This a cover on the new George McAnthony CD where Brent Mason was throwing in his tele on most of the tracks. Highly recomendable for Chicken Picker to hear.
I wish this just kept on going. Crazy fun to play along with. I don't try to learn these licks note for note but they inspire me to come up with my own version.
The only thing more mind-blowing than this relentless string of pedal-steel emulations, and perfectly placed dirty 3rd’s in this overall rollercoaster of jaw-dropping creativity, is the fact that 36 people actually put forth the effort to give this a “thumbs down”... Seriously... Wow. I understand that every form of art is subjective; and with music, personal preference dictates what you throw in your stereo, and what you don’t. That’s just fine. But this ain’t a matter of personal preference... and it ain’t talent either. This is an undeniable SKILL. It’s the result of dedication, education, and years of grueling WORK. The genre of music he’s playing is irrelevant at this level... The only thing that can be labeled “good” or “bad” here is his technique/execution, and after watching this 17 times in a row, I can assure you, the amount of command this dude’s got over those 6 strings is unbelievable! I dunno about everyone else, but I caught at least 10 “holy shit, did he just do that?!?” moments in this video. Well done, sir. Well. Done.
This is the man who I will learn from to take me where I want to be which is the next level. He is the best, the one I've been searching for,its so clean and crisp and powerful, Brent Mason ,wow, shazam, put that chill up my spine he's so good! Happy New Year and thank you for allowing me to find this!
Its amazing how I'm starting to settle down trying follow you,I practice for hours then leave it for a week, come back to it . Tonight I almost made it to the end with many mistakes but its really happening. You are the best! Thanks
I love the growl of your tele sound and your playing style is spot on, most definitely you pulled out the closest chickin picker in me and I really enjoyed your backing tracks,.Lookin forward to your video's in the future .
Thank you so much for these excellent clips. I am delighted by your: musicality tone clean and clear recordings sense of humor (I was a studio producer/engineer in the early '90s. I'm a huge fan of country/blues/swing guitar.) Mac
I have just bee schooled. Sir , You have educated me , I have seen the light. no more will I ever just jazz or swamp , I will classic country from now on.
I cranked em up a whole step, I'm with ya now, good god I'm having fun now,I was almost ready to lay my guitar in front of the truck tires and be done with it. Sincerely, your student! lol
Real country. I've been listening to quite a lot of it lately and country folks are very skillful. You have to be accurate on a guitar like this and you are. I listen to dudes like Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley and of course Tim McGraw. Taylor Swift made a song with his name which went viral. After that she put out song after song, only using open chords G-C-D-Em and all of them give $1.000.000 a piece. Quite an astonishing achievement. And of course I watched Brent Mason with vince Gill, unbelievably awesome.
Nah, nah, when I wrote that the compression was 'tight,' I meant that it was 'compressing nicely.' I was trying to figure out if you had simply mic'ed your live rig (it sounded very natural like you had) or had some sort of digital direct modeling set up. No - it was well done, like we would try to get in a studio. But technology aside, your playing is what made this clip work so well.
Please keep steering Laura in the direction of the unbelievable country picking you make look so easy and sound so so superb! I love yours and her right handed techniques. Thank you so much for posting the incredible sounds you do. P.S. who's the slide player in Laura's country jam. That cat is awesome too!
Love Brent Mason and really enjoy this video. I downloaded the backing track and with a little elbow grease could figure out the notation. Tabs would help out a lot. Are the tabs available? Keep up the good work I enjoy what you do.
You have the best tone in this recording setting of anyone I have heard anywhere on youtube. Would love to know what you are doing to get that recorded sound. excellent.
Thanks a lot Keith. Each tele-player has his sound with string brand, Pick, Fingernails and so on. Your sound is just as good as mine..even if it's different. Best advice: Dont try to get a sound...just play the heck outta your guitar and NeXT stop is having a sound that is YOURS :-)
@@lambadalasse first of all you have to play your guitar unplugged for a couple of weeks...get the tone playin' unplugged...after two weeks you start to play it through an amp with no fx at all, not even reverb....and after a few weeks you can start to add gain and maybe some reverb or delay...and your tone will come to you by itself....that's my way, it works really fine on me....you have to know your guitar the deepest, from unplugged....
I'm working on improving some of my country playing as well. It's all about the chords. You have to know the chord progression you're playing over and make sure you're outlining them as you play lead. Once you start thinking like that you're well on your way. Good luck!
Excellent - I can can always go to other places to get Jazz and alligators (and dare I say "new country"). Nice to see someone who is pure country. I love it! - is this a "demonstration" site, an instruction site or what? The link doesn't go anywhere. I want more what ever it is.
this is INSANE and tasteful guitar playing, sir! I have been playing for 30 yrs. I cannot even begin to think about playing this well. F-ing fantastic. Can you please break this down in a "tell all" video? That... would be the best. Or perhaps you have website with online guitar instruction. I want your play by play in slow mo!
man i use logic and i have the tc impact. im trying to record vocals into logic and i cant do it. i can do it on garageband but it wouldnt find the interface in logic. i dont see it lsited anywhere. i can hear my self in the mix from the moniter but i cant actualy record onto logic.
Sounds excellent. What are you playing through - direct into computer or live amp? Sounds like some very tight compression. Really nice. You should teach it to us...
Thanks. Pedal are -> Boss CS-2 -> Boss delay -> DR Z Mas Jr. The rest is fitted into track from Cubase. That's basically it. But if another guy plays my tele in that setup it's a different sound. Reason: His pick + nails + how deep he plucks the string + resonance of his body...haha...last may be left out. Cheers
the answer to that took me years and never really found the best setting. What i found out was that doing recording I tend to keep MID low and visually have an EQ curve looking like a smiley. At gigs the MID should be maxxed out. I cant remember on this vid what it was but i am sure it did as above.
@@lambadalasse I need a clear learning path from basic to advanced. Would you recommend me any books? I really need it. I want to play country music and don't know where to start
Tasteful tone and playing. Just awesome.
You are a real bro for sharing these backing tracks. Thanks, and great playing as always.
I LOVE THIS!!! I'm a bass player in a jazz band that happens to love COUNTRY. Beautiful tone and playing.
I love watching this awesome vid. Great tone and killer playing.

Tasty!
When Leo was designing the Tele God was looking over his shoulder to make sure he got it right.

Kkk, great country sounds
Is there tab for this track?
Its very good
Fanstactic tone! What gear was used in this video?
that was great. How do you get that great tone? What effects? Processor? Amp? etc

May I know your amp setting? What is the most ideal amp setting to play country blues?
the answer to that took me years and never really found the best setting. What i found out was that doing recording I tend to keep MID low and visually have an EQ curve looking like a smiley. At gigs the MID should be maxxed out. I cant remember on this vid what it was but i am sure it did as above.
Thank you. Will try that setting out.
so great! String gauges?????
Thanks. Elixir Nanoweb 09|46
Great playing! Have you tabbed any of your jams?
thanks. Some of them. If you look in the description under each video there is a link to a share.
i want play that type of music. what should i do? what book is good
for newbie
