Thank you very much, Matt! Your opinion is highly appreciated. The variation for heavy gloves is already under development and will be available for the order in a week or two. Cheers, Kvetun
I was just looking at your fb page. If you set up a shop with specific items on fb that would make it easier to navigate vs just looking through photo albums to find and compare. Probably be buying a sabre or rapier next month from you if life and finances allow.
Not only is the product good (which is imperative), but equally importantly, Kvetun pricing is also very good. I'm planning on picking up a rapier from them as well as a sabre.
I don't even do historical fencing (I'm following the channel more for the historical content and the chorizo) and I was tempted to order a saber. What's wrong with me?
You have so many swords, you can accidentally kick them? We need a tour of your house. I'm convinced all your furniture is just made of swords like the the throne from GoT
I'll keep these guys in mind if I ever get into saber, thanks. Red Dragon should make their gloves the tiniest bit smaller, slimmer, and more streamlined so they can fit in these. I have great difficulty to all but exclusion using mine in my HEMA shop nylon basket-hilted broadsword. It locks the weapon firmly in place but I can't fully close my hand on the grip, tho the gloves work on anything else and offer excellent protection. I pinged my light to just now trying sword and gloves out lolz Blued steel is one of my favorite metal colors. My 1911R1 (stock WW2 GI status, carried every day for 3+ years) was blued and it was so damn beautiful. Bu it's inadequate rust protection for CCW EDC required a gunsmith baked on coat of flat blacking.
Matt what do you think of Heilung, the Proto-Germanic historical-ish band? They did a show at Castlefest 2017, it's on UA-cam, and quite frankly I love it. It's based on pre-migration era stuff, which if i'm not mistaken is one of your specialties, so your thoughts would be appreciated. It sounds almost industrial, and the male vocals are really guttural, if you haven't listened to it it's pretty interesting stuff if nothing else.
Given most military sabers don't have symmetrical guards, left side being less protective, does not not make this large symmetrical guard a poor choice for a practice design?
@Scholagladiatoria Please do a video on the sword of the brother of the founder of that great old Anglo-Indian Regiment the Queen's Own Corps of Guides. One of the few regiments of that British Empire that had both infantry and cavalry.
I was thinking of buying a steel Wukusi Armory sabre. Do you have experience with Wukusi? And how do these Kvetun sabres compare to them? What's the best choice here? They both sell for approximately the same price.
Aw man, I'd love to learn sabre fencing. My fingers are pretty messed up due to an accident when I was 15 and I absolutely can't afford to break a finger, which is why I don't dare to try longsword. Unfortunately that's the only option near where I live.
Anyone here have yet a chance to compare the Type 1 "Eastonized" Kvetun to the Castille Trooper w/ 23mm blade? I see the specs are similar. The Castille costs more, has a shorter (32.5" vs 34") and possibly harder blade ("RC 50" vs "RC 47-50"). Weight seems to be about the same... For getting price for now, which would you rather have for HEMA sparring?
Was it run by Norse Vikings? Maybe they raised cattle or horses there. Or it has been really garbled since it was a Norse word. Closest old Norse word would be kveða which means to talk or speak. So, it could be a gathering place, perhaps neutral ground that could be used for parleys.
Heh. That was quite funny... I was in the act of putting on my new Red Dragon gloves when you mentioned them. As they're new; I'm doing: open hand, closed fist, open hand, closed fist, etc to wear them in (or do we wear our hands in? ;))
If you don't have marks in the ceiling, or busted a light in the house, I feel (personally), you haven't really enjoyed your swords, are other weapons. Cheers!
im telling you, sit down with a quality affordable maker and build a custom blade available to the public. alot of us will listen to what you have to say and purchase one
i Should've watched till the end! I hope you do release a sig series saber. Of the time period related fencing you're the easiest to come across for researching equipment, the knowledge you put forth is also very respectable. if a sig series saber is released I have no doubts it will be a respected item.
Great review for what looks like a great product. Going on the Cyrillic, I'd pronounce it something like "kvyeh-tUn". I know it doesn't affect the blade itself, but if you like something, it's nice to know how 'to call it by its right name'.
Thank you very much, Matt! Your opinion is highly appreciated.

Is there any means to view products, contact you or order other than through Facebook?
kvetun.eu@gmail.com via e-mail. We're also working on the site.
We were unaware of such option =(
Matt: "Hello, antique sabre!"
Antique sabre: **in tiny voice** "Hello, Matt!"
FortyTwoBlades I'm imagining this in a voice similar to bob from Bob's burgers.

"My main love is military sabre fencing"
Does Lucy know?
He is also big fan of nuts...

In our batch there was one rapier and I regretted not getting one myself. I will get a rapier from them next time I put an order in.
Mert Gemicioglu be patient, I'll be posting soon enough.

Haha, same. Matt's a hell of a salesman. :P

Imagine them putting a child in gamberson sleeping bags, heavy gloves and only removing the fancing mask for feeding (insert Hetalia fanart)

I was on the fence about this one but no longer I am sold!
Can't wait when the official Kvetun-Easton Gymnasium Sabre is going to be released.
Ah! So you removed some of the hand protection in order to allow you to wear hand protection.... ;-)
With such a big guard a thinner glove would be safe enough, right?
If you ever decide to blue something else, I'd love to see how that works.
FINALLY.
The Battle of the Light fittings has begun!

Nice to see this here in US we have some high end stuff or Hanwei's sabre, nice to have options!

previous sound on start is much better (((((
@Scholagladiatoria Please do a video on the sword of the brother of the founder of that great old Anglo-Indian Regiment the Queen's Own Corps of Guides. One of the few regiments of that British Empire that had both infantry and cavalry.

One day I'll rewatch every video and make a list of all *_"I'll talk about that in a future video"_* things.

"My main love is military sabre fencing..." then later: "I blued my sabre..."
dang, i just realized your about to hit 200k subs
2:22 ...and founder of Stark Industries, originally known as “Stark Blade and Munitions of London”
How is the overall weight compared to a real sabre?
The same - 800g

Incidentally, Kvetun means fenced-in field or corral in Norwegian.
Wow. We never knew it. Our name is the name of the little city that was active and famous in IX century near current Bryanks.
Was it run by Norse Vikings? Maybe they raised cattle or horses there. Or it has been really garbled since it was a Norse word. Closest old Norse word would be kveða which means to talk or speak. So, it could be a gathering place, perhaps neutral ground that could be used for parleys.
Perhaps. The true origins in uncertain, but Scandinavian presence and influence on the area was solid, with no doubt.
Eastonization complete?
Now I know where to go if I want a gymnasium sword
Heh. That was quite funny... I was in the act of putting on my new Red Dragon gloves when you mentioned them.

What are your thoughts on the Winged Hussars & the Siege of Vienna? Also their weapons?
May I guess? Hussars were awesome. About their weapons - it depends on the context. :)
Please more videos on Special regulation sabers

Is this a new intro sound?
Easton sabre 3.0?
I wish Cold Steel would make a polypropilene 1796. It would be the worst gymnasium sword but the best pummeler ever.
What should one use for practicing spadroon?
An ostrich feather duster and a pair of Maryigold yellow rubbery gloves.....of course
Should I be wearing fedora as well?
S Bryant that was the most accurate comment that this channel ever had
Joke withheld, S Bryant won.
Sharpened spaghetti? (Cooked, obviously.)
Can we play Cricket with Red Dragon gloves?
Thanks for making these vedio fan from indian

I like it, I'll buy it, wrap it.....hang on! they are sold out. I'll have to tape the cat on the end of a broom again.. untill we can sort this out.
Don't waste your cat! It's just 1-1,5 month waiting for a sabre!
reminds me of a curved 1908 pattern cavalry sword.
Is this the first video that Matt hits the light with a sword in?
I wonder if even the algorithm will notice this comment
First!

This is maybe the first time in history that a brit and a russian worked together to make something better.
Nikolay Manev well, we had some fun before in coalitions
So then... could we finally see the birth/return of a TRUE Easton sabre?
AHH I hate the new intro sound!
im late
contextually id like to know the proper pronunciation matt for shame
