I have never seen so many Telecasters in one place !
Uh...there not in the same place. This is a compilation vid.
@@kcb5336 you don’t get it do you...
Gotta love a Tele.
@@kcb5336 I've heard it referred to as the "Hammer of the Honkey Tonk Gods"
i got 4 telecasters....i had three but i bought a thinline two weaks ago.....my tele's are my gods and my twin reverb my sanctuary....
Love that Glen Campbell calls out to himself ‘play it Glen” 😂
No great picker list is ever complete without Jerry Reed. So glad to see him in this one.
Chet Atkins is not in the list
Or Carl Perkins. Roy Clark. Chuck berry.
Oh Yeah Jerry No Question ☺☺😎👊💯
Redd Voelkart is a hidden gem of a guitarist.
Not so hidden, a bit more than normal since Merle passed.
Redd is smokin'! My old steel player knows him and played with him. Funny as hell too!
Saw him play in Austin once with Cindy Cashdollar on steel. Redd's musical prowess is so refined, and his ear is so astute, he can run circles around every other picker. It's amazing what he can do with his mitts.
My brother got chance to meet him and got a guitar lesson from him in Green Bay years back. He said he was one hell of a nice- humble man and was an absolute monster on the guitar.
Phenomenal
Glen Campbell. The general public doesn’t known how good he really was.
The general public likely doesn’t know a single player from the entire video.
And he couldn’t read a note
He seemed the sloppiest of all the players in this video
Damn man mosta time general public don't even know what day it is. Haha whatchu on about.
@@TonyToledo22 You missed Brad Paisley. I don't mind some BP ... but the video here was slopptastic.
It's a fine line between a good player and someone who just throws off a whole bunch of notes, quickly!
you have to know your rhythm really well and when to come back on beat.
How bout this Rory Hoffman? that lap shred performance was astonishing!
I’m primarily a rock guy but love the shit out of watching these guys chicken pick! Skaggs, Hiland, Gatton, hell all of em are good but no one beats Jerry Reed! Dude could run licks with Chet Atkins like it was nobody’s business and played the best portrayal of a truck driver ever put in the can.
Albert lee will put it up to anyone.
And all the while I couldn’t stop thinking that Steve Gaines deserved so much better. #RIP
That Tele twang will never get old. It's as integral to country music as the banjo or fiddle at this point in history
I have always thought James Burton deserves way more recognition than he gets!!!
I worked for James for years. He invented the style, no doubt.
I asked him about his strings one day. Here’s what he said.

Surprised and pleased to se Tommy, shocked I didn’t see Junior Brown.
You left out one ☝️ of the BEST The Great Junior Brown 🎸🎼
I am a sucker for Albert Lee above everyone else
Yeah, I Agree - Plus he Picks 'n "Grins
the Widest" of them All 🤠 !
Oh, man-you included Eddy Shaver with all those famous people-thank you. Once Kristofferson’s band complained to him that Eddy never played it the same way twice. Kris said, “Hell, Eddy don’t play it the same way once.”
He's in the part 2 video.
Eddy is one of the best, love his style
The Rory Hoffman clip at 7:25 is the sickest guitar virtuoso chicken picken I've ever seen/heard! Wow.
Biggest surprise was Glenn Campbell killin it on that pretty blue stratocaster!
Great vid. You’re a hero. Jerry Reed sounded most like a real chicken to me 😂
Gatton always takes the gold home.
Jerry Donahue… that’s some funky pickin, love it
I’ve seen Waylon do some great Tele pickin on “Are you sure Hank” “Only Daddy” “Ramblin Man”
Danny Gatton, The Humbler, was and will always be the KING! Go Danny Go!🎉🎉🎉
Albert Lee certainly belongs on this list. And while a contemporary of EC, I've always thought that Lee was faster than Slow Hand. So glad he's come out and started touring in his own right.
Yes , that's certain . But it's a pitty that he has an endorsement with Music Man ; his Tele twang is gone and that's a shame
two very different styles
Don Rich was the sound of country music to me. When he and Buck played, along with Tom Brumley, it was country magic.
Also, couldn't agree more with comments about Jerry Reed and Glen Campbell
Hopefully Kenny Vaughan and Junior Brown will be in vol. 2.
I am inclined to agree. Uncluttered solos, great rhythm work, and the purest Tele through a Twin ever heard.
Gotta say - Glen Campbell is still the most musical and smooth with his solo phrasing.
No Fender Telecasters were hurt during the making of this video. - Just spanked.
I was glad to see Pete Anderson included here. 👍🏻🤠
Cool that they put Marty Stuart and Clarence White back to back. Marty plays Clarence’s guitar.
The B Bender.
C'mon, NOW?!? 🤠❤️ It's funny how so many are standing right next to Vince Gill.
Redd! What that guy plays with them big ol' sausage fingers is astounding.
Gasp! No Roy Buchanan?
And a special shout out to all those guys who totally killed it while daring not to play a Telecaster! You brilliant heathens, you!
HES THERE
Country music version of shredding lol
I cant believe they didn't have Roy Clark on here,he can tear a guitar up!! Now that Johnny Hiland is amazing and he's so damm humble,my brother plays bass and did a show with Johnny tonight in Virginia and they sent me pictures of them because my brother knows i luv Hilands picking..
Some of thee best playing you will EVER hear! I love this style of pickin’.
All awesome pickers !! Left out one of the best Kenny Vaughn!!
Well, at least he was on the stage...
Yes he's one of the best.
i kept expecting to see him. maybe he'll make part 2.
Happy to see you Included Danny Gatton in this video. He was my dad's favorite
He was amazing. Have you seen that clip of him playing slide with a full beer bootle? It's hilarious. He's even cleaning up the neck with a rag while he's playing and still doesn't miss a note.
ua-cam.com/video/lBGanEveGVc/v-deo.html
Also the BEST.
@@analogman9697 I saw him do it live.
@@videotrexx That's so cool. He should have included that in his instructional videos.
Dangerous Don Rich, Pete Anderson, Glen Campbell, Jerry Reed, Brad Paisley, and Marty Stuart!! Phenomenal picking, and some of my favorite guitarists of all time!
Iv never heard of any of these guys but that marty stuart made an impression on me. His playing wasnt fast but it was so clean and perfect. Its not about how many notes you play, its about playing the right notes.
These guys should try this style on a Telecaster.
LOL!!!
Strat Bridge pickup is good ,but not enough bight and spank as a Telly...
Waylon did.
They all probably have permanent diagonal creases on their right forearms.
Lol
Johnny hiland, the most underrated guitarist.
Maybe most unknown? No one who sees him thinks poorly of his ability.
jerry donahue
There’s a video of him playing with Sammy Hagar on UA-cam that’s bad ass. He’s playing EVH type licks on a tele.
Missed Leroy Parnell, kids!!
Note of interest, Marty Stuart is playing Clarence White’s B-Bender guitar.
Whose scarf is he wearing? Man that's a classic!
Watching this for a second time, this time to the glow and warmth of a bonfire, fueled by my former guitar collection...😭
James Burton and Glenn Campbell, are on another level.
One of the best videos I've seen on UA-cam.
Fender really got it right with the Tele
Love Johnny Hiland, pure country tone!
Hands down the best tone in the video.
For real. As soon as I heard it my mouth dropped open.
Just wish he wood go back to playin' a tele! But I still love him. But I do love the telecaster as well.
I AGREE BUT... Some of the VID Clip (not THIS VID) quality isnot as good too!!!
He's unreal. Chicken Pickin' Good.
Why a collection of awesome Teles!!! And pickers
Thanks for mentioning Jerry Reed, so underrated
If you're not already familiar check out the Hellcasters Donahue and Jorgensen are both members ,you won't be disappointed
He taught Chet Atkins a few things!
Woah ... that Roy Nichols guy is next level. Some beautiful phrasing rolling along in that solo.
Albert Lee all day for me.
No doubting the sound of the Telecaster...
Worth watching to be reminded how great a guitar player Glen Campbell was!
Oh boy, all those beautiful Fenders.
hey, no one told me there was a telecaster party goin' on in youtube....why didn't you call me????
LOVE that TELE TWANG!!!
Danny Gatton was the grand master of the telecaster.
Missed Junior Brown in there.
Ran sound for Redd and James Burton. Plus a show with Red Brad and Billy Gibbons at the same time.
That Doug Seven can turn it out. Great stuff !
And away they gallop! Smokin’ the strings!
I AM CHICKEN PICKED OUT. Love the tone of Don Rich's Tele, just the best.
Don Rich ran that Tele volume on about 3 1/2 ,
amp treble on 8 and cranked that Fender amp to about 9 . :P
He could cut pancakes with it! LOL
Great comment.
I liked the one who played the Telecaster!
Glad to see Doug Seven made the list, someone from current times.
Fender Telecasters working their magic. Something trim and efficient about that guitar that none of the others possess.
Oh man... that makes the old eyeballs pop..Smokin...:)
Second dude up Johnny highland was picking his telecaster but he doesn't mind switching. Guitars. Damn fine picking boys
My first time here -- what a great idea!!! Thank you.
Hughie Thomason and Billy Jones of The Outlaws were also great chicken pickers.
Albert Lee has always been my favorite, but all of these guys rock!
Red Volkeart gets my 10 votes ... After seeing him live in Austin, I've seldom been more impressed
Red really stood out from the bunch IMO, I had never heard countrified jazz before so what he did was really clever and the most unique.
Redd had the best tone I thought!!!
Saw him play in Austin once with Cindy Cashdollar on steel. Redd's musical prowess is so refined, and his ear is so astute, he can run circles around every other picker. It's amazing what he can do with his mitts.
Tommy Emmanuel is a legend! He's badass with an acoustic as well. He got the title of "C.G.P." (certified guitar player) from the great Chet Atkins himself.
One of the best ever with an acoustic IMO.
No one any near as cool as Danny Gatton
Glad you put Vince gill in
Rory Hoffman with that PRS through a Mesa amp. That shit sounded incredible.
Also good to see Glenn Campbell up there, by no means just a crooner!
Great collection of players... but Jerry Reed, he was something else ! Not just a great picker, but he could write great music too !
Yep, a singer, songwriter, arranger, bandleader, instrumentalist, humorist, storyteller, and motion picture star. Can’t think of anyone today as multitalented.
Telecaster commercial. Best commercial I’ve seen for an instrument.
Now we know where all the Telecasters went! 🤣
I love almost all of these cats but that Brad Paisley solo was a train wreck.
that's because the song was supposed to represent a time warp (hence the name of the song). It's probably a very technical piece, but I'm not a huge fan of it either.
Oh Yessir..... Listen To All That Guitar Magic ☺☺😎👊💯 Thanx a Million For Uploading and Sharing ☺☺😎💯
..And Man.... You Must Have Some Musical Video Library....Just WOW !!! ☺☺😎👊💯
When I was a kid I'd take days off school and go into town and drool over guitars at Harry Landis the one that stuck in my mind is the Pink Paisley Telecaster. I'm 70 now and I've had a few Telecasters over the years but the one I love the most is my COMMEMORATIVE (May 1993) G&L ASAT
Glenn Campbell (to Glenn Campbell): "Play it Glenn!"
Dang! That shot at 4:50 was worth another looksee!!😜
I love how they’re all playing Tellies lol
The level of skill from everyone in this video is ridiculous.
don rich didnt play as flashy as the others, but the way plays so cleanly and the bends. love it
Jerry followed by James --- that's more than I can handle!
this should be called the history of the Telecaster lol
Man...all of these guys are such powerhouses. I wouldn't even know where to start. I'm just glad I have been able to watch them all perform over the years.
Rory Hoffman - OMG. That's some of the cleanest fast picking I've ever heard. I wonder if that technique makes it easier or harder. I need to look into him more.
Saying any one of these players is better than the rest is like picking out which one of several perfect, 50 carat diamonds is better. They are all perfect and 50 carat. Just like these players. Just enjoy them, and be thankful that there are players like this for us all to enjoy.
This is amazing! Missin a few, like Toy Caldwell and Roy Clark for sure but still just incredible!
Awesome players, but for me, the best part seeing Marty Stewart playing Clarence White's old B-bender tele, then Clarence playing the same exact guitar in the next clip. Oooo Chills.
Great collection of some truly accomplished and diverse players. I will have to say that the best of the bunch hands-down are Vince Gill and Albert Lee. While some may dazzle with their speed and precision, Vince and Albert standout because their phrasing is so inventive in how it always complements the song.
you know jack shit about music. they are all playing the same scale.
Vince was the first guy to turn me on to chicken pickin and the best part is he just looks like he was grilling steaks at his upper middle class home in Eden Prairie with the other neighborhood dads.
Couldn't agree more. For me, Albert *just* tops Vince. Their speed and precision and phrasing is just superb.
Exactly, lots of guys and gals out there pickin way over the speed limit but lack that feel ya get from Vince and Albert.
Gill is incredibly smooth
All the pickers I truly admire and have tried to emulate for many years! Nice compilation!
Glen Campbell was awesome. I saw him, Roy Clark, Jerry Reed, Johnny Cash and some others at the Indiana State Fair one year...musta been 1972 but coulda been before or after. Talk about some guitar pickin goin on! Carl Perkins was playing for Johnny and at one point Roy and Jerry were on stage together trading licks. But just like in this video collection, Glen shined above the rest. What a player! All these folks are great though...music is not a competition...all is subjective.
That snare behind doug Steven was filthy
i'm showing my age...but i had the pleasure of seeing Don Rich and Roy Nichols....what a great video of all these pickers!
Insane! This is some serious skill!
So great. Was hoping to see my old friend Keith Gattis on here. God rest his heart ❤
What, no Roy Clark? Love these guys and I'm a hard rock heavy metal guy.
I thought the same. BTW clicked on this link after watching some Yngwie.
Me too.
I think there’s a part 2 to this video. I agree though, if Roy Clark isn’t included on the second video it would be an injustice.
A million times better than all the UA-cam shredders
