Pete you are one of the finest bodymen painters out there...Make customers pay you what you are worth for the finish they want. You have to pay for your materials and labor get what it's worth. If they whine.. take your car elsewhere...you're not a kid starting out....tremendous job on that vw that the owner bad mouthed you
Wow. The tuxedo black is sharp, the mirror finish is do to hands of experience. Thanks for sharing you knowledge. Looks stunning. Can't wait to see the vw completed. Minnie your camera work is awesome. God bless. By the way Pete, you seemed so calm, cool and collected.
I sealed up a ‘97 crew cab GMC last night in Speedokote Color Blender/Intercoat clear($90/gal!!!) with Eastwood metal flakes in about 58 degrees and it still flashed off very quickly to my surprise! No runs either, very impressed for the price. Gonna clean it up and clear this afternoon when it warms up again.
Pete, this is a lesson from your experience that goes back to the 6 part series over 10 years ago. This was the two-tone 1941 Willy’s putting flames on using DBC500. So not new to you, but simply experience speaking. Called anything from “Flow-Coat” to “Intermediate Clear” or really a inner-clear! Thanks for the training Pete! Regards, DK. Omaha.
Good morning Pete and Minnie, I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers today🙏 Thanks again for sharing all of your valuable information with us throughout the years. Hopefully someday I can put it to use on my dream car! ✌❤
Hello there Pete and Minnie, incredible results my good lord you are gifted! Thank you a million times over for sharing your talents and teachings. Bless you both.
Thank you, Pete, for all the knowledge you have shared and how to do things the right way. I'm a new subscriber, I've worked on cars as a mechanic for 30 + years but I've always wanted to learn how to do paint/bodywork correctly, I cannot stop watching all you're D.I.Y. videos. Big fan, once again Thank you Sir!
Pete used DBC-500 with my high school Auto Body students when we do our "custom painting" unit on their practice fenders. Very good results too. Kids love doing the design, taping, painting, clear coating.. Might try this on my Camaro even though it is white. Nothing wrong with a deep shiny white paint job. Less expensive than wasting good clear too. Put 5 coats of clear on my 79 Malibu, sanded with 1000, 1500, 3000. Turned out great, but lots of work and more $$. Great video!
That was one shiny bug at the end, been learning from Petes videos now for last couple of years now and belive I'm getting somewhere with paint and body thanks to him, no previous experience but now have the confidence to fix up my own cars, superb knowledge your passing on, thanks
Pete - does Deltron call the product by a different name now? Having a hard time finding it online for sale anywhere. Thank you for your amazing videos and invaluable info
Pete, I am your age or even a little older. Don't even bother with your name sayers. The tips are very helpful for me. I enjoy the information that you offer especially when I get to save time. My project is a 81 cj5. My kids learned to drive in. Highly modified and custom paint which I think has turned out well for me. So keep the info coming you never know who's watching Thanks.
Well my friend Pete … I ended up doing this by making my own mistake thinking I could clear the next weekend … after applying 2 coats of clear … and stopping . I also mixed my first two coats wrong … instead of 2-1 I mixed 1-1 which made resanding a challenge .. but I rectified the situation this weekend and pullled an all nighter and sanded the whole car down again and reapplied 2 more coats of clear to fix the situation
Did you use an inter coat clear or regular urethane clear to coat first? It makes sense to me using the inter coat first, sand and finish with regular urethane clear. It is new to me as I wouldn't think enough tooth was able to hold the final 3 coats. But your nibs are done with no orange peel and plenty of UV left for protection.
When you mentioned about the inner coat clear being used on lowrider cars, it reminded me of the first D.I.Y. video of yours that I watch a few years back. The video was about how to do lowrider patterns. I subscribed to your channel right after watching the video. Little did I know what I was signing up for🤪👍
Hey Pete I wish I would have thought about using DBC of HOK intercoat clear to do this! I always used the urethane clear and had to wait. I started using Matrix clear after I saw your comparison on clears a few years back, I like that it is actually clear... It is so nice and easy to polish a flowcoat paint job, just a lot of work to get there! I always flow coat motorcycles. Awesome job Pete!
Been curious about this and has asked other people questions but nobody really explained it so that I understood. Thanks for this video finally I understand thank you
Hey Pete awesome vid as always. Was wondering what did you use to build your exhaust system in your booth I'm looking to make an improvement to mine and was wondering how you designed yours? Thanks as always Pete
Thank you for sharing your tips. Two questions: 1) any particular brand for the reducer used for the DBC 500; and 2) do you use Prep-All on the WipeAll to clean the sanded DBC 500 for the final top coat clear? Or, do you wipe down the sanded DBC 500 with a dry wipe all. or water on it? Thanks for your time. Ron
My question is when spraying don't you worry about the oversprey getting on the other parts getting the mist on the parts would that mist leave any imperfections on the parts
DAAARRN IT!! I missed this episode and already painted the Bronco. Came out lovely, but I wanted to try this and nobody explains it like you so I was kind of skeptical one the process.. gggrrrr!!! Hi Minnie the Peace keeper❤❤❤❤ Blessings guys😉👍 Keep up the GREAT WORK
Your direct no nonsense explanations and approach has me watching your videos from start to finish. Thankyou for your knowledge and information.
Good one!! Makes perfect sense. You only get this kind of knowledge through many years of experience. Our Friend PETE! BRAVO!

Thanks for watching GFC. What you saw in this video was as complete as it gets here. The customer is finishing it out himself.

Hey Pete awesome vid as always. Was wondering what did you use to build your exhaust system in your booth I'm looking to make an improvement to mine and was wondering how you designed yours? Thanks as always Pete
Thanks for the info Pete. How well will the clear coat stick to 1500 grit? I had clear peal up after 800 grit.
