the hack that got me to drop in on everything is to touch my front knee with my front hand ALL the time. this ensures the weight is at the right place and keeps me from "standing up" every time I try to drop in on a new unfamiliar ramp (recently a bowl), i just employ that trick.
Similar. I always touch the nose with my fingertips and pretend I have a 6” long golden thread tying my finger to my nose. Don’t want to break the thread. If I keep my hand close, my shoulder is down, my hips are bent, knees bent and you cut the drop distance by 2’.
If I had the chance to work for a skateboard ramp company that was owned and operated by a skateboarder there’d be blood sweat and tears going into every project. What a blessing that would be.
@@Dale424 Its whatever you want to think the figure of speech can mean. You might have the mindset laugh at this. I’m unable to work or do much else. Brain cancer is robbing me of basic life. Can barely roll around on a board nowadays. Thanks have a great day.
Something else to keep in mind is that you can’t learn this before you’re familiar with slanted ramps like these. If you can find a sort of half-pipe to practice rolling up and down both directions on it’ll help you learn how to shift your weight with the curve of the ramp
How do you get over the fear of having a few inches of vert on the ramp. I have no issues with curved quarter pipes, but the second I see there is an inch of vert I start to panic and can't drop in
i droppped in on a pool with a bit of vert without knowing it. once you are really dropping in (wheels touching) you are already past the vert. it feels more like a tiny bit of falling than everything else. its more like dropping in on a smalleer steeper ramp.

the tip that helped me the most when I learned is you want your body to be a bit inside the ramp before you slam your front foot down
