My Friend Pete screwed up when he paint this car and now he shows us how to fix the problem. It's a very bad situation and an extreme fail but hopefully the paint bubbles will be fixed and re-painted to perfection. It's a situation that nobody wants to get into.

Well ive been out of the bodywork and painting cars for 3 years now.
I see not much has changed.
Lets take a dated very valuable water pump to a muscle car.....bubble wrap it...popcorn styrofoam it and wrap it so tight that the box is lopsided. Only to send it across the country for a rebuild by a someone we really dont know.... lets crack that baby open. Finally get the pump back put it back together and it doesnt work.
Pete knows what hes doing. He is a huge part of the Muscle Car world.
Wishing you and Minnie well God Bless you guys 🙏

That’s a tough spot material builds up where the roof meets the quarter and you get solvent pop the top dries before the bottom has a chance to and it tries to escape. I appreciate somebody that takes the time to get it right a lot of people would just pop those bubbles with the needle and send it down the road, I appreciate the craftsmanship. I spent a lot of time in a body shop attention to details everything. 🐶😎🐶 just came across the channel new subscriber.

No matter how good you are at painting, this can and will happen. Anyone who says they never have issues with this happening to them is either a liar or they are the luckiest person alive and should be buying lottery tickets because they are definitely going to win the jackpot. Back when I used to restore cars, I had it happen to me more than once and I dreaded correcting it every time but it had to be made right.

something that you may find useful pete, water base primer makes for an excellent barrier between the repair layers and he new paint when repairing newer paint, stops the reducer attacking the uncovered layers

I always run my heat gun on any surface i paint first . I just get the surface warm so it cures from the bottom up . If i can get behind the repair area then ill warm it up from behind after painting also . Same when using plastic filler . Its a delicate task not to hot not to cold .

So on a car you took 2 years to finish, you’re going to burn in the clear…I’ve been watching your channel for a few years now and this here is the first hack job I’ve seen you do. Of course it sucks that it happened, and of course it’s going to suck doing it the right way, but you spent 2 years on a car then did a repair that will always be seen no matter how good you are at “burning in” clear and probably won’t last as long as you had the car in your shop. Let that shit cure (you’ve had it for 2 years anyway so what’s a couple more weeks?) then do it the way it needs to be done. You might have to clear the roof and other quarter too but hey, you’ve always stressed doing things the right way…so lead by example like you have for me the last few years. That should be Part 2…

Yes I do -- The customer gets the left over paint that MATCH's his car in the event of anything that needs repainted -- And just for your FIY-- to do an overall -- inside and out -- on a car this size, it takes approx. 1.5 gallons of paint.. There's not much left over. The paint cost is in the OVERALL PAINT AND BODY PRICE ! P.S. -- Obvisously You have never done a FULL RESTORATION -- INSIDE AND OUT -- TOP AND BOTTOM -- If you did then you'd know it takes alot more then "LESS THEN 1 Gallon of paint to do so.. Not saying anything , just saying!

@@diyautoschool lol, ok . Do not say I have not it depends on the mix of paint , if your using enamels or acrylic enamels one you mix with reducer and harders you get almost 2 gallons from one. No if you prime with high build and color block primer. It covers thick and easy anything more the three coats is a waste. Now if your useing more thin of a paint yes. Look I done this for 30 years too. So , before you say , didn't. Do it all , you are miss took what I ask. Dam man.
