In the Battle for the Imperial City (I think it was called Battle of the red ring) the legion who attacked from the North was indeed a mainly Nordic army

Skyrim's Nords are a shadow of their former selves. Believing in Elven Gods known as the Eight, Choosing Talos to remain with the Elven Gods, and abandoning the Old Teachings. I'm pissed off that this wasn't the idea for the civil war.
Nice video, The nords were part of the great war they were part of the emperors main army to retake the imperial city. Its stated in both the book the great war and elder scrolls legends story
The Nords did participate in the Great War. Ulfric Stormcloak was captured by the Thalmor during one of the battles. It's in the dossier that Elenwen keeps on him.
To be honest, I liked the Skaal much more than the regular nords. They had a much more interesting culture and had much more depth to them. To me, the Skaal were as all nords should've been.
Originally, the Nords were much more like those on Solstheim. Instead of being generic humans with essentially the same culture as the Imperials, they ruled from mead halls and were much more barbaric with a culture much more similar to Thirsk in the Bloodmoon expansion. Then we got...this.
The nords (pre Skyrim) did have a dope culture, and WAY more character. They worship Shor, creator of Sovngard and father of man, his wife Kyne (Kynereth to the rest of Tamriel) who gave man the gift of the Thu'um, HATE Akatohs the father of dragons, and belived that Tiber Septim had become one with Shor when he became Talos. All the Jarls where War Lords, every person was basically trained to fight or die from childhood, and werebears and werewolves were common place and cities had defences built specifically for them (Not to mention the cities weren't crumbling like Whiterun and Windhelm). Instead, Todd Howard turned them into taller Imperials.
@@dawhandaonli5925 You and Anon both misunderstand Skyrim then. The Nords of Skyrim weren’t Imperialized out of laziness but for the narrative they wanted to create. Skyrim as portrayed in the game is not a land of tribal warrior berserkers, it’s a land that USED to have tribal warrior berserkers in an ancient and distant era, and struggles with that past. The Civil War in Skyrim is essentially the whole country having an identity crisis and trying to decide whether they should return to their ancient roots or not Portraying the Nords as the warriors they’re “supposed to be” is fun at first but ultimately it’ll just feel like Oblivion but with Vikings instead of medieval fantasy. Part of why Morrowind was so interesting was because it also dealt with a clash of ancient Dunmer vs modern Imperial culture. Just because something has medieval fantasy in it doesn’t make it boring unless you don’t look deeply enough
It's really a shame that Bethesda threw out all the culture and religion they had developed for the Nords over the previous games for the 9 divines of the Imperial Cult.
Way late for this but they didn't really. Mara, Kyne, and Dibella were always worshipped by Nords and have temples in the major cities. Parthunax took Kyne's place atop the Throat of the World, but mentions he met with Kyne, also he's Parthunax and he's awesome anyways. Tsun and Shor are performing their duties in Sovengarde accurately, as well as Alduin though his role is more complicated. Before Skyrim, worship of Jhunal faded regardless. Herma Mora is in the dlc, and Talos is of course prevalent. That leaves I think Stuhn and Orkey. Stuhn is more prophet than god but maybe could've used a couple mentions. Orkey is thought to be Arkay and a bad god, but is worshipped in Falkreath which is a former Cyrodilic county regardless. Still, I would say Orkey is the only god who is not properly utilized. That name doesn't come up once in Skyrim I don't think, yet he is supposed to be a very important god.
Shouldnt the final joke be "It sure will be a HOT day in Skyrim, if the Nords are no longer living there" ? Like the saying, Cold day in Hell beeing something impossible or very hard to happen, much like a Hot day in Skyrim
Well, that's true, but in Windhelm, niranye is respected by the Nords, and she says how she is respected because she understands how things are in windhelm
Victor I'm sorry to say this, but the Nords after Skyrim are in no shape to fight. They're going to be exhausted by the civil war, with almost no experienced warriors left (the Empire and Stormcloaks are already scraping the bottom by conscripting whoever they can), regardless of who wins (the Empire or Stormcloaks) their economy will be in shambles and there are still dragons left roaming the province even with Alduin defeated. Even with the Hammerfell, Skyrim has little chances of winning. It needs to either ally itself to the Empire (if under Ulfric, otherwise we all know they'll join the war as part of the Empire) or find a way to convince Morrowind to help them. And mind you, Morrowind while as stable and as friendly to the Nords as ever (the Nords helped them after the Red Year and Accession War quite a lot) it is still weakened, 200 years after the Oblivion Crisis, Red Year and Argonian invasion. If Empire, Redguards and Skyrim joined forces they might win. If Morrowind was to join them, the win is almost guaranteed imho. And if you think the Dunmers won't help men... Altmers and Dunmers dislike eachother quite a lot.
I have to disagree. The Stormcloaks will take anyone that is willing to die for Skyrim, even Altmer. Not all Altmer are Thalmor. In fact, many of the younger Altmer, who aren't allowed to leave the Summerset Isles, disagree with pretty much everything the Thalmor stand for.
That doesn't mean they'll travel to Skyrim to join the Stormcloaks. Altmers, even those that are against Thalmor are usualy still racists. It's rare for an Altmer not to consider him/herself above other races, including other mer, especialy Dunmer and Orcs. So while they may be enemies of the Thalmor that in no way makes them allies of men. If anything, Bosmer and Dunmer would be more of actual allies to them. Then again, if you played Skyrim as a Mer, you'll notice how much animosity there is towards you when you first enter Windhelm. The guards even threaten you that if you do anything stupid, they'll just break your neck. I'd presume that even someone willing to help them would very quickly lose interest in doing that and would just leave after being mistreated by Stormcloak soldiers one every step, even if Ulfric was going to be nice, which I don't think would happen either. Just look at the Gray Quarter. This in long term excludes them taking in large numbers of non-humans in. Add to this that many non-Nordic humans are constantly harrassed by them and we'll have a problem. Arcadia, the alchemist from Whiterun is an example. If you help the Stormcloaks in their attack on Whiterun, she will complain that she almost went out of business because she not only is harassed by their garrison, but they don't even trust her enough to buy potions from her and claim she'll poison them. I'd presume same would go for Redguards (who technically don't share any ancestry with Tamrielic humans at all) and Breton (who often end up as trained Mages and as we know Nords don't trust anyone who can perform magic). So if anything, Stormcloak may indeed take in a large variety of people in, but their general mistreatment of other people, even those living in Skyrim for decades, is going to either drive those potential allies away. I doubt any self respecting Mer would join the Stormcloaks unless they've seen some way to gain something in it. Most humans are going to just say "Fuck these guys" as well, simply because they're afraid of being driven away from their homes. Even if that would not be the case, the fear is still there. I personally have two characters which I roleplay with. Both Dunmer. Both support the notion of Independent Skyrim, but only one actually fights for the Stormcloaks, because of their obvious disregard and even hostility towards other races. It's the younger and more naive one that fights for them.

Azizai _ No not really, When the Atmorans came their were already humans in Cyrodiil called Nedes, which are the ancestors of the Imperials. But some Imperials do have nordic blood from breeding with Atmorans and Nords.
Antoine Landreth Skyrim could easily win a defensive war IMO. All the mountains and valleys make for great choke point. Empires Army > Skyrims, but guerrilla warfare is the equalizer
Svitlo37 Yes but don't forget there are nords in the Empire like Rikke and Balgruuf. The Stormcloaks also have the Thalmor looming over them. Ulfric was captured once and Ulfric is extremely prideful so there is a chance he'll mess up again. And he could be figured out as a man not fighting for free worship but a man who just wants to be high king. That could make some of his soldiers defect. (That part was self theory that he's not fighting for Talos) And Since Skyrim became Empire property, the Legion could've studied the terrains and the Nord soldiers employed could've taught them ways of survival and combat when fighting in the mountains. Stormcloaks could fight alot better in the mountains since it's their homeland and know multiple ways to fight in it but when it comes to strategies and influence of Other races teaching them, Empire has a higher chances of winning.
Antoine Landreth Overall, I agree with you. I just think that you underestimate the mitigating factors that at this time in history give skyrim the advantage. I kind of see it as comparable to the Russian (or US to a lesser extent) occupation of Afghanistan. Similar in geography, if not climate. And also simular with tribal rule (warlords=yarls) so you don't just have one centralized army to defeat, but an entire array of separate independently functioning armies that boost eachoter... but are fully capable of fighting independently if others fall, or regrouping and reforming all over skyrim. There is a fluidity and adaptability the the Empire just isn't capable of. Also, the financial disadvantage of maintaining an occupying army right after losing a major war and having to make payments to a foreign power? All things considered, my money is on Skyrim. The Empire is capable of defeating them... but not with the Aldmari Dominion looming over their heads. And even if the Empire falls and Skye in has to fight the elves alone... fort wars from dwarves ruins. Skyrim is one giant fortification.
I love how people whitewash the fact that the Nords are extremely racist toward the Dunmer, Argonians, and Khajit. Ulfric forces the Dunmer into a decaying slum and the Argonians are not even allowed to live within Windhelm's walls. The Thalmor are awful but the Stormcloaks are not much better. Dunmer, Argonians, and Khajit will face discrimination and marginalization no matter who controls Skyrim.
So is the fate of those races nearly everywhere outside their homeland, the argonians ans khajit especially, dunmer are far worse havinf enslaved the argonians, the thalmor want human genocide
ChaoticEvilCanary Dunmer enslaved the Argonians for a long time and some still do, oh and they worship the Daedra and Morrowind is not a vary accepting place either, Argonians are pro Dark Brotherhood they worship the Hiss and their master is Sithis, not to mention they were openly hostile to anyone who they encountered long ago, and they may have been responsible for that flu that killed all non Argonians/ Hiss in Black Marsh. I would say they are two of the most arguably evil/dark races
And how many dark elves in Windhelm bother to try and prove themselves? That I have seen; one or two. One Dunmer says the best way to earn the Nords respect is through hard work. Most in that quarter just complain. The High Elf earned her place in the city and says the Dark Elves are too proud to see how things work. Yes. Ulfric could do more but with the attitude most Dark Elves in Windhelm have, heck if I'd be too worried about them with all the other things needing attention. As for the Argonians. No difference if the Empire takes the city. I do not agree with everything Ulfric says but at the end of the day. I think he would be best for Skyrim. Just listen to Elisif having conversations with others in the Blue Palace sometimes. Like with her idea for a parade... I think it is kind of bad she is even a Jarl at times. As for the Khajit. They get treated that way by most Nords, and are not allowed in any city in Skyrim.
Nords of Skyrim (as of now, not the old Atmorans) are a bad joke. Remember how they where trampled and cut like butter by akaviri warriors running through Skyrim and making her their bitch? Nords are practically useless as a race, lore wise...they are decent warriors but nowhere near the Redguard (the most talented warriors of Tamriel lore wise). Only Dunmer can match Redguard skill with a sword. Even Orcs, who where stupid barbaric beasts for too long to be taken seriously still better make barbarians than Nords. Want a battle mage? Absolute best bet is Altmer, Dunmer and Breton after them...assassin, thief, nightblade? Dunmer, Khajiit, Argonian...monk? Khajiiit rules. So, where does the overrated Nord power lie in all of this? In my opinion (as a faction, not the race), Imperials are the best warriors because of immense logistical and tactical supremacy. Nords are just a bunch of backwater country bumpkins...master race? Altmer! Butt hurt Nord fanboys reply countdown stars in 3..2...1...

skyrim is dope i just hope they put in the heart that went into oblivions missions on the next ES as they were lacking in the fact it became very predictable where as oblivion was pure magic from start to finish/ three best gaming series are easily Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and GTA every game in the series is worth the play which is a feat on its own with craptastic titles like dynasty warriors 38 that still making its way out in series that should have ended awhile ago lets pray that the next one is a banger, cant wait for whats instore for fallout 76
Ulfric Stormcloak did nothing wrong
1. He murdered High King Torygg.
2. He started a rebellion at a time the Empire should stand united against the High Elves.
3. Stormcloaks are huuuuge pussies.
@@PhaenyBirb
1. In a fair one to one combat, proving that the Nords are the rightful rules of Skyrim not elves. If he were to lose, he will be murdered instead.
2. And yet I only see Stormcloaks that oppose the elves whilst the empire is suck elves cock.
3. Very subjective. But surrendering to enemies and trade your dignity does not sound good.
At no point did empire state they want to overthrow the elves, they are content being made slaves by their elven masters.
@@PhaenyBirb 1: he challenged him and toryyg lost, he wasn't a true king, a king would have been able to defend himself. Also there's no true king unless he comes from the Nordic people, not from hand selection of the emperor who also is a thalmor tool
2: The empire were already under aldmeri control there's a thalmor embassy for crying out loud
3: yeah, says the imperial that bends over for thalmor justiciars
@@borrburison648 Ulfric just wanted to be High King of Skyrim.
You slaughtered the history....
Great video
I know this is late but we do know that it’s cannon that the stormcloaks win

I kind of like the Nords from Skyrim fun playable race
Jackie Santos I agree, I just made a comment saying how much I hate the nords of Skyrim but like that doesn’t include the people who play as nords because most of them are way more honorable than the old nords ever could have been. My friends even play as nords in elder scrolls games to try and show that good nords can exist.
What do you mean they did not participate in the war... Probably like 30% of the Imperial Legion were Nords at that time.
It literally would be a cold day in Skyrim because there would be less heat producing mammals.
Hey, can you do your intro monotone, but not like low voice monotone, but like, "I don't know how to voice act" monotone. That'd be great!
"Skyrim belongs too the Nords!"
Hi TES!
Yo dude.. why did you stop making elder scrolls lore. It is by far the most rich in content fantasy. Please make more videos
I’m surprised the nords didint breed or enslave the snow elves.
Skyrim belongs to the Nords
t. Breivik
noturboy91 hail ufric the king of Skyrim
Do some videos on game of thrones lore
Your default picture of the Nords is of the Skaal who live on Solstheim not in Skyrim and that bothers me.
I like your videos but there is some much awkward silence. Ever considered a light background music?
I used to be adventurer like you, Then I took an arrow to the knee.
BOB MARINE how’d you get that joke out of the museum?
AHAHA........AHAHAHA.....AAAAAAHAHAHAHA......HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....HAAAAAAAHHHAAAAAAHAHAHAAA.....HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......hmmmmmm what was it?....I REMEMBER THE JOKE AGAIN....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

"Have you seen those warriors from Hammerfell? They have curved swords. Curved. Swords."
BOB MARINE We wont go quiet theLegion can count on that.

Just make a simple comparison. Compare Nords from Morrowind and Nords from Skyrim...not much more to say...
I swear this is a reupload, seems really familiar.
Are imperial and nords the same race but just different types people like blacks and whites?
Azizai _ I don’t think you understand the word race bruh
Azizai _ No not really, When the Atmorans came their were already humans in Cyrodiil called Nedes, which are the ancestors of the Imperials. But some Imperials do have nordic blood from breeding with Atmorans and Nords.
No mention of Ulfric Stormcloak? The Thalmor's greatest asset to destroying the Empire? :P
Witcher 3 plzzzzzz
My people. 8)
Fight, or die well.
I think the Empire will win the war due to the Empire having aid from mer races
Master chief can still kill them so yeee
*"Vikings"* is not a real world ethnicity. It is a job.
The Nords must learn to accept diversity, otherwise Skyrim will not survive!
ChaoticEvilCanary And your point is?
All of the races are racist in some way shape or form
Nords master race. WE WUZ IMPERIALS
Skyrim belongs to the birds not you lefty legionaires
Wait the nords didn't fight in the war? Well then they have no right to complain about it's outcome then do they
The Spiral Theu did though. Several nords talk about the war.
I would I said "Naive, Bigoted, Morons" as the introduction to the Nords but hey we all have our own opinions I guess.
Exept the 'Naive' part , you are talking about the Altmer.
By lying about Skyrim's involvement I the great war, you take away your own credibility. Why should I listen to the rest of what you say?
God damn
The lamest race in The Elder Scrolls
WillWhiskey I believe the Bosmer hold that title.
First Name Last Name Orcs*
Overrated af because of Skyrim
