol. I got it for just over 100 dollars because I bought it in a moment of weakness because it was a 500 dollar gun selling for 100; and I won’t dump a lemon onto the market. The M1911-A1 is going to have to go back up as the best carry gun for me. Sometimes in the summer time I might carry my Officers ACP but rarely. I’m just used to carrying a full size pistol. Everyone who is new to guns/pistols that I show it to and let handle it love the thing but are absolutely shocked at how much it weighs. There’s room for Glocks, just I’m set in my ways I suppose. If I wanted to I can carry any one of my browning Hi-Powers or BDM’s. Now that’s an interesting pistol, the Browning BDM. A 9mm that makes even Sig Sauer’s mouth drool.
Thanks man! Honestly, I still carry it. Its in my rotation but I have gotten into red dots lately so I carry a Sig p320 rxp X-Carry with an AXG grip module most of the time. I keep going back to the e-series because no matter how nice the striker fire gun is it will never have that 1911 trigger.
If your Glock trigger is that light it has been messed with. If you carry a Glock it should have the factory trigger. I do like a 1911. It’s the only safety I’m ok with because it really is naturally under your finger. You do need to train with the safety of you’re going to carry it.
6:26 Why do I carry a 1911. Incase you don’t want to hear me talk about the gun for the first 6minutes ;)

This video makes me want to go and hug all my 1911’s ….. Starting with my E Series 1911sc Commander, Black slide… These are fantastic guns for sure👍… Great video dude😬👍🇺🇸….
Thank you brother! Mine are always close by 😌
I carried a Springfield TRP non rail version for a long time, with a GOOD belt and iwb holster, phenomenal gun, then carried a light weight champion operator another GREAT gun., now days it's a p365 or a hell cat.. but I miss the Ol' Springfields
I understand man! I do find my self carrying glocks and I do like my kimber micro 9 evs
....Dude, Those grips look absolutely awesome on that 1911!!!...
Love their style serrations on the slide, beautiful and functional.
Aint no handgun nicer to fire, then a really nice 1911. It does not matter the brand or caliber, if it is a nice 1911, nothing better.
Great review sir!, always had a heart for the 1911’s and revolvers!
Matthewmajestic 101 Same man! That’s exactly how I feel!
I thought I disliked autos completely and only owned revolvers and long guns. Got one sw1911, now I'm about to get this model as my 4th sw1911.
Don’t have a single 1911 but S&Ws are super nice . The bobd tail & early fish scales are great. Thx for showing us
Yo do you bro, dont let anybody talk you out of what you want to carry, the 1911 has been my favorite handgun since i was a kid, they are extremely safe to carry, accurate and reliable if you buy from a reputable manufacturer like Smith & Wesson, not to mention their fantastic lifetime warranty.
Thanks brother! P220 is an amazing pistol, one of my favorites! I appreciate you taking your time to watch the video 🙏🏼
I am a 1911 guy I carry a full size steel 1911 and have been carrying it for years with no problems
I usually don't like the look of two tone on 1911. But those grips make it look much better.
Badass is what it is
Thanks brother 🙏🏼
Very nice!! I’m pick up performance center one tomorrow. Got the same grips in my Amazon cart. 💪🏽💪🏽
Congrats! Got yourself an awesome 1911! Performance Center is top notch!
I've heard the 1911 trigger compared to breaking a glass rod.
Ive carried 1911s for fifty years or so from colts llama mini max never fired a glock probably never will never had problems when I needed them once they were broke in that sw is sweet
1911 all the way! 👏🏼
I own two 1911s (a Tisas and a Charles Daly) and always carry one of the two
Nice 1911, good video. Looking to buy one these. You helped me decide.
Glad to hear! You will not regret it! Its an amazing value and one you will want to keep forever.
Excellent analysis, as well as nicely entertaining. Thank you!
This makes me want a 1911 when i get older
Its a great choice. You won’t regret it. 😁
I catch shit too, and I don’t care. I love my S&W. It is an extremely reliable and shootable weapon.
rsuninv Yes! Most people won’t truly appreciate it unless they own one and see what a great pistol it is.
She's beautiful. God Bless.
Thank you brother 🙏🏼
Carry what you want. Nice weapon.
Exactly! Thank you!🙏🏼
Good looking rock chucker. Im a fan. Only thing better than 1 bad ass 1911 to carry is 2 bad ass 1911s. I think every one else have weak wrist.
I own 2 1911 pistols & would love to carry them daily. I have tried several times to carry them in a leather OWB holster but the bulk & heaviness of the 1911 is a struggle for me to adjust to.
This is a very high quality review 🔥
Thanks brother 🙏🏼
You are full of it too!
Full of what sir?
Reminds me of my EDC. I enjoy carrying a 1911.
Nice!! Bro. I love these 1911's from S&W. I've had my Performance Center for a year now.
🔥🔥🔥 They are beast!
@@ggreloaded5269 Yes! They are. I have several videos with mines also.
I carry a 1911 chambered in 357sig. I dont care what they think. Beautiful 1911 btw
For sure! Love 357sig and magnum 😁Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Love both my 1911s.1st is my SA xdm 5inch.My favorite is my most recent SA Garrison just love the stainless version .Cannot go wrong with a 45!
Nice!! Great Gun Bro. Smith and Wesson my Gun of Choice!!
I see you have Zr1 in your name, so I know you have good taste all around 🙌🏼. Can’t go wrong with S&W

The bltls of birchwood blue & black are good to have around.

I do have some now, great mags!

A file will make wood fit whatever you want.
That's a pretty gun.
Did that version come wit tha ambi safety? I wanna put one on mine kuz I’m left handed but I can’t find one anywhere.. not even on s&w site or anywhere else..
Yes mine came with ambi safety, check on ebay periodically. I’ve seen them on there a few times while browsing for other parts.
Cool mate , what kind of front and rear sight ??
Thanks.
I like the grip change. I need to find one for mine
Lok Grips bro, They got some fire ones. Make sure you get the round butt cut💪🏽
@@ggreloaded5269 you the man, cause i was looking perfect timing
If you practice the safety is cake. I do not carry cocked and locked here in NY State
Nice piece brother
Thanks my man! 🙏🏼
Nice gun!!!!🔥
🚀🚀🚀
Do you still use this as a daily carry? if not what did you move on to? nice video friend.
Hey Jim, I alternate between 3 firearms for carry. The 1911, a sig p320 rxp and a s&w 442 for when im in need to carry as light as possible. Thank you for watching 🙏🏼
This is my 1911. There are many like it, but this one is mine. That's my version anyway.
Wow, all the same points I made when I was in my early 20’s compared to the wondernines of 30 years ago.
@@ggreloaded5269 damn, I typed a whole second paragraph with details but I accidentally deleted it instead of posting it.
Beautiful gun! I have another E version and it’s beautiful also. So, tell the truth,.. still your EDC?
Very nice 👍👍

Did the top of the slide come ribbed from the factory?
Yes it did! The gun is completely stock with the exception of a custom trigger job, rear sights and VZ grips. This 1911 is a great value!

How about and update video???
We're all waiting..
How much is it and does it have night sights?
If your Glock trigger is that light it has been messed with. If you carry a Glock it should have the factory trigger. I do like a 1911. It’s the only safety I’m ok with because it really is naturally under your finger. You do need to train with the safety of you’re going to carry it.
I agree! I do carry a Glock now and is mainly due to capacity. It’s fully stock with just night sights
Why do I carry a 1911? Because I can.
