The Repeated Resurrections Of Makari The Grot - 40K Theories

  • Whenever a Makari dies, a new Gretchin is selected to take his place. Yet despite being entirely different individuals, each iteration of Makari is able to recall the memories of their predecessors. So just how exactly is Makari able to be ‘resurrected’ time and again?

That would actually make a bit of sense. Another comment mentioned that perhaps they aren't entirely separate entities. Since gretchin are usually a bit more underhanded and sneaky, it would make sense that Makari is the embodiment of Mork, while Ghazkull is the embodiment of Gork.

Maybe, just maybe Makari's 'resurrections' or at least his luck are somehow connected to that strange and suspiciously unorky trinket on his wrist.
Hell, maybe he has his own soul gem an while other Orks think it's because of Ghazkhull's touch it's actually because of the gem, he took from Makari's corpse.

I'm not sure Ghazghkull and Makari are entirely separate beings any more. It sounds like each "Makari" is imbued with the spirit of his predecessor by the touch of Ghazghkull's hand - whether or not it's attached to a living Ghaz. Seems Makari is an extension of Ghaz's soul. That being the case, Makari could serve as an anchor point in the resurrection of Ghazghkull as well.

I think Ghazgkhull only marks the Gretchin. This mark can be perceived subconsiously by all Orks. It is the Waaagh field of the boys that makes the Gretching Makari, as they believe he will be.
The reincarnation does not need ot be perfect. If enough Orks believe a certain story of Makaris death, Ghazgkhull himself will propably believe it like that.
As for needing Makari to bring Ghagkhull back: Since some of the Ork bosses (and thus their boys) believed he was nessesary, so he _was_ nessesary. That is the downside of Ork believe - if some believe in a requirement, it becomes a requirement (at least for that group and possibly for the whole).

Ghazghkull had shed most of his mega armor by the time he got to the top of the hill. Being an Ork, the act of removing armor seemed... unusual, to say the least, but it seemed appropriate to approach this site somewhat vulnerable. After all, he was meeting with the one being he knew would never harm him.
"'Ey. Uhh... not sure what's I suppose'ta say 'ere. Jus' wanted tah, y'know, say 'ello. See how ya's was. Dose 'umies who got dat lucky shot off on ya? Yeah, dey dead. 'Dere planet is dead. Got lotsa da bastards. 'Ope dat helps out somehow. Wells... I's be goin', den. I... I misses ya, boy." Ghazghkull Mag Thraka turned and began walking down the hill again, leaving the grave he had been speaking to behind. A grave that simply said:
    Makari
    Banna Wava
Everyone knew Orks were belched back into another body after they died. Not Gretchin though. No Gretchin could ever replace Makari.

Waagh power is more like the power of the Faith than purely like psychic powers. I don't recall there ever being an account of orkish technology suddenly failing to work in psychic blank fields or similar phenomena, which makes it similar to powers used by the Emperor in the Godblight novel. Both are empowered and to an extent depowered with the tides of the warp, but they don't entirely depend on the warp like pure psychic powers do, nor do ork Waagh powers come with the same side effects and attendant sub-manifestations that psychic powers do. Ghazkhull's hand was like a holy relic, and Makari is basically the greenskin equivalent of an Imperial Saint.

Just like Gork and Mork keep Ghazkhul alive, they keep Makari alive because they find him funny, and play the Great Game using them, and constantkly fight over who gets to play as Ghazkhul and who is left with Makari.

re: For the lack of the better term, lesser orks.. You could have used the term smaller orks, since the more following the boss has, the larger he grows in size :D

True, but you do get some Ork bosses who are actually smaller than their followers (although this is admittedly incredibly rare), such as General Taktikus whose second in command was noted as being bigger than him, though Taktikus still managed to (brutally) put him in his place.
