The absolute epitome of a world class presenter ,rip Johnny ,don’t know what I’m going to do on Sunday afternoons anymore.you sir will be sorely missed .
Now... what a heartbreaking end to 2024. #JohnnieWalker from #BBCRadio2 has died at the age of 79. Next March, he would have been 80 in 2025. #RIPJohnnieWalker #RIPJohnnie (30 March 1945-31 December 2024)
What a sad end to 2024. I heard about the passing of the legendary Johnnie Walker live on BBC Radio 2 by Bob Harris this evening & I was saddened to say the very least. I remember tuning into his Sounds of the Seventies shows on Sunday afternoons as well as the Rock Show on Friday evenings & his soft, smooth velvety voice was quite something, it was all him. He will be very much missed on the air waves now. Johnnie Walker was one of the last radio pirates with Tony Blackburn being the other radio pirate & is still a legendary DJ to this day with his shows on BBC Radio 2 on weekends & Bank Holidays. My thoughts are with his wife Tiggy & his family at this difficult & sad time for them all.
R.I.P. Johnnie; he is now in Heaven with Steve, Annie, and all the others who have gone before. Thanks for all you have done through the decades, my man, for me and for so many others; say "Hi" to Melanie for me (she was my celebrity crush in my teenage years). Condolences to Tiggy, to Sam and Beth, and to all his other relatives and friends.
Remember driving my lorry towards London and heard two voices on the radio in the 80s on GLR and it was Johnny interviewing Steve Marriott small faces, humble pie , just by hearing there voices I knew who they where two legends off music Rip John and Steve rocking on the other side,
So very sad to hear we have lost Johnnie Walker ,,, such a brilliant broadcaster ,, I really enjoyed listening to his shows as his calming voice and choice of music helped me so much through my life ,, and I have just found out that he played The Eagles records from their early days and they are my all time favourite band ,, sending love and strength to his wife and family ,,, Rest in Peace Johnnie and thank you x
Oh, god,,, we knew this day would come,, sooner than we wanted,,, its still a sad time,, great voice and what a huge knowledge of music. My mum can hear Sounds of the 70s all day long now,,, . Rock on you two, and rest. ❤❤❤❤😥😥
Thank you Johnnie for all the years I loved cooking a Sunday roast listening to you on sounds of the seventies . Years ago your banter with Sally . Although we never met you were a friend
R.I.P Johnnie walker an absolute gentleman humble man legendary DJ who will sadly be missed prayers 🙏 and condolences to your wife, family and friends a man of the airwaves 📻🪽🎙️
This year 2024 we have lost 2 great radio presenters. 2 of the very best. Johnny Walker. and of course Steve Wright. Steve I listened to every Monday to Friday during his time. And Johnny Walker during his rock show and Sounds of the Seventies because I love 70s music. I was a teenager during the Seventies so Johnny's choice of music and interviews were great. I have a big collection of greatest hits cds from artists from the 70s. Bob Harris doing a great job hosting Sounds of the Seventies so Johnny would be very happy with him and my guess would be that Johnny would listening in and enjoying the show like the rest of us. Rip Johnny. Thanks for the great memories.

Ah, that's so sad. I'm 66, and I grew up with him. He was the original old school jock. RIP Johnnie, you were the best.
