- Hey guys!
In this tutorial I will show you how to create braids in Blender. Hope you find it helpful:)
Update: the Hairnet addon has become quite buggy in the new versions of blender, so I recommend using this addon bartoszstypere...

Hey guys! Check out my store on Artstation www.artstation.com/nazarnoschenko/store
this was like 10 tutorials about bezier curve in one
At 3:26 it says to use S for scale. You need to use S+X for it to work like the video. And make sure you have proportionnal editing on (connected + smooth fallout). Thanx for a useful video. :)
Oh, thanks! I watched this part like 10 times and couldn't find out what's wrong, why it's not going according to plan :D
Thank you Banjin!
Wait how you turn on proportional editing I don't know where that is. oh boy I'm struggling
@@ellxsandranoratora In the header (where it says view, select, add...). Shortcut key is O :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH
You are very advanced in this Nazar. *Please, do a tutorial explaining how you make those eyes* in blender. Thanks!
Jeepers creepers, where'd you get those peepers? Jeepers, creepers, where'd you get those eyes?
@@marzropo6655 ....
The eyes are amazing
I sond this i need to knownhow to make those eyes
It's really nice to finally see a tutorial that properly shows how to use Hair Net plugin. And of course, the character is amazing.
I think this is one of the most useful Blender tutorials I've ever seen.
You're a hairy wizard.
Hairy Potter
I saw this in the Blender Development videos. You are seriously talented. I can see why they would want to have the honor to use your work for demonstration.
Thank you!
6:04 Making the origins coincide is not the important thing, the important thing is that the first point on the curve is at the origin of the curve object. This way the object being curved will not suddenly jump when you add the curve modifer to it.
Your hair tutorial gave me a big boost en this ain't different, hoping for a modelling tutorial, keep the good work
This is so good, freaking amazing. Remember I tried to make braid with the hair brush tool once, it did not go well at all. Whole model looks awesome.
this guy is unbelievable he makes a reaaly awsome works i watched alot of tutorials but his videos are so satisfying
Please do a full character tutorial, or at least a head. The quality here is unreal.
When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a doll!
Really cool work dude!!
Nazar, what an ingenious way of doing braids, freaking awesome! Do you have any plans on doing an advanced tutorial on all your tips on hair modeling and shading? I'd buy it on a whim!
OH THANK GOODNESS! i've been trying to figure this out for MONTHS! excellent tutorial!
1:30 You can do that whole thing with 2 modifier
First the mirror modifier with the snap option Enabled
second an array modifier with a distance of 1/3 of the object and with Merge Enabled
But I prefer your version of a tutorial, since not everyone is so adept to using modifier stacks like a pro such as me. xD.^^
This is the video I was looking for Thank you so much and I'll watch the video carefully ❤❤🙏🏻🙏🏻😭😭
Will you ever do a tutorial on how to make the rest of the character? 😂
Bro, you are a hero! This process is super helpful for non-particle techniques too! Just what I needed!
Thanks! Happy to hear that:)
That was freaking awesome! I love how you make it look so simple and easy to follow. Brilliant tutorial!!
Just came across this one today -- very cool
this is one component im looking for so this will be so helpful
Dope. Didnt even know most of these things were possible
At 0:55 must set the Pivot Point to the 3d cursor.
amazing tutorial, exactly what i've been looking for
I love your work, man.
You're very very very good.
I recently saw this tutorial and it is amazing. Looking foward to see more of your arts!
Excellent tutorial. Well done.
PERFECTION! Every honor, brother!
You are lifesaver ....

ahh thank you so much! I've been looking for exactly this!
Do you think you could do a tutorial on Skin texturing and rendering please? Your final renders are beautiful!
I'd like to know how you model and color faces.
You might want to take a look at sculpting in blender. I reccomend YanSculpts, Yan has a whole bunch of excellent tutorials and streams on sculpting. I just started myself and I'm really having a lot of fun with it.
YanScuplts is not a good beginners teacher, more high intermediate to advanced. He doesn't explain and he's too fast. FlippedNormals on the other hand, has great theory and tutorials for beginners.
have seen this in 10 000 hours, great job mate
1:10 Instead of moving it up, you could have rotated it 120°. That would avoid the problem of having to fix the ragged ends later.
Great stuff - thanks for posting it. Your characters have a lot of "appeal". Worth watching even if it's just to avoid the "gotchas" of hair editing :)
Cant get this to work with 2.82. As soon as I apply the Bezier to control the braid, it thins out and stretches the braid. Have tried multiple times.
wasnt ready for this... too advanced for me. i just wanted some plastic hair. lol. but great tutorial. well explained. one of the best out there. Thank you and blessings
If you dont understand this, I recommend following along with BlendetGuru's donut tutorial, he explains the basics and goes in depth.
You can use interpolated children, you just have to adjust the clump curve to keep everything closer together.
Wow. Very impressive stuff!
Hey Nazar, Thanks a lot for this tutorial. Maybe I am not creating braids but hairnet is something I really looked for!
Thanks man!
Glad to hear that! I mainly wanted to show the technique which can be useful in many different cases.
I tried it for my solution and unfortuntaly it doesn't work. I have multiple curves so I joined them. When I try to use the plugin results are bad. Perhaps you know how to use the plugin with multiple curves? I am not able to do this one by one as I have about 100 curves and creating hair system for each curve is not a good idea. Curves come from Maya. Thanks in advance! :)
Each curve should have the same amount of vertices. Maybe there's too many vertices for the plugin to handle. Check the documentation. Maybe you'll find the solution there.
Thanks for the tip. I wrote simple script that removes all the curves that has more vertices than they should and it worked :)
Glad to hear that:)
Mind exploded. I wish I discovered this a when it was new!
Fantastic work!
I wish there where a blender 2.8. beta tutorial for this :O
I can't apply the curve modifier and the addon doesn't work as well :(
@@TamarMebonia can you explain how it works? i try add hair from curves and it swirls the hair around in a circle shape
@@TamarMebonia doesn't work with 2.81 btw
@@iRRR3 it does work. im using it now; look for a youtuber called "The Luwizart" he has a nice tutorial that goes in detail
doesn't work in 2.92??? what am i doing wrong?
Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial. This is great!
once again amazing work Nazar...
can you please also make a tutorial on how you model and texture you characters... from start to end. thank you..
Wow! Beautiful. Thank you very much for the presentation.
Awesome Tutorial, my dude. Thanks alot.
Love it! Would you make a tutoial for your gorgeous skin shader?
Amazing work! Congrats!!!
Pure magic, thanks for sharing! ;)
Thank you , fr. I as actualy scared of knowing how to to braids. But know ik its actualy pretty easy :D
thank you so much. how many "hidden" patient tricks on Blender! Click the comb tool but not do anything so that it will arrange itself when going back to object mode....? dang...that must´ve come out of a lot of trial-error. Nevertheless this tutorial is outstanding!
Thanks! Yeah, I did figure out this by errors:) But it was written in the the documentation actually, so if I've read it more carefully I wouldn't have to struggle back then:)
I think the hair net addon is perhaps using something of that to set the position of the ahirs??? Seems weird though
Looking at the video, the hairs already jump in place before you click anything. @9:11
One word - GENIUS!
How did you learn to do hair in blender? What training pipeline did you go through?? Can you do eyes next?
WEgbyyYT it's called 3D graphics Course , not everyone leaning on UA-cam lol
Wow! Great work!
Thank you for sharing this, very useful and eye opening!
You are so talented and gifted . But a little request . Can you plz make a tutorial for head texture ? It would be helpful . Thanks
Very nice! Thanks Nazar
Perfect work. Congrats.
Very Cool Dude !!! Thanks for the Tutorial :)
Puma looks like a Russian girl, great model and render!
Great job. Love your work. Thank you.
This is pretty amazing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Awesome tutorial. Thanks
Outstanding tut! Catching some glimpses of Puma clothing, looks really nice. Do you use simulation, sculpt or both for the clothing?
Looking at the software used on the Artstation page he used Marvelous Designer, which is a simulation based cloth modelling program. Might've done touchups using sculpting afterwards though.
Could you please clarify whether this hair will be dynamic or not? If not, then how to make a dynamic braid? Also, it would be of a lot of help if you could please update this tutorial to the latest version of blender. Thanks in advance.
WOW! great tutorial man! thank you so much! ⚡⚡⚡💥
The last part didn't work for me because of the new blender version.
So I converted the curves to mesh, followed this video to create the hair - ua-cam.com/video/ypsHhMoprno/v-deo.html ,
and then under: ParticlesProperties>Children>Simple we can select the radius and roundness.
Using a radius of .1 m and a roundess of .5 I got similar results to the video.
It doesnt work anyway with braid :( idk what i can do...
I ran into the same problem using Blender 3.0. So, I downloaded Blender 2.79 and, so far, so good!
Great video!
Are you planing to do a Tutorial Serie on how you make the characters from start to finish?
That would be amazing?!
Darrin is great! I've followed many of his tutorials. But Nazar has his own style and secrets. I'd be glad to see his tutorial on this too.
Not everything can be done with a tutorial..
you are a beast in this
Nice work. But i want watched how you modeled this face or topology this face in view front/side at screenshot.
seriously what is this music? This is so awesome.^^
Incredible technic. Many thanks.
The model is so cute!!
it's a good tutorial, but quite outdated, do you think you can make a video with the new version of blender?
Great 💜💓😪 thank you ! I was looking for something like that.
would love to know how you make the eyebrows and eyelashes!
If the hair doesn't follow the curve and keeps being straight... Increase the Strand steps under -> Particle settings -> Viewport Display -> Strand Steps. Try to go with a 7, that worked for me.
Awesome video. Hope this gets redone in 2.8+ so its easier to follow, but even so, Thank you.
hi .. are you modling spesial character ?
hi Nazar I'm your great fan! I think blender cloth now is great!
Thank you so much for the tutorial... could you please please update it for a newer version of blender, i'm finding it quite hard to follow along with the older version as a new blender user....thanks again
Hello, Nazar. I am having a small issue with my Mesh in Blender. I was wondering if you would have some idea of what to do. Here is my issue.
I use Blender and Cinema 4D lite R19 to open and manage different types of 3D model files so I can convert them to OBJ files and use them in Element 3D for animating. When I open a WRL file in Cinema 4D Lite R19, the model is nice and smooth looking. I would have been happy with the model as it was, accept that whole thing was almost one single object, so I needed to open the WRL in Blender and and try to separate the mesh into several different parts that can be individually animated in After Effects through Element 3D, because as far as I know, C4D Lite R19 (a plugin version for After Effects) lacks the ability to do so.... and here's where the problem begins.
Like I said earlier, when I open the WRL in C4D Lite, it's nice and smooth and looks good. However, when I take that Same exact WRL and open it in Blender, it's jagged, rough and has looks very "geometric." I didn't think much of this and did a bunch of work and exported the object as an OBJ to open in Element 3D, thinking that it would be "smoothed-out" in the file exporting process, but I was wrong! It looks exactly how it did in Blender, hard-edged and "geometric!" not smooth and soft as it did in C4D Lite! ...No good.
So my question is, do you have ANY idea as to why opening the WRL in Blender causes it to look hard-edged, rigged and Geometric? In Blender, I have tried "smoothing" the mesh and that just tares it. I have tried "Subdividing" and "Subdividing-Smooth" properties and neither of them work. I was going to try a "Shrink-wrap" technique I learned form UA-cam in an attempt to "re-mesh" the surface. I just can't understand why the object goes from being nice and smooth in C4D Lite... to hard-edged, jagged and "geometric" in Blender. Any ideas? Either way, thanks for whatever help you can offer!
Such a brilliant tutorial. Thank you
Thanks for your video!
It was very informative, and I have learned new things for working with curves!
Hi, Nazar. Can you animate the character with this technique? whenever I try a blendshape or move, some errors happen.
omg, cute model
Its probably something with using a newer blender but when i apply curve modif it stops influencing the braids.
i would really love to make a tutorial about textures
ty
Think I saw this in 10000 hours? Neat
Awesome work! I always suck at making braids.
Not into 3D but thumbs for the character! Looks great!
can i use this method for high realistic character or should i go for xgen ? this one look way much easy to follow
Can you make a tutorial, on how you do the eyelashes? Thank you :)
Great work btw.
What is the “simple scaling operation” at 3:17? I cannot seem to get that tapered, even scale to happen. What am I missing here?
you probably know this by now but just in case, its proportional editing. Its an icon that looks like a target on the top side of the viewport.
wow...
please please please I love your work so much please create full tutorial the 3d character female seria grandioso... gracias de antemano
i can not install the add on, in blender 2.82 there is no particle category, is there a way to install it?
This is brilliant and so easy to follow! Thank you. Do you have a texturing/color tutorial to complement this one?
Thanks! Here it is ua-cam.com/video/EB2rVdnmq8E/v-deo.html
you are awesome! Thank you so much, and for responding so quickly. Subscribed!
