The story of this car is quite tragic that it never got to actually race in competition. If the CCGT goes historic GT1 racing that would be such a cool and deserved closure to the whole topic. Way back in the original Racedriver GRID game (shoutout to who remembers that game) this was one of my favorite cars to drive.

2004-2010 was one of the best era for GT1 cars. The cars are instantly recognisable as road cars (yes, even MC12), and they all sounded fantastic. Growling V8s from Saleen, Corvette C6.Rs, and Ford GTs, V12 howlers from MC12, DBR9 and Reiter Murcielagos, and even Nissan GT-R got big honking V8 as well. And this is before we got into the lower GT2 class with F430, 997 RSR and V8 Vantages. Imagine if CCGT was allowed to compete as well...
I think the Gumpert Apollo being a GT3 car was a shame. Definitely could have been made into a GT1. There was a Mercedes SLR 722 GT, that was pretty much a GT1 unrestricted. The McLaren MP4-12C came a little late, but that would have been cool.

They are literally the only hypercar manufacturer I have any respect for. Pure engineering, none of effort of maintaining a bullshit pedigree. His cars aren't supposed to _look_ fast, they're supposed to _be_ fast, and I don't think anyone else out there is committed to that ethos in the same way with production vehicles. His road cars genuinely seem like they're made with every intention of being able to race in Le Mans, and that they just _happen_ to be legal on the road as well.
@@maxcore5815 No. GT1 died because it was insanely expensive and the OEMs couldn’t justify it anymore and the Gentlemen drivers couldn’t drive the GT1 cars. Which led to GT2 and eventually GTE which just ended up with the same problems. It took GT3 racing to have an actual stable global GT platform again
So we're gonna see Koenigsegg at Le Mans in the next 5 years. Sweet. (And I totally vibe with his notion that Le Mans is much more exciting when the cars that win look like something you could drive on the road. Leave the space ships for F1 imo.)
The Fact that Christian can tell us all of the little details about all of his cars, even the older ones, is just Crazy! If i would be in his place and somebody would ask me about a car i've build almost 20 years ago, i would forget about 70% of it. But that's exactly why Christian is Christian Von Koenigsegg.

Something that really excites me, a lot of what Christian is saying about his interests in racing directly parallel things Gordon Murray says, can you imagine if they sorted their categories out and you had konigseggs racing gma cars? I have no desire for this kind of cars whatsoever. But i really like what they do and how they do it. A perfect David against Goliath success-story with a man with a vision and the ability to make it real. There are a few of this kind in the world, but it's interesting how they seem to come up with new ideas time after time.
This is the first time I've seen Cristian, you can tell how much he absolutely loves cars, you'd expect someone putting something out like the Jesko series would be just chasing numbers, but he is truly just doing it out of love.

Every time I see Christian talk I'm extremely impressed. In a world of fakes like fElon Musk, you can tell Christian has actually been involved in designing everything in the car. He knows absolutely everything of every piece, why it's the way it is and how it got to that point. Truly hands on and extremely inspiring. Him and Gordon Murray are two of the biggest automotive icons of this era. Bravo!

I heard that this car had a flaw, it allegedly wore tires faster than the competition in the races. Now that I have the opportunity to ask a question, I would be very happy to use it with the hope that I will get an answer.
A naturally aspirated Jesko engine with 600ish BHP would be amazing. GT1 regs gave us some of the wildest road cars. The closest thing to a homologation special today is the GR Yaris.
