I promise I have been watching. The comedy is on another level and watching them work together is a pure pleasure. Oh and for a bonus treat, watch Michael McDonald's video for sweet freedom and it only continues to reinforce the fun they were having. When people ask me my favorite movie, I always say Running Scared and once I explain it's not the Paul Walker movie (also R.I.P.), they often have never heard of it. Some of the smoothest chemistry ever. Nothing ever felt forced when they interacted and spoke lines.

The 80’s was such a great decade. Being a kid then was so magical. We had the greatest times without the need of cell phones and social media. I feel sorry for today’s youth.

The reason why this movie is such a standout for those of us old enough to remember it is it basically starts our two heroes out 3 or 4 movies into an imaginary series. Rather than see them meet, hate each other, bicker through a whole movie and gain a grudging respect which eventually becomes friendship in the sequels, we meet these two when they're already as close as brothers, with 16 years of a partnership behind them, and it's them against the world rather than them against each other. It's a great and refreshing twist on "buddy cop" stories and of course Hines and Crystal have fantastic chemistry. You really buy them as partners and friends. Crystal wrote in his autobiography how much he respected Hines and enjoyed working with him on this and how he regretted they never made a sequel. It's a shame, but at least we got this one.

I'm one of the lucky ones! I got to meet Gregory Hines before he passed. Just like he was on screen, charming and sweet. He had an infections smile and attitude. I will never forget him, or his smile. This is the best movies of the 80's out there. It's really difficult to find on Cable. I feel sorry for the younger generation, these are the types of movies they should be watching. Not video games. Quintessential 80s movie in terms of music, vibe, joy. This probably ranks as one of the top ten music montages of all time. Great song by McDonald. This movie overall is an underrated gem. Crystal and Hines have such wonderful, natural chemistry. Perhaps my fave buddy cop film of all time, even above 48 Hours. I would rather have gotten sequels to this film than sequels for Beverly Hills Cop.

My high-school years may have been bittersweet in the 80's, but the movies and music were absolute gold. 'Running Scared being one of them. This was released in 1986, which was the year I graduated. Hines and Crystal were perfectly teamed up in this. The humor was spot on. What's not to love?

I was 15yo when this movie came out. I had never heard of the Florida Keys or Key West. This film was the gateway and the catalyst to my exploration of the Keys! Thank you Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal for turning me on to this wonderful part of the world. Maybe I’ll open a bar in Key West in their honor.
Sweet Freedom was that mid 80s hit I had just to learn how to drive I remember rolling up and down the hills of the city with my nephew and some of his neighborhood friends this girl sat in the front seat and turn the radio on and lo and behold the song was playing and I 19 85 Thunderbird cruising around can't forget those sounds

I worked for MCA when this Movie was made. 1 of my clients was a Retired Captain of a county Police dept. that owned 10 Video stores. I looked up to this older guy. When this movie came out i told him, " I have something that you may like !", I gave him a screening Copy of this Movie. He called me at 11pm that same nite. My Little family was already in bed. 80s movies were timeless..i remember watching this a very long time ago. It brings back memories of my child hood.
I worked for MCA when this Movie was made. 1 of my clients was a Retired Captain of a county Police dept. that owned 10 Video stores. I looked up to this older guy. When this movie came out i told him, " I have something that you may like !", I gave him a screening Copy of this Movie. He called me at 11pm that same nite. My Little family was already in bed. So the Phone started ringing, It startled me. It was Rich, Half tipsy telling about the movie. He was also HYPED over this movie. lol (:0)7
