Yes, it’s the noise of the storm. It’s that gale that we got on Saturday evening - blowing in across our Lough. But I thought I would go ahead with the recording. A storm wind howling in from the Mull of Kintyre would not have stopped men like Brendan and his crew 😊
Your voice-over is just much better - it's an unfortunate mistake a lot of youtubers make, to imagine that they can simply put their face on camera and it will work as well as what they've been doing.
Well it's something I filmed in a rush - spur of the moment 🙂 I wanted to introduce the source and say something about the American President's visit to Ireland - a stream of connected thoughts. Ireland, the Irish and our overseas kin.
@@countOfHenneberg A brilliant recommendation. That’s a great book. It’s on my shelf now! I am taking the Hyperborean/Thule idea from Ancient Times, through to the discoveries of the Irish and Norse in the medieval era.
I wonder if there’s something in the Christian faith that can push men further. The ‘Vinland Sagas’ suggest that the Norse in Iceland and Greenland were the verge of conversion when they made the first voyages to North America.
Hey thanks for the video
Absolutely love your work!
You have such a great talent for storytelling
I could hear in the video, the sound of a distant wind, like a breeze through a closed over door. It added a great atmosphere to your storytelling 🙂
Sounds like power equipment to me, a not-so-distant lawn mower, perhaps.

There is a tale that rings wholly true.
The Voice, YES.

Great upload, how interesting. I wonder which technique for plying hulls was used for Brendan’s ship. I wonder was the island in the Faero islands.
Last I knew they used oxhides. National Geographic did an experiment years ago.
You can read Tim Severin's book on his recreation of the voyage.

Would be that we all had that kind of trust in the Lord

@@drraoulmclaughlin7423 Do we know if some of them were already evangelised?
@@qboxer I don't know. It could be that later writers introduced some of the Christian elements. I will have to do a video on this 🙂
@@drraoulmclaughlin7423 Greatly looking forward to it.
