Special thanks to Wib for narrating this episode while I was still busy editing last week’s (which took a ridiculously absurd amount of time due to various technical and health issues).
*Meh*, will stick with my War Hounds theory purely just because of that short phrase from the old Deathwatch RPG. The one where a Storm Warden has some sort of vision or dream where daemon Primarch is just REEEing at them
That's kind of a shallow analysis, don't you think? I think they're pretty obviously Iron Hands successors given their preferred tactics, self detrimental battle rages and stubbornness, and, well, being semi based on Scots
You guys forgot my favorite theory, that they're successors of the War Hounds (specifically not the World Eaters, because no butchers nails), they're noble warriors who hope to gain more skill in combat, with weapon specialties originating from the original group they're a part of, and use similar but slightly different fast attack strategies from the White Scars
Should be noted that the creator of the chapter at Fantasy Flight Games basically said he based the chapter off a White Scars successor chapter (I think Storm Lords) and the Imperial Fists. That always lead me to say their one of Khan’s children. And I think it’s cool to give the white scars more lore because I feel they’re painfully under utilized.
Ah that sucks. I really liked the idea they were pre-butchers nails world eaters aka warhounds successors. I always love the idea of traitor geneseed being used in loyalist chapters
i actually am fairly certain these are possibly sons of the lion. if we were to open out 8th edition space marines codex (special edition) we will see iconography and depictions of the angels of repentance and angels redeemed. whose names seem to suggest strong connections to the fallen and are very likely not among the unforgiven counted number. in addition the dark angels in the days of the legions had storm iconography the stormwing. the storm wing was also home to the legions artillery formations and fire support elements, and a favored tactic of this the largest wing of the legion was to suppress the enemy and then advance upon them in armored transports. in addition this wing possessed both the chief apothecary and chief techmarine of the hexagramaton of the legion prior to the coming of the lion (though losing the chief techmarine to another wing as a result of the restructuring from the 12 brotherhoods). in addition both used a lightning bolt as an icon the stormwings being a golden wing next to a golden thunderbolt in a simple circle.
Personally, I would love to see their heritage be the Iron Hands. The connections between them seem to fit better than any other legion, the White Scars coming in at a close second. Everything you mentioned, to their affinity on singling our strong opponents, and even their clan setup just screams Ferrus Manus to me.
Just curios, do people actually experience ASMR from such videos, or do they really just watch them to relax and chill out (or stare at cleavage, depending on the person making the video)? I only ask because I typically only experience "autonomous sensory meridian response" from getting very into good music, from something epic and inspiring (usually with accompanying music), or by personal will... never has someone whispering or making soft noises *into a sensitive microphone* given me euphoric waves of tingly goosebumps throughout my body (which is the actual definition of ASMR). Yes, people whispering directly into my ear can cause this, but this is also because of their warm breath and my own personal affinity towards them/sexual arousal (physical effects completely missing from a UA-cam video). I know everyone is different, but I don't see *most* ASMR videos as actually being something that could cause this particular physical sensation, and most of them seem to be watched for other reasons (the aforementioned cleavage, or perhaps other fetishes).
they are maybe hybrides, from 2 loyalist chapters : white scars and because they have this chivalry honor so maybe imperial fist (they remind me black templars and they got something to defend) or dark angels (the knights per excellence chapter, for at least originally purpose).
White Scar/Iron Hands Hybrid chapter. They will never confirm nor deny hybrid chapters but all likely candidates for a hybrid geneseed has an "unknown" founding or a disputed one.
Great video as expected. If i can offer a small critique, the text captions that appear at times, vanish to quickly and sometimes i have to rewind and pause to read it. Otherwise, exceptional work and cant wait for more
The Howling Griffons are also psychotically honour bound Ultramarines successors so there's that in the favour of them being Ultramarines. I'm leaning more towards White Scars though because of the reasons in the video plus the honour thing which the White Scars also observe in the form of hunting down enemies of the Chapter and returning only after they have obtained their target's head.
Kind of. They were listed as Raven Guard in one of the Forge World books, but multiple editions of the mainline Space Marine codecies before and after listed them as being Ultramarines
Ah ok. Gotcha, I can see how, even with the official status as ultra marines, it wouldn't be " taken to heart" and still could be questioned by some. Since we all know that nothing but the truth comes from imperial bureaucracy.. Possible sarcasm thrown in on that last line
I like to think they're White Scars successors, but the Iron Hands connection could possibly suggest they're of Chimeric geneseed between 2 loyalist legions as an experiment by the Mechanicus (more than likely Cawl himself) to see what would happen if you crossed two pretty much identical geneseed samples together, both are incredibly stable so there would be little to no reason for any mutation to occur as its basically baseline Astartes geneseed like that of the Ultramarines or Dark Angels so no one would ever suspect a thing, also missed opportunity to mention how they're the Scottish representation in 40k lol, why you gotta do my Highlander bois dirty like that lol
in what world are welsh considered "celts" but scots aren't? (not saying that welsh="not celts", just that if one group _is,_ i don't understand how the other could be _not)_
I recently looked into these guys and I honestly think they’re Iron Hands (*or at least part-Iron Hands*), due to their high number of Techmarines. Plus, I think I’ve seen some stuff called the Iron Hands, formerly called the Storm Walkers, a Celtic-like Legion, but I’m not sure how true that is.
Weren’t these guys ‘created’ for cannon when they introduced in the space marine expansion to the Dark Heresy RPG. Created by a reviewer / promoter of the RPG and its expansion
They were the main chapter of the FFG RPG games, yes. But they would however be named dropped in the 2012 Black Library anthology "Treacheries of the Space Marines", with the first short story in that book mentioning how one of the main characters fought against them in the past.
